In game count of all online players

It would be awesome if ESO would add a counter for online players. Same as having the latency and FPS option in gameplay. I'd love to be able to look at bottom left corner and see how many active players are online and active players in current zone.

How is it useful?

I could kind of understand wanting to know how many people are currently in the same copy of a zone as you, but even that has limited use. If you're trying to do a world boss and no one's around and no one's responded when you asked in zone chat does it matter if it's 1 person ignoring you or 30? The result is the same.

They'd never do it, and for good reasons. First, they never publish any player numbers, and second every time someone logged in and saw fewer people than last time they'd make a post on here saying the game was dying.

But its only PC players using steam.
Who came pretty late and had serious issues in the start.
But still useful for trends.

They have never released that sort of info, so I wouldn't really expect that to change. Best data available, as mentioned is from steam.
