The new house (Night's Den) doesn't hold a candle to the Hall of the Lunar Champion

The comparison is inevitable, given that both these houses have rooms to unlock through achievements. While in the Hall of the Lunar Champion I found immense spaces beyond the walls, here I found three small, windowless rooms, two of which are hideous, in complete disrepair. I understand they're meant to reflect the spirit of the three factions, but I don't like them. And they're so cramped that it'll be difficult to sweep the trash under the rug...

While I agree with you, you also didn't get Halls of the Lunar Champion for doing a simple introductory quest, and the three wings took considerably longer to open up than the Night's Den does. For the amount of effort, Night's Den seems about right. Now if your argument is they should have those rooms that you open be expandable later on with more effort, I fully support that.

Whiile I feel they played fast and loose with the term "wing" in the Night's Den, I do prefer the Night's Den layout over Lunar Champion. Mainly because my 3 additions to the Lunar Chanmpion never see any use. Ever. Perhaps once or twice when I first unlocked them so I could say "cool!" But realistically, after that I never bothered to decorate them because honestly, I'm too lazy to portal to another instance for each wing within the same home.

I like the Night's Den more. Love the house and it's special features. I haven't really bothered with my Elsewyr house.

The house also excited me enough to do my very first ESO trial in 6 years for that 150 favor. Ezabi is not happy this vault isn't open yet.

The base Night's Den is nicer than the base Hall of the Lunar Champion, but the wings aren't really worthwhile for the Night's Den, while they're pretty essential to Hall of the Lunar Champion.

I think getting a better base house is a fine trade, but it's certainly much less rewarding to unlock each wing.

And while I love the options and flexibility in Lunar Champion, one common piece of feedback was that it's too big.

I was initially disappointed when I unlocked a new 'wing' and found out it was a small, windowless room, but then relieved that it meant I wasn't that worried about unlocking the other two.

For a free house awarded for talking to various people in the starting area (basically this release's equivalent of an inn room) it's a big house, and like other people have said the extra rooms are easier to unlock than the wings in Hall of the Lunar Champion, so I suppose the fact that they're smaller is a reasonable trade-off. But given the weirdness of Fargrave I think they could have made some really cool environments if they had done full wings.

My Lunar Champion house was used for storage before we had the vault, I unlocked the wings and found it all a bit disjointed and too big so the main hall is just crammed full of "stuff". Nights Den I really love and will be making it my main home once I get bored of NM and decide to re-decorate it, yes the wings are a bit small but I think overall it is a good space and layout and so pleased to have the bank in a home.

I think the night den is just fine. You just have to work with what you got. The skittering one looks dirty and decrepit, so I chose to change the floor into dirt and turned the room into a graveyard and placed my vamp increase/decrease furniture in there. The ruckus room looks clean enough but I don't like those weird racks on the wall, but it can end up being a good parse/combat room. The glittering room I don't like the gold floor. It would make for a good trophy room, but you can also replace the floor with the regular fargrave floor and keep the gold trim and make 4 bedrooms out of the space. Windows are also available, just place fargrave windows on the walls and you have your window. The night den seems to be built with most/all assets from the fargrave furnishings, so you can use them to make everything match. This house is probably the best hub house because it's compact and has enough room for everything except dueling. The only shame I can give the house is that the built in bank doesn't let you sell on your guilds store, it only lets you access the guild bank which is 100% useless to almost everyone. The bank needs to let you access your guild store.

I like Night’s Den more than Hall of the Lunar Champion. Having a lot of fun decorating it. I’m fine with the small rooms so decorating won’t take forever. And, I like the decor that it comes with, very nice. This may be one of my favorites.

Honestly, I think there's a lot of genius in the Night Den's design. For hardcore housers who don't know which button to press to swap bars, they get everything that makes the house special and interesting without having to bash their heads against the Night Market or get a hard carry through content they don't enjoy. The rooms being just fine means they don't have as much reason to be upset about missing out because they can't do the content. For hardcore endgame players, the empty rooms being modest and having gentle themes is a bonus because they're very approachable from the perspective of someone who doesn't decorate. They're like inn rooms in that way, except you still have an attractive already furnished home on the other side, and the themes of each room do suggest a concept to run with in a way inn rooms lack. Plus, because the wing unlocks (the relics,) come with furnishing bundles, they're given everything they need to try their hand at decorating those spaces, without having to spend insane amounts of gold, or contend with the nightmare that is getting furnishings (crafted, achievement, or otherwise.) It's the perfect introduction to the housing system. For players who are *both* hardcore housers and hardcore endgame players, the wings themselves are maybe a little simple, *but* they get these furnishing bundles that they have the expertise and knowledge to appreciate -- the furnishing bundles have housing editor exclusive furnishings that they'd have to normally pay crowns to acquire, or furnishings crafted with expensive and hard to get style materials (Glass Eyes of Mora.)

