Companion progression is extremely slow and unpleasant

I use my companion for every dungeon, delve, incursion and public dungeon my main character go, including some quests and after almost 2 months of playtime it barely reached around 65% of progression! The level bar have ZERO percentage numbers so it's just a guess.

Why Companion progression bar move SO SLOW?? I'm a casual player I have no time to play hours and hours of ESO every day. So what's the justification to make companions levels and rapport SO ANNOYING?

Is this some sort of punishment on casual players? Some kind of way to make an ESO feature very unpleasant?

Aren't you changing ESO structure, class and all sort of things, ZOS? What about make companions level progression faster, easier, better? Why not?

Geez...

They are increasing XP next patch, so that should help.

I found they get the first 10 levels relatively quickly, and if I am in public dungeons with an XP scroll that tends to help a lot.

XP to max level can be done in 2-3 hours of public dungeon farming. I did it myself for all companions in a loop in Gorne and Vile Manse. Once it's done, you never have to do it again as companions share level across all your characters.

Reputation can be maxed in a couple of weeks doing the 2 daily quests the companion likes (except for Bastion, who only has 1 favoured quest).

How much quicker do you want it?

They stated they were a casual player. All game play, not just farming, should also have a feeling of progress.
There is no rule of law in this game that says you have to play daily not play the way others play, and no matter what frequency of play you should experience the feeling of progression. Will it take longer? Of course. Should it take months? No.

All that being said, there is an add-on that lets you get more detailed information about progression level at a glance, if you are willing and able to use it.

Maythor: honestly we're getting the supermarket treatment here ... shrinkflation with the addition of simply moving things about so they seem fresher .. all the while being told a corporation is our friend :P

If it comes with strings, it ain't free. It isn't a gift with purchase; you were overcharged.

I_CraftwithPntButter: 2023 is the year your supposed to be doing better , remember ? (Still waiting)

KlauthWarthog: Well, they can definitely measure fun on their spreadsheets, otherwise they would not be able to nerf it so consistently.

I maxed them all out on a 2XP event popping a few 150% XP scrolls I collected doing solo pulls in spellscar.

The levels flew by super-fast because you can accumulate 100 000XP per pull. Even more if you are enlightened.

They're buffing it for Update 50 in June.

They're slow because they only get experience from enemy kills, not quests or any other source.

If you want to level them, use Training gear and try the Sentinel zombie farm, Skyreach, normal Dragonstar (which is soloable), or the Spellscar. For overland, it may be best to group with 1 player for 10% EXP boost and sharing kill credit.

I haven't had anything left to do with that system for years now it feels like, a dead system which is neglected and left unfixed.

Companions only get XP from kills. And the amount of XP companions receive is increased with rapport.

If your companion's progression is slowing to a crawl, you likely need to look into bumping their rapport to the next level.

It will be easier with update 50. What i would focus on is ensuring you have the highest tier of rapport.

Next, since companions omly gain exp based on kills, then you want to sync up with that.

Get some heartland conquerer gear with the training trait. Then make sure you ahbe that trait on weapons and armor.

Next, make sure you are using a cp ranked character.

If you have them use experience scrolls or drinks.

Best places I have found to grind companion levels solo are public dungeons and normal dragonstar arena.

I remember it used to be a lot easier to level them in public dungeons, but the I think the PD XP rates got nerfed a couple of years ago. To level Tanlorin and Zerith last year I had to resort to DSA and BRP.

Max Rapport + EXP scrolls + AoE build for efficient farming = max lvl in < 2h in all tier 1 farming spots.
These are nBRP, Spellscar and Skyreach.
I would consider Solo Dragonstar Arena and all Public Dungeons tier 2 farming spots.
