yes we can find many excuses for the game being empty, but there was a time when you was able to do contend at 10 am too - it would be possible with a higher population, wich is literally just not given anymore.

Yes, when nobody was working or at school, and we were all indoors unable to go anywhere for any reasonable length of time.

So we act now as if the pre covid times didnt exist? The game existed a while before everyone was locked in.

Im not even on a spike and the population was way higher.

    This is the comparable:

    q486im2mvbjf.png

Accounting for the change in release schedule on DLC/New Content there is not a huge gap between those numbers
Tamriel has grown a lot bigger since then.
2020 Western Skyrim, Blackreach Greymoor Caverns, Markarth, Arkthzand Caverns.
    2021 Blackwood, The Deadlands.
    2022 High Isle.
    2023 Telvanni Peninusla, Apocrypha.
    2024 West Weald.
    2025 Western Solstice, Eastern Solstice.

And yet the number of players is less than before.

I hope the new seasons model hits it's stride and cadence. I don't think snippets of content attracts interest like a Chapter does, and a smaller release scale for content will result in less interest in this game over time. I mean look at the difference in hype between FFXIV's new expansion announcement vs. a Sheogorath story lol.

As population goes to me it seems fine though decreasing again. There are always people in the crafting area in Blackwood where I go, and now that I am in Rimmen regularly there are a lot of people that socialize near the wayshrine it seems during peak hours. Sometimes morning too. Lots of people in the Grahtwood main hub every time I'm there. When I am rando-shopping which I'm doing just to see what house items are being sold, I usually see others shopping too no matter what guild trader I am at.

There may be less people out in the world as people run out of things they need to do there, is what I'm guessing. Longer-term players are done all the quests and dailies for certain things will get people out into the world for maybe 5 or 10 minutes at a time.

Your whole argument is dead within the first paragraph. Every online game community exploded during covid. Of course it died back down afterwards.

This. Now imagine this thread, and others, if ZOS implemented a poster's suggestion yesterday(?) about including player numbers in game.

The game is healthy enough to justify a high update frequency...as long as this continues im not that concerned

I also wanted to point out Night Market may be drawing a good population away from other areas. Before 7 a.m. PST I just got 24 people for a daily in less than 2 minutes on group finder... (2 full groups)

I play on PC/NA and the game doesn't seem dead to me. I play off hours, and there are always people around. I also run dungeons with pugs and I always get a run, usually within 10 minutes (as a DPS), though there are times when it's longer than that.

Having said that, some zones are deader than others. I sometimes have the experience of spending a lot of time in a zone and never seeing anyone else, or only one other person. But most of the time, it's not like that.

Depends what you're doing and who you're doing it with and when you're playing.

Night market was really hopping for a couple of weeks and we saw greatly increased guild activity and had groups running all the time. That likely pulled players away from other areas of the game too.

Now it's dying down a bit as people have gotten what they want out of it. But on the other hand, for some of us long term players there's now nothing else new until the next update and I've noticed logins from that cohort starting to dwindle again.

Are these bite sized pieces of content going to be enough? I don't know, they seem to spark short term rather than long term engagement. Zos really has to find more ways to draw in new players. Those of us who have been in the game for a long time and done most of the things (multiple times even) are not going to repopulate the old zones and old content. We'll see I guess.

But comparing it to covid times of course it's dead, the world has moved on.

Yes, yes, the game died and we are all ghosts. But most importantly, if you are leaving can I have your stuff?

Hey, hey, I was first! Mkay, 60/40, deal?

Wait, do we literally argue over the loot from the dead player in the dead game?! Oh...

I agree: Necromancers would definitely revive the game.........................................

Btw, to me forum seems dead more than game recently.
And jokes aside I can't comment on game population right now because I'm taking a pause after grinding Night Market.

you fail to realize that the number of steam players increases on average because back then much more people used the ESO launcher, because the game launched there first.

And given you or I don't know what the % of that is the comparable remains the Steam Stats.

It would be like me saying, in 2019 those 13,000 were only 16,000 unique logins, but the 11,000 today are actually 60,000 unique logins. It's not something anyone but ZOS can verify.
