Why is everyone so adverse to grouping for NM?

To answer the OP’s question, it’s not that I don’t like grouping for NM. It’s just that my playtime is limited and sporadic and can be interrupted at any moment by RL issues that it’s hard for me to group because I may have to drop out at a moment’s notice and I don’t want to inconvenience other players. The only time I’ll risk it is when I think there’s a chance I won’t be interrupted long enough to finish.

The few groups I have tried in NM, they are all easy come, easy go. Just apply, get in group. Maybe say something when you leave, but not necessary. As long as you actually leave the group when you leave and not stay in the group offline.

Oh dear, what actually happens if someone forgets to leave the group before logging off? I might have been distracted enough to have done that once.

In reality, we see how long you have been gone, give you a few mins, because you might have been ZOS'ed and remove you, as we all have done the same, many many times.

Yeah. There is definitely a certain demographic that wants solo-only easy mode game with no challenges... but certain people used to silence and drive away perceived "elitists" by calling them ableist, gatekeepers, haters etc. So many people just stopped posting due to hostile atmosphere.

So Im seeing a lot of people saying "no one wanted harder" or "where's the proof people wanted" A simple search will tell you in 2025 alone over 10k players requested this change on the forums.

10,000 players? I find that hard to believe. I'm not saying a lot of players haven't requested it, but 10,000 unique players asking for this on the forums seems a lot.

I'm amending this, as I had said I quickly looked this up and misread it, Its 10k over 5 years leading up to 2026. My error.
However my point still stands and clearly no one else bothered to look this up.
To answer the other question posed to me below that.
Not everyone will post in the same channel. Some people stopped posting due to frustration, some left etc.
But denying they exist when it is possible to simply fact check it with google is absurd. I'm not disagreeing some of them may have been the same people but it was not and has not been relegated to JUST them. Many people agreed the power creep had gotten out of hand. At no point should a group dungeon be solo-able. but a lot of the base game ones where.

Do not misunderstand me I have some issues with the NM difficulty but more so ib the direction that id like to see all modes be combined.

Make trash difficult but solo-able include dallies for them,
Make first tier bosses small grp
Make second tier larger grp etc.
However do not generically water it down to pacify the "FOMO" crowd
Having to work for something is a good thing even in gaming.

Where can we look this up? I don't know of anywhere that we can find this data posted.

really only thing I think needs toned down is the trash. I think bosses and such are fine. Since most of the dailies are just click and item. Its kind of annoying if you don't want to have to group for those, but its just running past everything just to do a daily and not even killing anything. It's cool that I can do that, but not fun at all, its kind of boring design

I doubt it's 10,000 unique players, so we still have no idea how many have asked for this. It doesn't matter anyway, since you said yourself that the forum is not necessarily representative of the playerbase. Nobody disputes that some players have asked for this, but nobody can really put a number on it, either.

Idk, I don't really see raiders or pvpers acting like sky is falling when there is a casual solo event like Jester's or New Life. Some might skip it or say they find it boring, but that's it. I even know some rpers who skipped DB dlc due to the whole "give your soul to Sithis" thing or the Necrom dlc due disliking Telvannis. But whenever there's a pvp event or anything requiring grouping, there's always lots of complaints from solo onlys claiming that they must be able to do everything without changing their approach. Even though there is a ton of solo content already and even more on the way.
It's ok to not like every aspect of a game or a community, but it's not ok to demand that everything should be made just for one specific category of people. And the latter is what we see every time ZOS releases anything that's not questing. Both on pts and live forums.

    That wasn't my point.

In your post, you said, "...certain people used to silence and drive away perceived "elitists" by calling them ableist, gatekeepers, haters etc. So many people just stopped posting due to hostile atmosphere."

You also said, "There is definitely a certain demographic that wants solo-only easy mode game with no challenges."

So, you pointed out that some gamers stopped posting because other posters said they were ableist, gatekeepers, haters, etc. But in the same post, you said those who don't like/want content like the Night Market want an easy mode game with no challenges.

Rather than just seeing them as players who don't want/like content like the Night Market, you implied a bunch of other stuff. This "hostile" attitude exists on the forums as much as the "people who want difficult content are elitist and sweaty and want to shut other players out of content" does. And frankly they're both stupid attitudes that belong on a playground of an elementary school. (sorry mods, had to say it)

    Pot. Kettle. Black.

(anyway, off topic. I just thought it was funny that someone implied that some gamers felt silenced and stopped posting to the forums because of the hostile atmosphere towards them, but then went ahead and did the same thing to another group of gamers.)

I think the difference is with solo stuff you aren't forced to group, so it is easier to tackle no matter what your gaming preference is. With things that require grouping you have to take to time, put up with a group, and have a group willing to do what you want to do and be on the same page which is mostly the same for any event that requires grouping.

Once upon a time you played a rpg to be the hero, to stop the evil and to save the land. ESO has become the place to go commit the evil and relish in it. It's disgusting!

Wait until you hear about there being a guild full of thieves that you can join (a "Thieves Guild", if you will), or a brotherhood that operates in the dark which specializes in assassinations (a "Dark Brotherhood", if you will), or a class that revolves around necromancy... :eyeroll:

on skyrim we had addons to obliterate them both!

I haven't encountered anyone hostile yet doing the Night Market. There have been days where I just grab my tank and head out and start grabbing everyone I can find to very great success! As the only tank in my group. Im what you would call a bigger player but I dont have any qualms about anyone being in my groups. "CP do not maketh the man" 😎 If people are giving you a hard time, just find a group with a friendly tank. Trust me, no one is going anywhere without one😇
