Issue: Accidental Tome Claims via "Hold" Mechanic

I find it unacceptable that claiming items in the Tome only requires holding the "Acquire (Hold)" key for 0.6 seconds instead of a "Do you want to claim this?" "Yes" or "No" dialog.
It's also assigned to a keyboard shortcut, making it even easier to accidentally hold the key down for too long.
Furthermore, this design deviates from all other functions in the game.

Strongly agree. I have almost accidentally purchased items more than once in the short time the Tome has been available.

The whole Tome interface seems full of choices that deviate from the rest of the game for no meaningful reason. It leaves me with the impression of being the work of a single designer who never really uses the keyboard+mouse interface in-game.

A confirmation page would be a big improvement. I guess they did it this way to make it easier for us to claim multiple items if we finish all the weeklies together and/or use cache, but a quick confirmation wouldn't be much of a hardship even then.

I have claimed something I didn't want (AP scrolls when my PvP character is already 5* - hoping they can be used in Veterancy!) because I was on the wrong page. Must have caught a shoulder button I guess. I noticed just too late to stop in time. Luckily they were only 150 points I think, but it's still annoying

I agree a confirmation box would both be more useful and more consistent with the rest of the game.

I haven't had this problem yet, but only because I expected it to happen from past experience with other games so I'm very careful to check before selecting an item that it's the one I want.

I suspect it's the work of more than one person, but only because there's inconsistencies within the design too like the challenge pages using a completely different UI design (which is also different to anything else in the game).

The whole thing looks like it was thrown together very quickly by people without much experience on ESO, so they may well have not known and not had time to check what the normal format is in this game.

It could also be that this is what they meant, that they were talking about experimental developments.

That's why we need to tell them what we like and what we don't, and perhaps with a bit more emphasis.

I personally prefer the current system to pop-up dialogues since I haven't had the issue of pressing on a reward I don't want for that long, and it's been convenient to me.

I've had more issues previewing things in the event ticket vendors when for some reason it thinks I double-clicked on an item and it would just buy it.

I agree that the design is starkly different from the one we are used to.

That said, from what I read on the forum, if a player uses only the free tome track they will always need more points to unlock the pages than to claim all the rewards from them. And with ZoS plans to auto claim rewards at the end of the season we will end up with the rewards we did not choose anyway.

I don't know if that's a valid argument for this UI Inconsistency.

I like the hold-to-claim functionality and find it quick and rewarding, but it's inconsistent with everything else and unintuitive. I haven't heard of people being unable to claim it.

The Tome also has an instant preview on hovering over an item, which is also modern and has its perks, but was a bit jarring at first.

I don't know if there are accessibility issues with these new UI features. It seems like an experiment with more up-to-date UI elements.

Hold to claim will always feel like a controller thing and feel odd on PC to me. Just give me the prompt yes.

For me, it's the other way around. It doesn't prevent me from claiming Tome's rewards, but rather from accidentally claiming too many that I don't want.

Most claim functions are designed so that you have to press two different keyboard shortcuts to confirm an action, preventing accidental long presses or pressing the same key twice. For example, in the Crown Crates menu (F3), Gem Extraction uses the shortcut E to select and the shortcut R for Extract or F for Extract All.

They need to make it like purchases in other parts of the game. The preview is terrible; I can't turn my character while it is active. Double click and confirm like everything else. I haven't made accidental purchases but I'm just not sure why this is different; is someone totally new working on it?
