[Bug] 'Fractured Facets' Achievement - Faceted Foes may have stopped spawning in Night Market

Hi everyone,

I’d like to report a potential bug regarding the “Fractured Facets” achievement from the Night Market event zone.

Issue:
The achievement requires you to “Defeat a Faceted foe in the Night Market. They can appear in districts with a green or gold glow and provide increased rewards when defeated”. Based on reports from players I’ve seen, it appears that these Faceted foes may have stopped spawning altogether.

Observations:

The players I’m aware of who managed to encounter a Faceted foe did so within the first two days of the Night Market opening.

I haven’t seen any reports of successful encounters since Day 3.

Hypothesis:
My suspicion is that the spawn rate for these enemies is glitched and may be tied to zone instance resets. It seems they only spawn normally in fresh instances immediately after a reset, and as time passes and instances age, their spawn rate drops to near zero. If this is the case, it would explain why encounters were possible in the first two days but have since dried up.

Potential Connection to a Previous Bug:
There’s a supporting precedent for this kind of issue. A similar bug previously affected the “Slayer of Death Itself” achievement, which requires you to “Destroy 25 of the Worm Cult’s soul reaper devices deployed across Tamriel.” During that incident, players reported that the soul reaper devices would spawn normally only in newly created instances, but would eventually stop appearing as those instances persisted, suggesting a problem with how spawns are handled in older instances.

This seems to follow the same pattern: spawns work initially in fresh instances, but then the mechanic fails over time in those same instances without a reset.

Has anyone else encountered a Faceted foe since Day 2? Any additional data points would be greatly appreciated.

+1 for this bug report.

I saw two in the first hour of night market, and a friend got the achievement the day after, but that is it. Nobody I know has seen or killed one since day 2 of night market. I have spent many hours in the Night Market and currently sit at over 12,500 favour collected. This is certainly a bug that needs to be fixed.

+1 from me. Got the achievement on my main but search as I may can't find any on my alts.

Something seems to be wonky with the instances too. Every instance of The Parch I have visited today (PC/EU) the Duneripper 'roaming boss' was bugged.

In his belly there were just three constantly respawning blobs.

I am pretty certain they were different instances due to the fact that I kept swapping groups as the one I was part of completed the particular objective it was assembled for and disbanded and I was getting the 'leader in another instance' message.

We also had bugged duneripper boss today. Same way as ApoAlaia.

I did get one empty Duneripper instance once, but I can confirm that faceted are nowhere to be seen.

I'm wondering based on OP's thought that this might be related to the fact that the Reapers stopped spawning in zones if this could actually be related to one of the biggest pain points with the Night Market - the fact that so many instances seem empty.

I assume the game logic is to spread players across all instances of zones as evenly as possible to keep server calculations on the lower end. However, if the Night Market is not spinning up new instances (and therefore also not closing others), that means we're likely to have entirely too many active instances, which means the game's logic is trying to spread the players too thinly and that's why nobody's able to zerg surf.
Essentially, it seems to be favoring spreading 300 players as 3 each in 100 instances instead of 30 each in 10.

That logic may be the root of the problem. And if Faceted only spawn once in an instance, that would explain why none are being seen anymore.

I have just killed a Faceted Lich and it gave me Exsanguinate buff from Archive. Did they rolled an hotfix or i was lucky that this instance was created newly?

I second the look into how the instances are being handled. Too many low populated instances could be as bad for performance as ones that are too full.

Even after today’s hotfix, the faceted foes are not spawning properly. As others have mentioned, it seems tied to instances.

Maybe they are spawning properly but somehow getting stuck in the walls. Here i suspect this is a Faceted Lich stuck in a wall in Sorrow's Friend district.

They are definitely rare. I finally encountered a faceted foe (gold glowing lich) a couple days ago in Sorrow's Friend area, but I couldn't do anything about it because it had spawned inside a wall of a building/ruins. I could not hit him and he ended up just killing me. Was really unfair to finally see one and couldn't even get a chance to defeat it....

I hope they fix these soon. Faceted Lich gives the most fun buff for 15 minutes. Exsanguinate.

We got this Lich on Friday; was right outside the Oasis side entrance to the Skirmish area.

However the district where I have found faceted foes most consistently (and abundantly, if you find one is not uncommon to find another two) since the hotfix is The Parch and by a large margin.

So far have found none in Skittering.

@ZOS_Kevin Could you please check the situation with the Faceted foes on PCNA? People reporting seeing them on other platforms, but PCNA seems to be not fixed.

I saw one quite some time ago but I was running a sneak build and in an empty instance. I have not seen any more since then despite roaming the areas looking for them. I would like to get the achievement for them.

We bashed a minotaur to death in Sorrow's Friend as well, it was stuck in a wall. So many of us were missing the achievement that ~20 of us bashed it to death at a certain angle to eventually get the kill. We also died a ton doing it, but I did manage to get the achievement done.

Did the same today Xbox na. The other DD was able to get fulm rune on it. I had to bash. We might have been able to get orb synergy to do damage but not sure. Pick up fire ring from skittering and mage from parch to help with damage possibly. Aim at ground to tap target it. The four of us would each travel to different guildies in NM to get in a different instance until we found it at the location in my sc, then we converged on her.

faceted shows up in circled above. there a small mob with a nix hound under an awning. our faceted showed up to the right (nix hound's left) of the nix hound.
