If it's transmuted and i want to use it on an alt for research, then it should be available for research as it possesses the trait that i want to research. Either it does or doesn't possess the trait. this half way crap where i can use it for battle but not research is bogus. the trait is there it should then be available for research.

What you could do for example, is transmute an useless item into Nirnhoned, then deconstruct it for a chance of getting Nirncrux back. Then use your main character to craft a lvl 1 item with the Nirnhoned trait.

That way it can be used for research.

Yes we all know that can be done but it's not really an answer to the problem. A transmuted item has a trait that trait should be available for battle or research or it's not really there at all.

I would assume there is some way to abuse it if it would be possible. But I don't know what.

No, wait! Non-set items are not bound and cannot be bound, right? If you have a lot of transmute crystals, that would be a way to convert transmute crystals to gold.

Transmute a lot of non-set daggers into Nirnhoned and sell them. Although transmutes are not that easy to get, it's still easier than farming for Potent Nirncrux.

Transmuted items are bound, even non set items.

Ah, ok. Never even tried to transmute non-set items so I wasn't sure. Then I have no idea why you can't research the transmuted trait.

and b/c they are bound rthere is no reason why they should not be able to be used for research. This makes no sense.

It’s extra coding work they might not have had the scope for. Whether it literally can be done or makes sense to do isn’t the same as whether some of the company’s limited time and resources are going to be allocated to do it. (See also the Armory saving specific scripts or the Monster Slayer personality using your own weapon.)

We’ve had a lot of older QoL issues improved recently after the major staff cuts and the cuts to new content in favor of systems that reuse extant content. On the other hand, that expectation of a 30% margin from the gaming division is looming over Microsoft’s studios now, so resources have to be managed tightly. But who knows, maybe they’ll save us that one extra step of deconning for the trait mat to make a research piece for our alts. (Really this is most impactful with jewelry, but that pulverized business is the bigger issue there and affects more than research.)
