I thought I had done the same but with a different furnishing. I thought I had inadvertantly duped it. I experimented with a few different furnishings with mixed results to have data to report. It drove me a bit crazy at first until I figured it out.

Turns out that whenever I undid a placement/removal, it pulled an identical item from my Vault instead of from the bank/inventory slot of which the original had been placed. So it only appeared to be generating duplicates it actually wasn't.

It's happend a few more times since, usually doing daily endeavours fast. I isn't even bother reporting it now, even though it's extremely exploitative, as it seems they just don't care.

For at least some of the furnishings I know it definitely didn't pull them from the vault, as I only had one of them before the duplication glitch.

Wait, are you saying that I could accidentally duplicate the Void-Crystal Anomaly furnishing if I'm not careful? Oh, the horror, as I've already got more than enough of it, and keep finding the lead for it again and again whether I want to or not! ;D

i was replacing some of my bound furnishing items i got for non bound items in my already decorated houses (so i could sell the non bound item at guild stores) but... ummm every time i retrive a item i get is in my inventory and when i undo the action it places one back, but doesnt use anything from my inventory. video is proof

I just tested this out and this is what I discovered.

I had 2 Colovian Sconces in my Vault. I placed one in my house and used the retrieve tab to remove it with the option to remove it to my inventory. I then used Z to place it back and still had one in my inventory but the second was no longer in the Vault because it took the one from there to replace the one I had retrieved.

Try testing yours this way to verify if this is what is happening. Note how many of a specific furnishing you have wherever you store your furnishings. Place one in your house then retrieve it to your inventory. Now use Z to put it back. You should have 1 in your inventory but 1 less now in your storage.

I suspect that the game just pulls furnishings from storage by default rather than from the player's bag. I seriously doubt anything is being duplicated.

Having an item remain in our bag when we use Z to place it again doesn't mean anything unless the number of the same furnishing in our storage remains the same and hasn't decreased by one.

It can take furnishings from your housing chests, too.

It helps if all the furnishings can be stored in the same place. Then it's easy to keep track of how many we have.

Choose one furnishing and take all that you have in the Bank, the Vault, the housing Chests and your bag and put them all in one of the storage containers. Take note of how many you have.
Place one of the items in a house.
Retrieve it to your inventory then use Z to place it again.
Add how many you now have in storage to the one in your bag and it should be the same number you started with.
