I remember doing dolmens and getting a box every time, now it's about every third one. Why does there have to be a cooldown on anniversary boxes especially, I don't see the point.

Because as evidenced by the glut of Jubilee 2024.. It took ages to recover from that one. Too many boxes flooded the game with an absurd overabundance of furnishing plans, motifs, style pages, mats, recipes, etc. etc..

Well not only is there a cooldown the boxes are absolute garbage now too. Even if there were no cooldown they aren’t worth farming. Unless you just want to load up on alchemy mats and the same purple recipes over and over. The big nerf came last year a few days into event. Gold mats always dropped way too much. I understand the nerf and kind of prefer it so the market isn’t flooded but there was no need for a cooldown. This is suppose to be the one event so ppl can try to obtain items without having to pay big amounts but it’s nearly impossible now. Just another mediocre event like the rest now.

Oh I dunno about that. My bank is rapidly filling with furnishing plans and motifs. Getting a fair share of gold mats (p-roe, dusts, etc). Nirncrux in respectable quantities. And we're only into day 3? No complaints from my end that's for damn sure.

Guild trader prices are already plummeting too. Definitely a buyer's market for the foreseeable future.

[Edit] Last year's nerf to gold mats was a needed correction because they were dropping waaay to easily. A couple/few days in and I already had over a dozen of each before they corrected it, including aetherial dust. That was just too obnoxiously high.

Sry., but that's elitist [snip] Anniversary is supposed to be exactly that!
Something to bring the prices down. Something to make rare motifs available.
Something to make to make master writ crafting accessible.

Do you have any idea how much money it takes a new player these days to get to Grand Master Crafter? It's ridiculous...

Just fyi, ever since AWA you can get True Style Master done very cheaply by learning the 8 remaining blue books on 6 characters (plus two more motifs somewhere). It’s not 50 unique motifs.

Could not agree enough! Also it appears that new motifs were not added to the pool again this year (this happened in a previous year too iirc, and it's a major bummer).

I don't see how having to grind Craglorn rifts and having to sell 10000 cheap junk motifs while trying to undercut fellow player is better for an average player.
Yes, limiting boxes means less loot, but individual motif drops are more valuable this way. Before this grinding craze, finding a rare motif/aetherial dust/cipher was actually lucky and you could get a lot of gold. Nowadays most motifs are under 5k gold while prices on crown servers, ingame houses, weekly merchant items and the like are still crazy high. It is much harder to save up gold for a new player these days, all because of zos allowing nolifers to devalue everything and anything.

I don't support nerfing the drop chances, though.

P.s. also, the master crafter thing is easier than ever these days due to accound wide achieves.

Er, this is not true by any standard. A LOT of Motif Chapters are still well over 15k or so, not just "rare" ones. I've got a number of Motifs in my bank already that are worth a decent amount and they aren't rare ones that people are "lucky" to get, a lot are just from content a number of people don't regularly run.

Also Ciphers are still EXTREMELY rare. In all the years the Jubilee has been running, I've only gotten two from it, and none outside of it. I've been playing for years and years and never once gotten one to drop outside of the Jubilee.

I've been participating in this event since release. Back when you could only get boxes from dailies, it was super lucrative and you didn't really have to grind a lot (just doing writs on a few characters was enough). I was making millions without having to go out of my way and I've previously bought lots of crown items, manors, etc just by doing writs and selling dungeon motifs. If I wanted to get similar profits today, I'd have to grind like crazy.
When new players ask how to farm gold, it's kind of hard to give any advice. Anything short of selling carries or nolifing is massively devalued.
Infinite grind just turned the game into rat race, and I fail to see how it can be rewarding for anyone who doesn't play 24/7.

I can understand the fixes the devs made during last years anni-event. Gold mats really where dropping too much.

But what I cannot understand is the CD on boxes from dolmen and other sources, especially since we do have a cap in place on how many boxes a player can get per day (or did the devs remove that cap???).

In addition to that. The drop for motifs is really *** up now. I admit that during the first anni-event ever motifs where dropping - perhaps - a bit too often. But now?! WTH and [snip]!!! Since the start of this years event I have been doing crafting dailies on 12 chars, which gave/gives me 84 boxes per day, plus another 84 boxes on the frist day, because I took the crafting quests a day before  . Now guess how many motifs I got so far?! In average 4 motifs per day - 4 ... FOUR !!!! That is 1 motif every 21 boxes or every 3 out of my 12 chars 1 motif!

What do I get instead of motifs in an abundant amount - Jubilee Furnitures - , which I already got tonns of and therefore don't need and don't want (since they are bound and cannot be sold).

Sorry, but this is just stupid  .

For next years anni-event we urgently need some overhauls!!!
    • Remove all unnecessary CDs on anni-boxes. (The cap per day, per Char is more than enough.)
    • Remove the Jubliee-Furnitures from the box loottable(s) and put those into a vendor where players can buy them for gold (prices should be somewhere between 100g and 1.000g, perhaps 5.000g, depending on the item). That way there will be some sort of gold sink.
    • Increase motif drop rates at least by 50% from what it is now. More would be better.
    • Add all missing motifs to the loottable(s), except those which can only be acquired through the crown store or special means.
    • Make recipes curated drops, so that you will only get those you are missing. If you already got all from the loottable, let them drop rng.
    • Increase the variety of recipes. At the moment it seems that there are only a few in the loottable.
    • IMPORTANT! Do NOT make it so that recipes and motifs are competing for/over the same drop-slot in the loottable. GIve each their separate slots! (For example: 3 slots for resources, 1 slot for motif or furniture plan, 1 slot for recipe or furniture plan.)

So what's the problem?? The "flood" is temporary. What annoys me is if you dont' get a mythic drop or item drop then "it's RNG". When you get something good "oh, we need a cooldown". Which is it?

    It is not temporary.
And it has nothing to do with leads. Leads are a bad comparison, they are not sellable and your good/bad luck does not really affect other players.
The ability to farm unlimited mats and motifs from event boxes, on the other hand, just destroys the most casual-friendly farming methods: writs and gathering. It might feel good at first to see a full inventory of stuff, but it was actually easier to farm gold before this event box change. You had fewer boxes, but the drops were more expensive on average (even purple food and blue furnishing recipes sold for a few thousands) and inventory management was easier. And of course, doing crafting writs used to be more lucrative.

Well the marked is in bad shape because there are no more rare items to sell outside furnishing skematics.
