Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – April 8, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)
We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.

I don't think the overworld difficulty will work.

Giving a slider to keep people in the same open world is pretty ironic.

Players who want a challenge now have to actively avoid others players to not have their challenge ruined, so the whole argument of "not separating players" doesn't really work. Not sperated, but have to avoid them anyways. It ruins the argument of keeping people together.

It should have been separate instances. To give players a "step up" where they can go to get a real challenge with unique titles and rewards. Theres lots of end game content potential if the entire overworld could be treated like end game content.

In this vet instance, they could tweak individual delves or any other event in the game to be a super dangerous area or whatever. Giving us a possible of hundreds of new dungeons in theory.

No offense, but it sounds like you're relatively new to MMORPGs. This has been a thing since GW2, but before that, low level mobs and high level mobs were in different locations in basically every MMO, so low level players would be relegated to the low level mob locations and high level players wouldn't bother with those low level locations because they wouldn't get anything for killing mobs there. Level scaling and all that is a relatively new phenomenon. Not even ESO did this initially.

No offense taken but that assumption is not correct. I've been playing MMOs since Ultima Online and have also played Asheron's Call, WoW, Rift, Guild Wars 2, and Lord of the Rings Online, before they introduced difficulty settings, and of course Elder Scrolls Online. Some of the earlier ones were not quest based but still had players of all levels and skills in the same world.

Look, I'm not gonna have a rehash of whatever went on in that thread. It's not a feature I really care about, outside of specific quest bosses. But to be completely honest, I've seen harder overland requested outside the forums, for years. Regardless, it's here. It's coming. I would've rather had dungeons, but I'm not gonna take a crap on a feature that will make lots of people happy. And to be fair, many people view it like you view a zone. I have learned, to my surprise, since January that lots of people hate new zones. They think we have too many and we're celebrating not getting one. So you gotta try to remember that not everyone plays like you or likes what you like. Open your mind a little.

My mind is open. I realize that some players want difficulty while playing overland, although I will never understand how that would be fun. But my point is that if it takes longer to do everything in overland it will soon become tedious and I suspect the feature will be used less.

"I realize that some players want to kill everything with 3 light attacks while playing overland, although I will never understand how that would be fun".

Maybe, just maybe, some people like having something be a challenge? Maybe some people want to have their hard work min maxing a build actually matter outside of veteran dungeons or high level PvP?

I enjoy soloing world bosses that are challenging to me, or soloing group dungeons which are challenging (but not impossible to solo due to contrived mechanics which require two or more players). And I know how disappointed and disgusted I can get if I'm in the early stages of soloing a world boss that's challenging to me but suddenly some incredibly OP player comes along and literally just melts down the boss in mere seconds. I really don't understand why they think it's fun to play that way, but it's their choice to do so if that's what they want to do.

I don't mean to sound unsympathetic, but now the shoe gets to be on the other foot if an OP player is soloing a world boss in "super challenging mode" but someone else comes along and melts through it, ruining their attempt to enjoy a fun challenge. Welcome to my world; sit down and pour a drink while I grab some cookies for us to munch on while we commiserate.

But I also find it nice to help out players who can't solo a given world boss, or to be soloing a difficult world boss and have one or more reasonably-powered players come along and start fighting alongside me.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

With the proposed overland difficulty all a Vestige needs to do is tag along with other players that are on Adventure difficulty or just do bosses during events. So, no need to pay big money, no dedicated team.

Worse; even if the player doesn't want to group up with Adventure difficulty players, they might still have those players interfere with their experience, because everyone just happened to arrive at the same point of interest around the same time. Look at dolmens and world bosses, for instance.

Though it was already pointed out in the thread that, to some extent, this already happens in the game, specially since they removed leveled zones and enemies. I honestly can't get excited about overland difficulty if it's just gonna be another layer of this problem.

That is fine if that is what they like, but I personally can't comprehend having a fun time playing that way.
