Could/Should the cooking system be updated?

So I was talking with some guildies the other night and the conversation turned to the cooking system. We bounced around some ideas like spices that could be added to recipes to enhance them, new food animations, and the oddest I heard was a monster hunter style sit down and eat at certain hubs with regional specialties like Grahtwood BBQ platters, Wayrest seafood pasta, or West Weald wine roasted beef. But what do you guys think?

the only thing i think that should probably be handled with provisioning is some way to make more of the foods useful

right now generally speaking everything thats under cp150-160 recipes or the "scaled" event recipes are borderline useless because they are just flat out weaker

most people i know who use food at low lvl just gets the "scaled" foods (most of the event ones like dubious camoran throne, sugar skulls, etc) since those are useful from lvl 1 to cp160

    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

That's a very fair point too. Food and drink could be scaled to the players level and skill points invested while tailoring certain recipes to specific playstyles.

Crafting system is fine for me, but older recipes could be improved.

Some MMOs have food items that you can place for the group to eat—like how you can eat from another groupmember's memento like the Sweetroll one, the anniversary cake, or the campfire, but with a buff. The issue with doing with ESO food is that people use such different food. The ingredients for these can also be grindy, but if they're easy, it's a nice touch.

It would be nice if they did this for the fishing or Cyrodiil consumable buffs. Then everyone can gobble up some food before their group activity.

I feel like a lot of the mats could be condensed, there are so many different crafting materials in this game that it's gotten ridiculous.

All the Following could become White Meat:
    Poultry, Small Game, White Meat

The following could be Red Meat:
    Game, Red Meat

The following could become Fresh Fruit:
Apples, Bananas, Jazbay Grapes, Melon, Pumpkin, Tomato, Surilie Grapes, Comberry, Acai Berry, Guarana, Lemon

The following could become Fresh Vegetables:
Beets, Carrots, Corn, Greens, Potato, Radish, Garlic

    The following could become Grain:
Flour, Millet, Saltrice, Barley, Rice, Rye, Wheat

    The following could become Flavoring:
Cheese, Seasoning, Bittergreen, Jasmine, Lotus, Mint, Rose, Ginkgo, Ginseng, Yerba Mate, Ginger, Honey

That leaves a handful of other ingredients as their own thing:
Fish, Frost Mirriam, Coffee, Isinglass, Metheglin, Seaweed, Perfect Roe, and Bervez Juice

Something like this would cut down the number of Prov ingredients from around fifty down to fourteen. It would make it a heck of a lot easier without so many different mats that could all be condensed to do the same thing. Of course that also means some things would need to be changed, as these things are afaik currently coded as "Drink" mats and "Food" mats, so trying to combine them to be used as either would likely take some recoding.

Provisioning is in desperate need of an overhaul in my opinion
