This was my first thought as well. Then reality hit.

Bug #1- Duneripper never lifts his head to swallow players
Bug #2- Duneripper swallows players, but the poison towers aren't there, so no way to kill him
Bug #3- Duneripper just sits in one spot, never lifting his head, just sits there and jiggles in the same location and doesn't even travel around the zone.

So, once again, great idea, but they did a face plant on the implementation.

For number 1: You have to be in front of the dunegorger to get her to pop up to sallow people. Once she is up all you need to do it hit her hit box. I have done the boss a lot and never seen it not work but maybe I have just been lucky.

For number 2: I have seen this once. I enjoyed my free crazy taxi lol. You should be able to escape the normal way though.

For number 3: This happens some times when she dies. If you see that and she has no health just log out then log back in to fix it. She will be actually dead but if you weren't there for the fight or close enough while your group killed her you wont get loot. I believe this is connected to re-spawning at the oasis mid fight as she dies similar to how you don't get loot from other bosses if you re-spawn as they die.

An additional bug you missed was where you exit and she is too close to a wall so you end up in the wall and get stuck. I have seen this happen several times.

Technically I have been playing since the beta but I took a couple of long breaks.
I mostly do PvE (questing, dungeons, trials). I chase achievements. I also dabble in PvP sometimes.
I currently co-run a guild and I have been in guild leadership in multiple guilds over the years.

Normal way, you mean dying? In some extremely rare cases I have seen escape routes, but I have no idea how to get them spawning as usually they are not there and the only way out is to either kill the duneripper or to die.

When you kill one of the stalks then you can escape. They don't reset when you die either. I was able to solo the boss because of the reset thing but it took multiple tries lol.

This is the most fun boss I've encountered in ages. I was in a group that decided to try her and we spent a bit of time chasing her as ghosts to get swallowed again LOL. Worked though, always someone alive inside to keep things rolling and we finally got her. I have rarely felt so satisfied in bringing down a boss.

When a stalk dies it leaves a hole. Using the interact key (Usually E) on it gets you out.

There is a bug where the duneripper never opens it's mouth. It just swims around in the sand forever no matter what.

That's on me, then. When I go there to kill it, I don't look for exits. If I go there by accident, I don't concentrate on killing anything. Probably that's why I had no idea how to get out when I end up there by accident.
