How Tomes work questions (add your own)

When looking at the Tomes UI, and not going into Premium stuff. I know some of this stuff has been answered elsewhere, but the answers are scattered all over everywhere, or I haven't seen them.

1) What does "Open Cache" mean? Does that mean open things you just bought with Points?
2) If you buy things from Page 1, does that detract from the number of Points you've earned? Or is "earned" cumulative, regardless of what you do with them?
3) Can you buy things from Page 1 once you get to Page 2 (and further pages?)
4) What is Current Bonus: 10% ^ (in green text). Does this mean, every page you get through, you get a bonus to how fast you earn Points?

If you open the cache, there is a chunk of points in it. I was able to get to page 2 just from that.

    1. You get Caches of Tome Points with every full month of ESO+. A cache can be opened to apply 2000 Tome Points instantly to any Tome. Tomes will reset seasonally, so it is best to use them if you know one season you will not be able to earn many points.
    2. You have a stash of Points, so everything you buy will reduce that total like other currencies in game
    3. You can buy things in any order. The only issue is that pages need you to have earned a certain number of points (additive) throughout that tome to be eligilbe to buy those rewards.
    4. ESO+ gives a 10% bonus for all Points earned. You earn points in the Challenges screen, and the numbers shown are the base value you get. Having active ESO+ will mean you get that amount +10%.

earned amount for the purposes of unlocking pages is cumulative, if that is your question.

Yes, that's exactly what I was asking. Thanks for the better wording.

@tomofhyrule Thanks. Your answers are always clear and helpful. It's appreciated.

With enough tome points you can start getting stuff on what ever page you want i had 9 caches of points which gave me 18k and unlocked 10 pages

Just as an FYI to anyone who has Caches: those give 2k Points for that Tome. Each season resets the Points to 2k maximum, so if you cash in all of your Caches now, you will not have them for future Seasons in case you can’t play consistently then.

if you get 12 token is it enough to just get all the items/pages unlocked? and the daily/weekly rewards is for those that dont want to pay and don't care for the premium items?

Does each Tome have their own special currency that you can only use on that tome? Or if you get a bunch can you use it on future tomes?

I'm assuming the former...but would this mean they will add another currency every season?

What if you don't buy the permanent tome? Does the currency vanish each season and stay if you have bought it?

    From what I understand:
Tome Points are the only currency, but it is reset every Season. You can only carry over a max of 2k points from one to the next.

Any purchased Tomes will still be accessible after the Season ends, and you can use the Points you collect in a season to buy from any active Tomes. As such, it seems that buying things to end a season with 2000 Points is the smart way to go.

You can use the Caches to get 2k free points on any Season, but that does only last the Season so it is not a good idea to dump them all on a single Season unless you won’t be playing much then.

The Challenges give you Points for that specific Season. If you just want the free track stuff, then just treat the Challenges like Endeavors and just claim the rewards you want and don’t bother buying the Tome.

    Thanks Tom for the insight.

If the old tomes are staying, I wonder if at some point they will ever let people buy tomes they skipped even after the season ends, since the tome will be staying anyway.

I think the tomes only stay for those who bought the premium tier. They go away at the end of the season for those who didn't.

Thanks I read that wrong. I thought they stayed for everyone to use up currency you earned. Good to know to make sure to spend it all in advance if you are on the Free pass.

If you average around 2000 tome points per week (the number of points vary based on which challenges you roll, lowest ive seen are 300, highest 600) you can average around 30k points in a season, 99 days is 14 weeks, 14x2000 plus the seasonal challenge points. Plus 10% for ESO+ on top of that.

So you can earn 30k+ in a season through challenges.
20k is required to progress through the tiers. Unlocking the rewards for purchase.

15990 points are required to purchase ALL free Tome rewards
32k ish are required to purchase ALL free AND Premium Tome rewards.

Using Cache of Tome Points is not required, but could help get what you want faster/if you miss some weeks. This is why I recommend saving the caches as these should carry over across seasons.

Tome Points work a lot like Alliance Points.

Earning AP raises your Alliance Level. Earning Tome Points unlocks Tome Pages.

You can then spend your AP on merch from AP vendors. You can then spend your Tome Points on items in the unlocked pages of the Tome.

It is not, it just adds to the points received when you claim the reward from a completed challenge.
