Night Market is a disgrace of hardcore play

Newbies I know get killed in droves, most of them give up. Lot's of friends ask why this freaking stuff so hardcore and difficult. Great job. A super "fun" addition to the game.

Funny, almost everyone in my guilds have been loving it. Maybe 3-4% do not.

So I agree, "A super "fun" addition to the game."

i think it definitely needs a lower difficulty mode, which i also *said* during the u49 pts cycle.

I spent about an hour in Night Market.

Did the intro quests mostly by sneaking by. Finished a couple dailies the same way.

Combat is a near impossibility solo and from what I've seen Zone Chat is dead, nobody trying to group etc.

I managed to kill 1 boss with some people for a whole TWO trade bars...

So for my hour of playtime I got 300 Favor total.. and 2 trade bars. I can think of about 100 better ways to spend that time in-game.

I tried waiting by the door and one or two players comes in, runs ahead no grouping, dies, and leaves. I can stand at this door all day and nobody is coming to group. This content is for like 1% of the playerbase who is into trials or have premade squads that play the game. Everybody else is gonna be left pounding sand.

Yeah, I went in expecting it to be difficult because, you know, group content.

I saw one or two other players and they died almost instantly.

I managed to stay alive a bit longer by healing myself, but didn't manage to actually hurt any of the enemies before I died. Saw someone else taking on a boss, so tried to hop in. They died and then I died.

When I next go in I am going to see if there are any groups available, but I did see someone ask for groups but no answers.

Hopefully one of my guilds will be running groups without requiring discord.

It's largely not the most fun to do and too much the same grind here and there. I think you can get more trade bars by picking flowers and buying with tomb points for less headache.

I didn't come in with expectation of this being content but it enforced this is the direction, grind and run around for stuff that has nothing to do with Elder Scrolls. Said this before, if they had a single player game out I'd play it, not this. They clearly want this to be something else they don't have to invest heavily in. sigh, don't know what feel about all this.

Hard content is good. Honestly, the death of modern gaming can be traced to a lot of things but one of those things being making content easier so everyone can have all the things.

    Not a good first impression.

Found it to be almost empty of players, no one talking in zone chat, everyone running away and not helping to fight anything. Wandered around just doing my faction quest and whatever dailies I could find.

Before the inevitable git gud scrub, I can solo my way around just fine thank you but the trash mobs aren't fun after about 5 minutes and there didn't seem to be much interest in any of the bosses or challenges. The rewards are just trash. Managed to find one boss fight going on with actual other players, but it kept falling apart because people were dropping like flies and respawning somewhere else and trickling back. After like 10 minutes I got 2 trade bars. Oh and I think I got some mothers sorrow and plague doctor pieces. Thrilling.

Maybe it will be fun when I'm able to go with an organized guild group or if I get a busier / better instance another time.

    Dunno, I've been having fun.

Just need to coordinate in group finder or zone chat, or roam around to find the current ballgroup and tag alongside them.

Keep in mind that even if you join a group in group finder, it's possible that there may not be enough room in the party leads instance if they made it while inside the night market, necessitating everyone to exit and then re-enter the night market. That's the only real annoyance I've got.

Might be beneficial to have the crossed swords/active combat on bosses to give solo's an indicator of where the current instance group is fighting.

so... i assume walking blindly through one of the three doors wearing my overland gear and getting clobbered is the intention? is there anything else to do or do i tech for solo group dungeon runs and see if i can solo it?

Hard content can be good if players get to chose if they want to do it or not.

Hard content that apparently forces groups on a playerbase that is known for liking solo play, with rubbish rewards, and has a complicated boss progression & inability to respawn at point of death, is not good.

Hmm... After seeing these posts about the difficulty, I'm actually now curious how the difficulty compares to, say, a normal group dungeon (base game, not DLC) or IA cycle-wise.

You just have to pick a faction in the first quest. No combat necessary.

Yes, you have to collect splinters and assemble the relics necessary to unlock the dungeon bosses. You get a furnishing version you put on a pedestal, kinda like the Elsywer house.

If the rewards are rubbish then just don't do it? No one is forcing you to do it, and if by your own admission the rewards are bad, then why do you care?

I'm glad there's an event with difficult content. I'm not even a PvE player; I primarily play PvP, but I'm really looking forward to jumping into the Night Market with a bunch of friends.

The group I'm rollin with, we're doin fine so far with a 6 man 1T,1H,4D makeup. And thus far we haven't run across anything too difficult to handle. Though it does get interesting when non-group players come runnin through hot with a train behind them. But we're finding that exciting. :)

I don't care about the difficulty personally, I made rosters in guild and we'll be going for most of the rest of the week. But the rewards, complicated boss progression and the ridiculous rez thing make what could be neat, lame. Also, I said this somewhere else, but who exactly is the night market for? Solo players day it's too hard, group players will probably think it's too easy. It's the answer to a question that nobody asked. I save final judgement till I play it, my guild discords are loving the fights and bosses so far but everyone is crapping on the rewards and the grindy nature of it.

Why do I care? Because its the only content dropping for this part of the year & it would be a shame for it to fail because it has been ill- conceived or implemented. Posts saying players are trying it once & then giving it up is not good for the health of the game.

(Personally I run vet trials & pvp for fun so ‘hard’ content doesn’t bother me much, & I’ll be running this with guild groups. But not everyone is like me so I try and see it from their perspective, and not my own selfish viewpoint.)
