I'm an idiot & haven't been using the cake for trade bars

So I was under the impression that the cakes were more or less for collecting these days and you no longer needed to activate them. So I've been doing my crafting dailies, repeatable missions, etc since the start of the event and haven't activated the cake once. Happened to do so today randomly and got trade bars.

Damn. It.

You're not the only one. I realised Saturday. Told my missus I'd been a dumb dumb and then she realized she'd missed the bars too haha.

Don't feel too bad. It's only a digital currency for fluff in an online game.

I almost forgot like 3 or 4 different days now. I think for me it's the event dropping at the same time with the new whole Seasons stuff especially with the Tomes tasks and all of it somehow getting mixed up in my brain

Kind of related - but, are the only sources for Trade Bars at the moment the Jubilee cake and Tomb?
Buggered if I've found another source yet.

Yes, just the daily cake slice and purchasable as tome rewards.

Yes. It's right in the event description -

"You can earn a bevy of Trade Bars by indulging in your sweet tooth during Anniversary Jubilee. Using the memento each day of the event, and interacting with the cake, rewards you with a sugary 300 Trade Bars for use in the new Gold Coast Bazaar reward store."

@ZOS_Kevin Just a note that the wording and implementation here is mismatched since the cake is implemented as an in-game tool, not a memento. I don't know if it's possible to edit the event description to reflect that.

No. You have to complete the chef's quest and then use the cake. If you haven't done it yet, you can grab the quest from the Crown Store (free in the prologue/quest starters section)

I haven't missed any cake days yet, but I dislike this mechanism. Just because there is so much in this game to keep track of! Especially with an Event and a brand new Season model to learn.

They did away with having to use tools/scrolls/etc in order to get the XP boost, they should do away with having to Eat Cake in order to get bars.

(so many Let Them Eat Cake jokes, even if the phrase is misquoted)

I post a reminder about the cake in zone at least once a day, usually Vvardenfell. Responses indicate that some didn't realize the cake rewarded trade bars. I guess we need more reminders in various zones.

You had to do the same thing to claim tickets - that’s not a change. You used to have to use it for the XP buff too but that went away a couple years ago.

Then there was me who was eating the 2025 cake for two days in a row XD, AFTER getting the 2026 already too! I just forgot to swap it out on my crafter

At least at the moment the tomes very much has more the feeling of an event than the dailies and the endeavors had before, its not surprising that people are missing the actual event elements.

I use the Event Tracker addon to remind me to get my Event Trade Bars. It originally reminded me to get Event Tickets, but the author has wonderfully updated it to remind for tickets.

I like the fact that we do not have to use the cake to get the XP boost, but I admit that it is hard to remember to use it once per day to get the bars. I think I have done it every day but I can’t be 100% sure.
