Ways to Improve Housing

Just some ideas on how devs could improve Housing...

1) Account-wide Grand Master Crafting table set unlocks - I have fully loaded Grand Master crafting tables in my main house. I would add more tables to my other houses, IF they shared the set unlocks from my main set of tables. As long as the unlocks are per-table: I'm done, it's over, and I'll never buy more GM tables. Account-wide set unlocks would create a reason to buy more GM tables and use them in other houses.

2) Grand Master Crafting table skins - Grand Master Crafting tables offer maximum functionality, making all other tables merely decorative. GM tables should be able to eat decorative tables to unlock new skins for the GM table. Then our tables could both offer full functionality and look however we choose.

3) Furniture Crafting table - Seen this idea before but it's worth mentioning again. One table that crafts all furnishings would be a nice convenience, and the ability to decon furniture would mitigate clutter problems.

4) Synchronized Music - Identical music boxes should be synchronized.

    I've asked a few times for a furniture crafting table and think it would be a huge quality of life feature.

    And they really need to give us subcategories like the housing menu has. Instead of just Parlor it should be separated into Banners, Carpets, Tapestries etc.. I know a lot of patterns and it's a lot of scrolling to find a specific type of furnishing when they are all mixed up in one huge list.

    They do it for the housing placement tab so why not our crafting tables, too?

    that would all be nice yes.

    i wish for
    - Portals
    as waypoints between Houses and parts of Houses.
    They could ideally look like any Vehicle, Door, and Magic Portal asset in the game.
    for example you could put various boat furnishings at docks in Forgemasters Falls and link them to other coastal Houses.


    - Crafting improvements.
    Furniture Crafting Station would be nice convenience indeed.
    i also wish for
    - Search function like in the Housing Editor.
    - Drop down categories for the categories in the Housing Editor, but also for the Furniture Styles like Alinor, Markarth, and Dawnwood.


    - More full structures.
    Like the Druidic Hut and Dock Shed.
    it would be awesome to have small houses in various styles as furniture.

    1. Increasing the number of slots. Yes, the developers have already increased the number of slots for small and medium-sized homes, but 700 slots for notable ones is still woefully inadequate and severely restrictive in some larger homes. Some of them are simply impossible to fully furnish, for example the Castle Skingrad. Increasing the number to at least 1000 would help to some extent.
    2. A separate furniture crafting station, sortable by name, style and purpose, with the ability to disassemble and gain used materials, would be extremely useful.
    3. My nightmare... Why are merchants, bankers etc., guests, mounts, and pets all in one category with only 10 slots? It's incredibly sad. Assistants and guests are okay. But pets and mounts should be their own category, and the number of slots in both needs to be increased. What do we have now? Let's calculate using my main house as an example: banker, merchant, scrapper, thief, 3 mounts, 1 pet, 2 guests = 10, that's it! No more...
    4. A preset house design that you can't do anything with. There are some buildings that have trees, columns, etc. by default, and unfortunately, they can't be removed or moved. Example Hall of the Lunar Champion and the Halls of Colossus.
    5. Another pressing issue is that ground skills don't work on various floors/platforms. They are either cast far below on the ground, or not cast at all. This becomes an unpleasant surprise when you build an arena in the air and then discover you can't fight fully there.

    - Let us obtain antiquity furnishings reasonably. Let furnishings unlock after the first codex like other antiquities, including the blue/green antiquity furnishings, which are bugged to never unlock.

    - Let houseguests perform emotes like sitting or reading in our homes. It would make our homes feel so much more realistic.

    - I'd love skins for storage chests as well. The designs from 2018 were super basic even then, and have not aged well either.
    4) Synchronized Music - Identical music boxes should be synchronized.
    I'd like this as well.

    On the subject of music boxes, I'd like them to have their own category in the audio settings, or at least have them share their volume setting with Music, instead of Effects (which controls things like combat noises).

    And ditto as well to Luna's housing music changer suggestion.

    And I agree that notable homes need an increase in furnishing limits.

    Weather Control was a huge relief. (I did my fair share of begging for that!) The next QOL things that really bother me are towards the top of that linked list: the TAB-UX, lack of descriptions in Home Tours, neon pathing that can't be turned off, portals/spawn point, etc.

    I'm not sure a dedicated crafting table for furnishings is necessary or desirable. While I'm sure the Housing Development Team would make a great-looking station, it would take up one more slot, which slots are already rare in most crafting hubs/guild halls.

    Instead, I'd support efforts to organize the database of the 3,333 +/- furnishing plans as part of the base game, allowing for searches of plans, existing furnishings, by name/type from the existing crafting stations (similar to the functionality in the "Character Knowledge" add-on).

    What would making Housing better for you?

    A short list would include base game features, similar to what's in the Essential Housing Tools (EHT) add-on:
    1. Copy/paste of individual furnishings or group of furnishings
    2. Proximity triggers and toggles for existing furnishings with interactions and effects
    3. Portals, which can seamlessly transport players to other player houses with a simple interact point

    While these features exist in an add-on, it would be ideal for them to be base-game features, which do not rely on other players using an add-on or being grouped with the house's owner for the proximity triggers, portals, etc.to work.

    A master bookcase that you could feed all of the readable book furnishings into like we do with master crafting stations. There are over 500 readable book furnishings in the game now and creating a good lore library is impossible with that many. It could fill up at certain milestones of how many books are fed into it.

    Yes! Housing needs a Library overhaul with two new features:

    1) A master Lorekeeper's Bookshelf as you described. It should hold 1 copy of every book furnishing, and visually fill up in stages based on completion level.

    2) All existing "filled" bookshelf and book stack furnishings should be configured to hold one readable book.

    Otherwise, I have no room for books and they all just sit in the Coldharbour IKEA.