Zenimax designed the Night's Den to be the perfect introduction to housing and a good tutorial, without meaningfully excluding casual housing players. It's genuinely so elegant, and I love it.

    Eh

The night den gives off balmora brothel vibes, so it appeals to me more lol. Way more snazzy. The style the flare. The only problem I have with it is I expected bigger "wings" unlocked with the relics but, tbh I prefer smaller homes anyway like proudspire. Can do so much more with that 700 items space.

I also prefer this because it appeals to more since its in Oblivion rather than a specific location in tamriel. So I don't feel out of place there like i did with the khajiiti stuff.

I love the Night's Den. It's cosy and attractive, and the bank/vault itself is worth 10 Halls of Lunar Champions to me. I have several enormous homes that I'm having fun decorating, and it's nice to have something cute I can relax in with little fuss.

(Plus, I'm not a huge fan of the Lunar Champion's weathered aesthetic.)

The Lunar Champion temple (house) is one of my favorites. Everyone has their taste; I see some people say it was to big etc. My complaint with the Lunar Champion house is the default room is to small, or the ceiling is to low. But opening the wings actually gives the player 3 more houses, because each is so different and offers a lot of possibilities. If you are not into housing you might not appreciate it, and treat it as storage. For example, I built a dwemer underwater base in the Moongrave Fane area.

I agree with the OP... What's cool about the Night's Den house is the vault functions, and how convenient is to set up utility NPCs at the entrance. I placed my vendor, banker, and deconstruction assistants behind the grated counters at the entrance. The house is very near a wayshrine so, that's a plus as well.

What I dislike about the house, is how dark it is. I get that it's part of the Night theme, however, the rooms shouldn't be so hard to light. The debris in the "Eyes" room should be removable, new debris furnishings would have been welcome. The housing team added so many varieties of paper lanterns, but didn't consider adding at least one more window furnishings, from the models we see in the 3 zones. I also have an issue with the choice of music in some houses. We still can't change the background theme. I find the music in this home a bit creepy, like the soundtrack from the vampire themed Skyrim.

I hope we can see the vault function as an optional furnishing in the future! I would like to have it in other houses as well!

A friend of mine just reminded me this isn't the first time I've heard single rooms called 'wings' of a house and maybe it's technically the correct term for bits poking out the sides, no matter how small?

Years ago we both worked for a charity that provided free advice and services to home owners and to keep it managable we limited the size of properties that qualified. One day this guy came in and almost got himself disqualified because he kept talking about the "wings" on his house - how most the problems were in the east wing but it meant moving his wife's craft supplies to the west wing and that was inconvenient because that's where he works etc.

Fortunately for him I thought it sounded like overkill to move all this stuff to the far end of what I imagined as a pretty big property so I asked more about the layout and found out the "east wing" is a standard conservatory attached to the living room and the "west wing" is an office/utility room between the kitchen and the garage. It was a normal 3-bed detached house, being described in terms that made it sound far bigger than it actually was.

Personally, I hate the ruined houses ZOS has made available on various occasions.
I've always modified them so that the damaged parts (broken, with debris, moldy, etc.) are perfectly hidden and the beauty and order are highlighted.
This is part of my nature.
In this Night Den house, I notice a great contrast between the central part and the wings, which are unlocked later.
Besides the decidedly small size (far below my expectations), I find it almost impossible to hide the damaged parts, although I'll try...
When I went to deposit the relics and found those rooms behind the wall... I felt like when I was a child, opening a chocolate egg and finding a small, ugly surprise inside :-)

I don't mind the rooms as they seem on brand for the factions, but maybe future night markets can "upgrade" the rooms as new rewards to get people to go back in future events. Make them shinier/fixed/larger/cleaner, etc. Just an idea to keep Night Market rewarding.

Also the next 5K favor upgrade should allow guild sales with the house bank.

I adore the Night Den. Maybe it's not as grand as the Hall of the Lunar Champion, but I also can't make sense of the Hall as a place where someone would live. It's a temple with portals to three drastically different places scattered across Elsweyr. A curious place, yes, but I have trouble seeing it as a place to live, work, or relax.

The Night Den comes already decorated as a relaxing lounge with a beautiful view of the Fargrave sky. I plopped down some houseguests and assistants, and making no other changes I'm already tempted to make it my primary home. (My current primary home is also in Fargrave, incidentally, so I may be biased...)

well, naturally. One is khajiit and one is not. But that does not mean it is worthless. Khajiit just wishes there were higher tiers of gold storage than "just under statue's boobies" for around 10 mil. This one has many times that much gold, and wishes to drown that statue in it.

The Night’s Den came nicely furnished and when you unlock the three rooms, you get three more furnishing coffers to go with them. That’s pretty generous.

Hall of the Lunar Champion had three areas that were hard for me to figure out how to even use. I ended up furnishing the house in the third one but the other two and the entry are empty. I have seen some amazing builds in the first area but I gave up on it.

I feel that Night’s Den is a better deal, even if you don’t ever unlock the three additional rooms.
