I encountered today what seems to me an unintended bug, with the Nightblade swallow soul skill and the Arcanist skill tome-bearer's inspiration.

When you have the tome skill active and you use swallow soul, the heal effect from swallow soul always applies to the damage caused by the tome skill, instead of the damage caused by swallow soul, this greatly reduces the amount and effectiveness of the heal. Given that the swallow soul skill states that the heal is based on the damage done (by swallow soul), this seems to me a bug.

Third skill line is Aedric Spear, happens in PVE,PVP, and on target dummy. Sets are Oakensoul, Soulcleaver, and Deadric Trickery, no add-ons. Thank you.

Are there any updates on fixing the Subclass quest bug, where alot of us cant finish the quest? This has been a thing for a while and it seems as though it should be fixed by now.

Not only did it happen on the second character i attempted to subclass, but every subsequent character after that and now alot of us just have a permanent quest that we cant abandon stuck in our quest logs.

Any updates on that? Will it be fixed in Update 47?

EDIT: The quest is still bugged for picking skills that youve already leveled to 50, but the quest bug gets fixed if you pick a skill that isnt level 50. Seems like its an easy fix for me, but that still could be an issue for people who have the skills all at level 50.

Chiming in here to report I'm experiencing the same bug. Quest is stuck at "Subclass a skill" despite having leveled Winter's Embrace on my Templar all the way to 50.

I still have the subclassing quest bug. Because of this, I also cannot choose a second subclassing skill line, so it's not merely a bug that prevents the quest from completing in my journal. It also prevents me from accessing that aspect of gameplay - two subclassing lines and one base class line on impacted characters. For characters that do not have the bug, I can choose two subclassing lines without difficulty.

It's clear from this thread that I'm not the only one for whom the fix during the recent patch didn't work. Are there any updates on this?

I assume the subclassing quest is still bugged? The answer https://help.bethesda.net/#en/answer/70613 states this was 'resolved', but also says you haven't pushed a fix:

This issue will not prevent you from unlocking and gaining access to Subclassing on your characters. The quest will just get "stuck" and won't be able to be completed in your quest log until we push the fix.

So, I guess we are still waiting for this fix?

I just checked with one character who had the quest stuck in her questlog, and she could finish it now...

It would have been nice if they mentioned it somewhere but I also didn't see it adressed anywhere; or I just missed the post.

I cant complete this quest. I have tried everything mentioned in the many, many different websites and forum posts.
It is stuck on 'Subclass a New Skill LIne' and nothing I do progresses the quest

..nvm i figured it out. i was using a controller and the UI did not show nearly enough
i have to use akeyboard to see the ui with the steps to complete it

tldr you cant finish it with a controller on pc you need to use the keyboard to show the right ui

I used a keyboard and mouse but still can't complete the quest.
This is the 3rd char this has happened to.

Currently if you're doing the introductory Quest, one stage requires you to Subclass into a Skill Line that hasn't been Subclassed by any other character yet, otherwise the prompt will say "Equip" instead of "Subclass". If you equip the line, the Quest does not progress.

But then if you do choose a line that has the Subclass prompt in order to progress and complete the Quest, the UI continues to say you're Subclassing into that first line you chose, even after you pay the extra 1,500 to equip the Skill Line you originally wanted after.

So now the UI says my Templar is Subclassing in Green Balance when it instead has Siphoning equipped.

I've 2 characters who have the quest and are stuck on the 'equip a skill line' stage and are unable to finish the quest - a Templar and a Nightblade, they are my only level 50s. I have no mods enabled.

Is there any update on the progress of this? I now have more characters with the quest than skill lines left to subclass fresh. So something needs to happen.

I have the same bug. I've subclassed successfully on a couple other toons. It won't complete on my DK however. The NPC just keeps asking for 1500 gold and wants me to continue to subclass. I'm done with that and can't advance. PC NA using a keyboard and a mouse. I keep giving her gold, but it doesn't work. Not getting any messages that my skill line is advancing either. Can we get a fix for this please?

I just subclassed a new character and this quest is still broken. I'm stuck on "Subclass a New Skill Line" like most of my characters. How is this still broken after all this time? When will we be able to fix this? Or is this going to become one of those stupid things that lives forever? At least fix it so we can just drop the quest.

I also have characters with this issue where the quest shows I have "equipped" a skill line and now need to "subclass" a skill line to compete the quest. I noticed that some skills only show an option to "equip" while others show "subclass" when I over over the icon. If I select the subclass icon, I get an option to "cancel subclass." When I go to confirm, I get the warning in the third image. I didn't confirm, so I don't know what happens next or if it lets me complete the quest.
I don't even have an arcanist, so maybe that's why I get this option. I don't know what you do If you have already have all class skill lines mastered and are still stuck on this quest.

As additional follow-up, when I selected "subclass," it let me complete the quest without needing to equip the skill line.

Just out of curiosity, is anyone at ZoS looking into the issue with Subclassing the Nightblade Assassination Skill Line? There's a bug with the passive Master Assassin, that when the character player model is facing south cardinal point the Character Sheet shows a 3.3%/6.6% Crit Rate loss when 1 or 2 points is placed into the passive.

This is a purely visual bug with the UI that has been around since it was a pen bonus rather than crit (so long before subclassing). Since it does not affect actual combat, it is likely low on the list of things to be addressed. Would like to see it working properly one day, though.

Ever since the Season Zero update started my skill build broke. Not sure if it was intentional or not but I work through the subclasses one at a time where I only swap out the Earthen Heart skill line and put the entire subclass into my secondary skill bar.

For the past year I have had Volatile Armor(now Shatterspike Mantle) in my primary bar second slot even with the Earthen Heart skill line "removed" for the subclass. That specific skill stayed in slot 2 of my primary bar. Now with the update I noticed it was missing. I assumed it was because they updated the skill. I reverse the subclass so I can put it back but when I swap out Earthen Heart to subclass another skill line, Shatterspike Mantle disappears from my primary bar.

Is this intentional so people can't stack subclasses? I can imagine with the old method people could just leave skills in the slots while choosing a different subclass.

You used to be able to keep Volatile Armor when giving away Earthen Heart because that skill was not on that line.

Part of Update 49 was a rework of the DK class, and part of that rework involved shifting some skills around the DK lines. Shatterspike Mantle is now part of the Earthen Heart line, so when you remove that line, you lose access to the skill. You cannot keep a skill from a line you have removed.

This was intentional and was outlined in the patch notes. It is a way of redistributing power and utility across the three class lines.
