Won't be a problem, but is "variety to a meta" - which one is it, not a problem or OP?

Sorry if I can't take these kinds of statements seriously, we've had actual good open world players already comment on the thread and show debuff bars full of negative effects.

All it takes is opening a Cyrodiil stream for 5 minutes and you'll see half a dozen wannabe gankers with this mythic (luckily usually on bad, less refined builds) trying to kill the streamer.

Wanting "variety to a meta" is fine, but you should want for buffs to abilities and passives, not a mythic that functions as a life support machine to bad builds. You can't have both, because that's not how balancing works: if something is already OP (with the mythic) they're not going to buff it and break the game. Not even if it's terrible in literally every scenario not running this mythic.

“Won’t be a problem” means it’s not going to kill the game and it’s not some god-mode unbeatable strategy that will one-shot everyone it comes across, but it’s still strong enough to compete with the meta builds.

We always have “good” open-world players commenting on how something is going to be a massive problem that kills the game and needs to be nerfed…yet those same players never go anywhere. In fact, most of them wind up using the thing they said would kill the game. Do you know how many streamers and content creators I saw rage against subclassing only to run around Cyro stomping pugs on a subclassed Charm Warden?

I’ve seen enough panics over a piece of gear or an update. Some of them have been legit. But here? This is ZOS actually doing a good job, and I love to see it.

Who doesn't love unblockable undodgeable damage being your #1 damage taken every single fight?

Really hard to believe there are people actually trying to convince others this is healthy and good gameplay.

Ah yes, subclassing... we all know how that turned out. There are plenty of bad changes and additions to the game that people can be vocal about because you wind up having to play these things in order to stay competitive. Almost no one would care about subclassing if it wasn't the meta - that is exactly why people are upset about it.

Fast forward a year and a lot of development time is being put in to rectify this mistake. What could we have gotten with that time, I wonder... ranked arenas? New PvP zone a bit earlier?

I'm not saying this is a subclassing tier catastrophe, but the mythic already has and will continue to cause balance concerns down the line that will require significant effort to fix simply due to its design.

If it needs to be nerfed for PvP, keep the nerfs there. Don't touch the PVE yet. Not enough time has passed for it to be played thoroughly enough.

You certainly lived up to your user name with that.

Initial damage of status effects are direct damage and blockable but Esoteric Environment doesnt seem to reduce that damage by 50%. Just tested on Elemental Drain.

Also SPS is interacting weirdly with Draugrkin. It seems to be buffing about 30-40%

(Tested with Elemental Drain in a duel)

I played a few different builds over Friday and Saturday both with and without the mythic and I can say that the difference isn't particularly noticeable in general. People weren't dying any faster or more reliably with it than without. At one point I even forgot to swap the ring off of one character and spent a few hours on another without any mythic slotted (or indeed a ring!). Didn't even know until I went back to the bank because I wanted to swap it to another character.

Just to be clear - I'm not saying it actually makes no difference. Clearly the numbers show it does improve damage for many sources by a significant percentage value. What I am saying, however, is that it's not going to make or break a pressure build that is properly geared and played and the actual values that are expressed tend to only be a few hundred extra damage. Even with a status-effect heavy build that added up to about one extra weak spammable's worth of damage. Maybe 1k to 2k depending of lots of factors. Does it help? Sure! Does it beat out any other mythic? Debatable depending on your setup, playstyle, and opponent. Is it a world-changing mythic that will instantly turn anyone that wears it into a beast? Nope. Not even close.

Some people might be tempted to point out the number of pulse gankers running around right now with this mythic. But a week before the mythic even dropped they were already out there doing just that, garnering enough attention that forum posts were made about it. Obviously getting themselves warmed up for the new item. But the funny thing to me is that their numbers already seemed to have dropped off in Cyrodiil. My guess is that they've realized that even if they can potentially one or two shot a person, if they miss their chance they are done for. In Xv1 they stand a good chance of winning. In a 1v1 they are dead meat most of the time. And in large-scale siege fights they basically can't do anything because if they get even close to the action the sweat droplets from nearby combatants will pierce their armor and destroy their bodies instantly.

Finally someone else talking some sense
Zos then: Vengeance is just a test bro

Zos now: Do you want Vengeance permanent or permanent...
