A warning against doing content shortly after release

ZOS released night market and I jumped on the bandwagon to try to get most of the content done while people were excited about it and groups were being formed pretty regularly. I did the dungeons and then the trial and found out the Web Eater Trophy was bugged and they were putting in a hotfix for it.

I didn't think it was a big deal because I assumed they would retroactively apply the Web Eater Trophy to everyone who had already completed the trial but they didn't. Their advice is to run the trial a second time and you can get both the trophy and the bust. As a generally non-vet player I don't really care about the bust and just wanted the Trophy. I opened a ticket and asked them if they could just apply the trophy only to my account since I had already completed it once and they said they cannot do that.

So now I either have to find the time to re-run that trial again or make my peace with the trophy collection being incomplete. At any rate a lesson learned for me to wait for content to be out a few weeks before playing it so they can fix all the bugs that QA missed.

Feeling frustrated by this solution and disappointed in the customer service.

Yeah, unfortunately it has always been policy that support cannot/will not grant achievements missed due to bugs. Even if they KNOW it's a bug.

A while back there was a post about how someone lost access to a character for nearly a year or something when Support tried to grant an achievement that should have been granted by the game but bugged out. There’s a reason they won’t usually try it. Sometimes the (artificial) remedy is worse than the disease.

I’d also caution against assuming QA missed all this. There was an article on Fallout 76, which shares QA with this game, where QA testers noted repeatedly that they found many bugs and other issues not fixed before release. QA’s job is to find bugs, not to fix them, and since we never get the internal list of known issues, we can’t know what QA missed as opposed to what the people responsible for fixing the bugs haven’t gotten to yet. The people interviewed in that article were very frustrated with that gap, understandably.

The pinned thread said they are still investigating the trophy issue. Was there some sort of hotfix not mentioned there?

Do keep in mind that while running things at release does have the downside of having more bugs it also has the advantage of having more people to do stuff with.

Thanks just found that post. That solution to just do it again isn't really great when we already did what we needed to for the reward. Disappointing.

But the intention is to do it twice for the trophy and bust anyway.

Besides, the one achievement requires three runs so you get each wing debuff once. And then if you want to collect all helms, that’s nine total.
