Are monster kill challenges working as intended?

Or is it just me. I got the defeat 1000 creatures in Hew's Bane, Gold Coast and Wrothgar seasonal challenge.
Earlier today, I tried the Wrothgar public dungeon group event challenge and after completing it, realised the other hadn't incremented at all despite killing 50+ orcs and Dwarven constructs. At first I thought it was not being able to do 2 challenges at the same time, but going into a delve got the same result.
So is the challenge broken for me? For everyone? Or does it only working on landscape, and the description need clarifying.
