How are premium tokens and caches of tome points calculated? Seems bugged

    Before Season Zero Launched on April 2, 2026
    Before Season Zero launched, we knew we wanted to give some “back rewards” for our ESO Plus subscribers. As described here, we awarded 1 Cache of Tome Points and 1 Premium Tome Token per month of subscribed ESO Plus with a starting point of January 2026.
    • For players who had an active multi-month ESO Plus subscription that was purchased before January 2026 and active between January 2026 and March 9, 2026, we awarded 1 Cache of Tome Points and 1 Premium Tome Token per month of subscribed ESO Plus for every month from January 2026 onwards. So, if you started a 6-month ESO Plus subscription in November 2025, for example, you would have gotten 4 Caches of Tome Points and 4 Premium Tome Tokens. These were awarded on March 30, 2026.
    • For players who purchased a new ESO Plus membership from March 9, 2026, onwards, we awarded 1 Cache of Tome Points and 1 Premium Tome Token per month subscribed at the point of purchase. In this example, if you purchased a new ESO Plus membership on March 10, 2026, you would have rewards for either 1 month, 6 months, or 12 months now, depending on which ESO Plus subscription package you chose.
    It’s also possible for someone to have done a combination of both above, if they had an active ESO Subscription in January and February, then renewed on or after March 9, 2026.

    One additional detail is that different platforms define “monthly” timing a little differently. We recognize this is a bit confusing and, unfortunately, it’s not something we control. For example, in the ESO store and account system, we define a month as exactly 30 days and our renewals happen on that cadence. We recommend checking with the platform you purchase your ESO Plus subscription on for the exact details, as this could result in some minor differences in who gets their monthly rewards when for recurring or renewed subscriptions.

    From Season Zero Launch on April 2, 2026, Onward
    From here on out, ESO Plus seasonal rewards will be granted at the point of purchase just like crowns do. For every month of ESO Plus, you will receive 1 Cache of Tome Points and 1 Premium Tome Token. We have also updated our ESO Plus page with this info. Just note the “how is a month defined” detail above, as it can and does vary a little by platform.

    In my case, it’s a bit different, because I didn’t pay for my ESO+ subscriptions (at least the most recent ones); I received them as prizes from the ESO Stream Team on Twitch. If that doesn’t count, then you’ve literally cheated the people who received their ESO+ subscriptions in this way.

    One point of clarification though - do you mean 3 caches and premium tome points, not 4, for those who had a multi-month ESO+ sub active before January 2026? I received 3, which makes sense (one each for January, Feburary, and March.)

    I think 3 is how many we were all supposed to receive with active ESO+ subs like yours and mine. One each for Jan, Feb, and March 2026. The 4th one may be for April but I'm not sure if those drop at the beginning of the month or the end of the month, or sometime in between.

    So I only got two sets while my 12 month subscription runs until the end of may...so it should have been 4?

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Thank you for explaining it clearly. This now make it clear that I am indeed missing tokens and caches.

    I hope my missing tokens and caches will be put into my account soon (I did sent screenshots of my subscription purchases in my PS account history to customer services via the ticket I made. I sent them before your reply)

Because I thought that was supposed to be one of those big selling points for ESO+? Or do I just get 12 next September, and therefore, since right now there's no other way to get premium tokens, I basically get screwed out of that supposedly one free premium tome this year? If that's really how it works, then how am I not ultimately being punished for being a loyal annual customer for years? If I renewed every month, I'd then get the tokens, correct?

    You would get tokens when you renew your sub for the number of months you pay for.

    So if in September you renew for a full year, you'll get 12 tokens. The 8 that you currently have don't go away, so you'll have a total of 20 at that point. Those can be cashed in for any tome that exists from that point on.

    Right. Leaving those 8 useless, since there's no way to get single premium tokens. There's nothing that can be done with less than 12 tokens currently.

    What could possibly be the logic of not giving the tokens BASED ON THE SUB TYPE straight out? Why the whole Jan math, except to screw over steady, long-term subbers? It's not like cancelling gets a refund on unused months. I HAVE paid for 12 months already. I wouldn't mind so much, but it's a new low of slimy to deliberately screw over the most loyal and long-term customers in the most confusing of all possible ways. It's unnecessary, there is really nothing more arbitrary that screwing someone over based ON THE DATE THEY SUBSCRIBED.

    Seriously, ZOS, for shame. Either give people their tokens or stop talking nonsense about rewarding people for their past loyalty. It's not a reward if you can't use it.

    Thank you for your response, Sachsen, although this doesn't fit with the statement that subscribers will receive all their Caches/Tokens up front. It would help if ZOS confirmed that all platforms receive the same treatment and/or if players stated which platform they play on. (I play on both servers on PS4.)

    Did you also only receive 3 of each?

    I have been paying for ESO Plus since it came out and still only received five tokens. I converted to a yearly when that was available on Xbox (don't remember when they made that available), so I have had an active membership for quite a while. ESO Plus members should get 12 premium tokens if you have a yearly subscription similar to how crowns is allocated. By the time I earn the remaining tokens this season will be over with and onto a new one. I do not see any incentive to keep a subscription if you keep dumbing it down for subscribers. Even having so many different currencies overloads and confuses some players. I also believe we should be able to carry over double the amount of tomes not 2000, unless I misread (possible).

    What do you mean. Back then it was posible to buy multiple years so i bought 6 x yearly. Not sure when they stopped it. But they probebly did because it was cheaper to buy the sub then to buy crowns

    Before this week I had never heard of anyone having a multi year sub. I've never seen a multi year sub for sale and my understanding is there's no option to extend an existing sub. I didn't realize that used to be different.
    I would guess, based on the statement about the definition of Monthly varying by platform that they calculated from billing history rather than actual subtime and didn't go back before jan2025.

    Well 12 months was always max. But you could buy it many times and that would extend it.
