Remember when the Jubilee boxes had lots of motifs?

We also used to get stacks of 20x a crafting mat before they redesigned the coffers. Now I'm seeing a stack of 5x in a box instead.

Clearly my time is worth significantly less to ZOS than it was before for some reason if I get 75% less mats when I get them. The 1x Frost Mirriam or Bervez Juice provides an extra line item, but throwing us 1 of so common an item seems like it's just there as filler to inflate the visual impression of how much is in the box. It doesn't make up for losing out on 15x a mat.

I used to do writs on all of my characters every day of the event. Now I maybe finish them on one, and only because I'm already right there. I want to feel like I'm incentivized to do the event, but expecting me to the do the same work as in prior years for much less of a reward is not it.

Last year the motifs (and likely mats) saw a reduction. Likely because of the major glut of 2024. They also added the 5 minute cooldown on looted boxes. Though there are still plenty of motifs dropping (my bank is filling quickly).

    Needed to happen IMO.

My glorious gold box today was 3 transmute crystals, a blue summerset furnishing plan, 1 terne plating, 1 desecrated grave soil, 10 platinum ounces, and 5 dragon rheum.

I've averaged about 1 motif per character (so 1 out of 7 boxes). I think in the 3 days I've done them, and I did 2x per character on the first day, I've received 2 my crafter doesn't know.

I'm tending to get 1 motif about every 3 to 5 coffers. I recall them dropping like piñata candy the past couple of years, but strongly suspect that got toned down a bit, along with stuff like Rubyblossom Extract, Mourning Dew, Perfect Roe, and Aethierial Dust... maybe Nirncrux, too. I got a bunch of that in 2022 or 2023, but only one Fortified so far this year across a couple of hundred opened coffers. No matter... eating cake, celebrating another year of ESO, and having fun. Those are the important parts.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

Yeah, the event was completely neutered last year. The Anniversary Jubilee used to be the one thing, the one event to look forward to all year, but now it is an utter rubbish event like all the others. :(
They really should have undone the nerfs and especially the introduction of the trash purple boxes from last year.

I think too, that many players seem to forget that the 2024 Jubilee was ESO's 10th Birthday celebration. There was an extended duration, and the drops likely crazy boosted for the same reason. During that year's celebration, even veteran players were like "whoah! what the..?"

The fallout from it was legendary. The forums were lit up about it for at least 6 months over its impact. And I'm not referring to the dumpster fire that was the rng behind the style pages introduced that year.

As with most things, there’s a difference and happy medium place between too much and not enough. 2024 might have been over the top but years prior to that, for those of us playing back then, it was a pretty decent amount. Was great when it happened, often enough that it didn’t feel too rare without being too overtuned. It was a great opportunity to try to snag a couple of the newer ones you might not have yet, while leaving the newest still sourced through game activity only.

This year though, I’m doing writs on at least 11 characters a day (sometimes I do them on 2-3 more, if I want but they’re less convenient). Yesterday, at least half of those characters got NO motifs, in any boxes. And most of the motifs I’m getting, when I do get them, seem heavily weighted toward the earlier motifs (likely just do due the sheer number of motifs styles we have now, but its less exciting). My main character is missing pages from style numbers 100-current (and of those, I have 5 that I know more than half) and I’ve only gotten 4 motifs that she could learn.

Some of this lack of excitement, and the sentiment from those who sell them that like the lower drop rates, can also likely be pointed back at accountwide achievements. Prior to that, people might have been more interested in getting alts to learn more styles for those achievement points. Now, there’s less of an incentive, so once one character learns the page (most) people don’t need/want the spare so the market goes down.

Overall, this event is less exciting for me than in the past. Some of that is me, for sure (I’ve mostly moved away from ESO and don’t have nearly as much time as I used to) but I do think so of it is the over inflation of certain rewards like the furnishings, especially being bound, compared with motifs.

I’ll have to see if more than a few of my friends still play and see if we can do some motif swapping towards the end of the event. I always did enjoy that part at least!

If you try to sell during or right after the event then yeah, you're going to run into problems, as everyone else with a bunch of Motifs is ALSO trying to sell and driving the prices down. You need to wait several months AFTER the Jubilee ends to sell them, after most who wanted fast Gold have all sold theirs and the number of available Motifs have gone back down. That drives the prices back up. It's supply and demand essentially.

I'm still getting what feels like the same amount of Motifs as normal, I'm more bothered by how mats are still only in stacks of 5. And how it feels most mat drops are common things like Iron, rather than the Style Mats or things like Dragon Rheum.

Saved dailies on all chars for day 1 and did 2 rounds of em.
After seeing the drops, I'm only doing them on my main per day since day 2. They're a bit lacklusting, but I guess it's more appealing to newer players.

I think I've got one or two furnishing patterns I didn't know, and that's it, besides mats here and there.

I think ZOS could usefully "retire" some of the older golden style pages from the event coffer loot pools, and just make them available for trade bars in the Bazaar. That would have the benefit of thinning out the pool and making the newer items more likely to drop.

I noticed that my Guild's bank is chock full of Bonemold, Skaal Exlporer and Glen Moril Wyrd pages, and pretty much the only people who need those now are new players who likely don't have enough gold to afford average Guild Store asking prices.

    Regarding motif drops.

Compared to last year (2025) motif drops from boxes are down by at least 50%. Last year I received from 84 boxes (12 chars doing crafting dailies with 7 quests = 12 x 7 = 84 boxes) around 1 motif out of 7 boxes. So, 1 motif per char.

This year I have - so far - received in average 1 motfi out of 14 boxes, which means 1 motif every 2 chars.

Drops for furniture plans are - at least as far as I can tell - nearly the same as last year.

Same goes for the recipe drops. Although the amount of different recipes is still limited, which means I do get a lot of the same I already have.

Regarding the old *mimimi* of not being able to sell motifs and the market collapsing and so on...

As some already wrote here. You should never ever sell motifs during or right after the event. Unless you just want to get rid of them for a a few coins. If you want to get some gold, then you must wait at least 5-6 months before trying to sell them.

BUT!!! What you sellers, merchants, etc. should ALWAYS keep in mind is, that - as it was already stated here - with the motif styles being account-wide unlocked through the collection, only a few people will buy more than one or two motif pages of the same kind. There is no good reason for most players to buy them more often than that (one time for a crafting char and a second time for the main char, IF that char is a different one than the crafting char and IF those players are collectors or completionists).

Motifs are not only one use items, but also *one need only* items, which over time leads to a decreasing number of buyers.

In addition to that the number of players being able to afford motifs beyond a certain price threshold is limited and because of motifs being *one need only* items the number of those will decrease even faster.

Buttom line. The longer the game runs, the more players will have all motifs - which are only needed once, resulting in fewer potential buyers and therefore fewer motifs being sold for high prices and in general. In addition more players will try to sell them, because they already got them.
