The Night Market event is already dead?

The population is decreasing so much rapidly. It is quite difficult to find farming group yesterday.
I checked my guild which I'm member of it, and still not less people kept logging in though...

But, just 4 people stay in NM. Most of people ignore that contents already.

I felt that dev team had better remove joining condition of event dungeon and trial immediately.
That's so stupid idea. Just make it more open contents.

People are not willing to join (or just can't join because of permission condition) group contents with
such a meaningless grinding.

And that gold pursuit is also terrible idea. Just make it more "casual" endeavor.
If NM zone have massive amount of players constantly, then no problem. But actually not. (~_~)

There's a cap of 36 people per instance. So, it's easy to end up in a dead one. They need to fix that the next time it comes around.

When I was playing earlier (NA ET afternoon), the group finder listings were filling up quicker than I could click on them. Sometimes it's slow during off-peak times, it happens.

I even find groups at 6 am in the morning...and in the afternoon there are so many groups in the finder and they close so rapidly that its hard to orient yourself...so i don't know if its server or platform dependent...

I feel it is dying but not as dramatically as suggested!
I feel that the idea was ok but implementation was off especially with rewards (just same old junk) with added furniture (I dont participate in housing etc).
After trying few times I thought i was just wasting my time and jumped back into set dungeons,Trials and PVP!

Personally I am avoiding the 12 man content until the hotfix. I have had no issues completing 3+ daily quests on ~5+ characters every day so far except the first day (I didn't know about sharing the quests).

Yeah, I seem to be ending up in "dead" instances a lot. Didn't the Writhing Wall have an issue at first where the servers weren't shutting down instances properly, or something like that, such that players entering the Writhing Wall event zone often found themselves in "dead" or bugged instances? I'm wondering if there might be something similar going on here, where there are a lot of underpopulated instances because they got added when there were enough players to fill up an instance, but then as players left the instance it never got shut down. My thinking is that the Starlit Plaza and the three precincts should be treated as four separate zones, and whenever an ungrouped player goes from one zone to another the server moves them into an instance that has an appropriate number of players. Grouped players would need to be treated differently, since you'd want to keep everyone in the group in the same instance.

The time of day you're playing, on whichever server you're playing on, is probably a significant factor. But if there is indeed an issue with empty or nearly-empty instances not being shut down or merged together properly, then joining a group through the group finder probably bypasses that situation by making sure that any players joining a group will be moved into the same instance as the rest of the group.

I think this is the first time the group finder has been required to find people for what looks like an open-world zone, so I suspect a lot of people don't think to do that or consider it a last resort rather than a first step.

I've said a few times the Night Market reminds me of Guild Wars 2's meta-event maps, and even in that game, where most open-world areas work that way, with big group events you cannot do solo (some of them need 50-150 people to complete), and the same 'mega server' tech which means all the zones have multiple copies with different people in them, it's common to find newer players (some having gotten quite a long way into the game) confused that they can't just walk in and find people and will need to use the group finder to get into an active instance.

And that is surprising to you how? This is true for other online games, gyms, resaurants, theatres or pretty much any location where people spend their free time as it aligns with most peoples working schedule.... so it would seem pretty expected to me.

At the same time I was waiting alone at a brazen boss in a different district and saw no one so this game is dead because everyone doesn't automatically follow me to whichever precinct I choose to go solo.

Exactly. Although I've sometimes been surprised by how many people are online during off-peak times, especially during the working day. Admittedly when I'm able to see that it's because I'm also non-working, but for some reason I always expect it to be even quieter than it actually is.

Also today is a possible exception, at least for EU servers, because the first Monday in May is a public holiday in a lot of European countries (for May Day and/or International Workers Day) so a lot of people have the day off and will be online.

But if the OP is in Europe it's not surprising there weren't many people online when they posted because it was the middle of the night.

On PC-NA, groups fill very quickly even in off-peak hours. The only thing that's hard to fill in the dead times are groups for the dungeons or trial, but that's to be expected.

Not so much funny as meaningless because, regardless of whether they're making a claim or countering it, no-one ever bothers to say which platform and server they're talking about.

The cap needs to be 24-36 per zone (fun), not 36 for all 3 districts plus plaza (ghost town). They'd have to rework the way instances get allocated, but it would improve the experience dramatically.

It's the opposite problem on PS NA. Every time I look at all my guild rosters, 95% of them (not even exaggerating) show as being in Night Market.

I have spent the past several days trying to do daily Undaunted pledges queuing for those dungeons and cannot even get placed into one... ON MY TANK. Because I swear to God, everyone is in Night Market and that has killed off every other aspect of the game if you PUG things.

It's definitely something to do with the instance limit. It's so weird. If you go in solo you'll have an actual hard time finding other groups or players running the zones, but if you post a group in the group finder it fills up in just a few minutes. Great design choice by ZoS who was saying they wanted it to be an area where you can run into other groups.
And so, Akatosh revealed himself to a young Gaben, and granted him purpose.
"Grant them Steam sales," he commanded.
    And obey, he did.

Occasionally I run into some bigger groups. If I then go to another precinct, there's no one.

So if you run solo, and do not communicate in zone chat or look for groups in gf, it is unlikely you will come across with a bigger group. You would need to be in the correct precinct and at the correct boss at the correct time.

Let's say you are in London, and you want to come across with anyone of 35 specific people. They are somewhere in Whitechapel, Shadwell or Ratcliff, most of them most likely together. You pick one of those districts at random and go to some random street corner there. How likely are you going to see even one of those 35 people?

The instance limit is necessary for the challenge aspect of the area, however Zos probably should've let people know in a more apparent way you need to use the groupfinder if you're just looking for pugs and dont have your own 12 man from a guild etc. Just trying to wrangle in the squirrels in zone chat or finding them between three districts, bad time.

If you're doing that, I can see why you think its dead. If you know about the group finder and you're on PCNA or PCEU and still claiming its dead, you have an agenda lol.

I agree that it helps preserve the challenge, when it was first announced I thought it would have the opposite problem. Like when an event requires you to kill a delve boss and you can go the entire way there never seeing a living enemy andf the biggest challenge is seeing the boss has spawned in the mass of players and hitting them in the 2 seconds before they die again.

I agree that if ZOS expected us to need the group finder they should have made that clearer from the start, or before - in the promotional material for the zone.

I also wish more group leaders recognised that sometimes moving across the zone is the most challenging part. A lot of groups I've been in spent more time waiting for everyone to run solo or in small groups across the zone to where the leader chose to start (for some reason often the furthest boss from the door) than actually killing anything. The whole process would have been quicker for everyone if they'd waited at the entrance for everyone to get together then we'd moved to the boss as a group.

I'm sure someone will claim it's a deliberate test to exclude people who can't get themselves there, but none of them said that and none of them kicked people who couldn't make it. They just waited, watching them on the map trying, dying and trying again until eventually they got there - usually when some other people doubled back to escort them.
