Dungeon Drops and the same item over and over

I have been running the same dungeon over and over, and the equipment binds automatically.
But I keep getting the same piece over and over. I just killed a boss, got the same piece of equipment. Intermediate chest in the next room....SAME ITEM...I so far have had 8!
Am I doing something wrong? I thought you were supposed to get what you did not have....or has that changed and it is random?

You need to bind the item or it will continue to drop.

Treasure chests that aren't tied to bosses are not curated and certain bosses only drop a certain type of gear. For example, the final boss drops jewelry and weapons but not the other bosses. So if you're killing the same 1 boss over and over without clearing the whole dungeon and looting treasure chests, then you'll get the same thing over and over from that boss even if you already have it bc you got everything from that boss' loot table.

If you're clearing the whole dungeon and still getting curated items, then it's bugged.

If it keeps giving you the same thing, it's not binding automatically. That's actually not a vanilla feature; autobind only comes from addons.

It does say "bind on pickup," but it's not bound until the 2h timer runs out. If it still has the 'uncollected' tag, that means it hasn't yet bound, and as such you'll still be eligible to get it again. As you get near the end of stickerbook, it's easy to end up getting repeats of the last piece if it's not bound.

I think that only applies if you're running the dungeon in a group. I'm pretty sure that whenever I solo a dungeon that I haven't collected everything from yet, any new item I get will automatically bind when I pick it up, since I'm not in a group and there's no one else I could potentially trade it to.

If you are solo in a 4 man gear DOES immediately bind, you don't have to do anything, there is no two hour timer.

As mentioned above certain bosses drop certain gear, only the final boss drops weapons and jewelry, so if you have all the armour pieces from any dungeon you will get repeats and only get new items from the final boss.

If you don't have all the armour and are doing the whole dungeon getting only the same piece that does sound bugged.

@tomofhyrule it is not from addons if you are solo.

If you're soloing the dungeon (which you haven't said), then @Frayton's explanation is probably the reason this is happening.

Certain bosses apparently have a rather limited selection of gear that they can drop, so once you've collected everything that those bosses can drop you'll just get already-collected gear.

And the chests were never included when curation was added, because that would make it too easy to collect everything by just going in repeatedly and farming chests, possibly even skipping all bosses depending on where the chests spawned.

If you're still missing items from a dungeon's sets, the final boss is the only one that's guaranteed to drop a curated piece, so you could potentially loot both chests, kill half a dozen or more bosses, then kill the final boss, and still get only a single new piece of gear, even if you're missing a dozen pieces from that dungeon.

Others have already explained it, but I wanted to add that the gear is ONLY curated from bosses but mobs can drop gear as well. Gear from mobs and chests are not curated. So, if you have 8 pieces and have been clearing the whole dungeon, some of those pieces may have come from the adds instead.

ok, I got it, I am not clearing the I was doing Shipwrights regret, finished it once, then went back, but did not kill the last boss, I just kept looking for chests... ok. clear the dungeon..got it
