PvP Magicka Sorcerer pure build

Hi everyone!

Returning player trying to update my mag sorcerer PvP build, so I want to include Death dealers fete to it.

Current build:

Monster set: Mighty Chudan
Armor: bright throats boast
Jewelry: rallying cry
Weapon 1: master's perfected lighting staff
Weapon 2: rallying cry ice staff

Skills frontbar:
Crystal frags
Hardened ward
Streak
Destructive touch
Endless fury

Skills backbar:
Critical surge
Dark deal
Bound aegis
Elemental susceptibility
Haunting curse

I know, it is an off meta approach, and I like it this way, so I want to keep my master staff lol. And I'm aware that update 50 will buff pure classes, so the reason I don't want subs. Lastly, I don't like the looks of boundless storm, which is why Chudan took place.

What I am thinking to include death dealers:

Monster set: Mighty Chudan

Jewelry: death dealers fete + 2 trainee
Weapon 1: master's perfected lighting staff
Weapon 2: vateshran ice staff

I understand that trainee in the armor would be optimal, but I also don't want to flip the build upside-down.
My current build still slaps in PvP, but what you think of the 'improvement?

No RC is not a must. I actually love your move to fit in a mythic and try stack more magicka instead of RC. RC is just a great set for solo or in small group but I think you can lean into the mag sorc identity more, and probably more fun too. Willpower would work, is not the highest stacking you can achieve probably.

But the point with grace or willpower is to get the 3rd bonus by using jewel also. If you aim for the 2 bonus only, then might as well keep your veteshran on back bar. Also thing about why you are stacking magicka.

More damage? Then you need the magicka on front bar.
Bigger shield? Maybe more magicka on back bar is ok.

I feel you could play around with various sets that come to your mind because it will not make or break your build, most of the build comes from the abilities you choose to play on your bars and then you pick sets to complement.

The current meta drastically calls for crit resist if you are solo or 1vX.

Without it the build will "play fine" however youll be inconsistent and randomly drop dead because someone is critting you for 125% bonuses. For me, I run all 7 impen with rallying cry, and the crit resist mundus. Others run the reinforced heavy trainee chest because it technically can be more for an averaged out parse with an average enemy.....However you should be assuming worst random case scenario where an enemy gets all crits.

I explained the current crit meta in another thread, so ill just spoiler it below here.

Before the impen changes most builds had 3k to 3400 crit resist which is 45% to 52% range of crit mit. The average pvp build was around 10-22% critchance with maybe 50-70% crit dmg........So generally crits only rarely did a 20-30% damage boost roughly. On off chances youd run into crit build nightblades that could reach up to the 120% mark hitting 70% crit bonuses on you.

Mind you we did not have major/minor force+prophecy and subclassing combinations pushing pvp builds to 30%-60% critchance with 90% to 190% crit damage........So today's numbers without RC you are looking at around 2112cr or 32% crit resist. Realistically you are getting hit with 2x or 3x as frequent 60% to 125%capped crits

Right, so from your advice, Rallying cry must stay.
Would you know what to remove in order to include the Death dealers?

Well the current meta layout is

monster set (1 piece + 5 piece
heavy trainee chest (1.5x piece bonus)
mythic (5 piece bonus equivalent)
Rallying backbar (2-4 piece + 5 piece)
Damage set frontbar (2-4 piece + 5 piece)

Basically the most dense amount of bonuses possible. Arena weapons have fallen out of favor because it restricts your skill choice in order to get its "5 piece" which then you need to fill the remaining 3 slots with something.

Got it, there is always the meta.

But now thinking a little outside the box, what do you think about my proposed build using 2 trainee and vateshran? I find it interesting because the 2 piece of trainee adds 1900 magicka.

Alfiq might be better, especially with sustain mastery passive U50. You do not need recovery and can get more magicka. In fact I'll assume you use withmothers brew with this, which you can swap to a max magicka food in U50 too.

Since you want to keep destro staff you'll have to pick RC back bar or grace of ancients with DDF.

Reason I am less of a fan with veteshran with 2 trainee is that grace combo give more magicka but defaulting to RC is probably good too.
