Premium Tome Tokens

Are premium tome tokens only given for each month subbed to ESO Plus? Also, I have a rotating yearly but mine gave me a very small amount (4) because it renewed a while ago, but it will not renew prior to the current tome ending. I have seen other people who just renewed theirs that get 12 and can outright buy the premium + bonus version which makes no logical sense to me, as there is no way to renew or extent your sub while one is ongoing, so those with a yearly are just screwed out of being able to buy this current tome with these tokens. Is this intended, and if so... why?

If you are subbed through ESO's website, but also have your Steam account connected, you can actually resub through Steam to extend your membership. Your sub through ESO's site will be put on pause for the duration of your Steam membership. This should give you more tome points.

It is a peculiar system, seemingly designed to push us into buying with cash premium tomes without knowledge of future Tome selections in order to not miss out of rewards that will be removed from game (with no knowledge of return, if ever). If removing FOMO was an aim, then it seems they missed the mark, much as when removing daily login rewards were replaced by a daily Tomes task :P

They were awarded based on the number of full months you have an active sub as of January 1.

So if you renew in Jan-Mar, you'd get enough to get a free premium right away. Otherwise, you get the rest when you resub.

Can I get any clarification on this? Can I add 3 months of ESO to my yearly through steam so I am on an even 12? Having a yearly sub is wasted otherwise for anyone who wasn't lucky enough to have it renew right on the date needed to get 12 tomes.

I had been wondering whether tomes would be a reason to resub, but clearly not.
A premium tome costs the same as one month ESO+, the premium + bonuses the same as two months of ESO+. Just buy the tome, if that's what you want. Don't fret about the sub extension.

You could when your sub expires but I'm pretty sure ZOS does not let you top up or extend existing subs.

I have sub paid every 3 months (renewed 18 march), i didnt buy that new season pass, yet ive got 5 tome caches, my friend has sub paid every 6 months (got renewed month or so ago) didint buy season pass either, he has 7 tome caches, if one cache is for one month of sub, where the others came from that we have so uneven?

You can get 2 bonus caches from buying the premium + bonus but the Tome Tokens used to upgrade are only from the sub as far as I know.

So unless you get lucky, any sub over 3 months can ruin whether or not you get this first Tauriel tome unlocked through tome tokens.

You got jan 18-feb 18, feb 18 to mar 18, plus 3 for 3 month you got in march.
I don't know whwn a month or so ago is, but lets say feb 20, then they got jan20 to feb20 plus 6 for the 6 months they renewed for

I have ESO+ until March 2027 and haven’t received any Premium Tome Tokens. I should point out that I didn’t buy them; I won them in Twitch giveaways, but ESO+ is ESO+, and I should at least get 10 or 11 tokens for that ;/

so it counts from january? not from this month when this system has started?

Yes, because they announced in january. But only full months since then.

I am so confused! I have paid for ESOplus till 16 Aug and yet I have only received 4 premium tomes …..surely it should be 8 or at least 7. No? Looked at raising a query but there is no appropriate option.

If your amounts are incorrect Kevin from ZOS has advised that you should open a ticket with customer service. Be sure to check your email and reply to the ticket before it expires to have customer service look at your account.

Again, you can extend an ongoing sub if you are subbed through ESO's site and then purchase a sub through Steam. It will put your ESO sub that you purchased directly through Zenimax on pause while your Steam sub is active.
