The Jester festival... sucks.

I know it's just a small event, but having three NPCs and one sign that give daily quests, 3 of those quests being identical every day and 1 varying between two options, is tedious rather than fun. And not much would have to change to improve it, really. For instance, for the quest where you capture daedra to play music, why not allow us to go to any delves in the game to find them instead of the same 3 each time? You could then make the daedra that are trapped different relative to the delve you get them from, and the different daedra could each have their own music that they play. The quest would just replay each day, but each day you could try different combinations of daedra to see what they end up sounding like together. Instead, we're stuck with doing the quest once and then having to do a chore every other day because it's exactly the same as the first time.

But… there are different Daedra in that quest, and they change based on which of the three you get.

The two delves have two summoning circles each, so you can get either a Harvester or Ogrim from Auridon and either a Scamp or Twilight from Stonefalls. That means there are four different combinations of the Daedra you can get, and they have different animations as well depending on which combo you get (i.e. the Twilight will either play pipes or dance depending on who the other Daedra is)

There’s also the two Boar quests you’re not mentioning.

Jester’s is always a quick event since it goes right into the Anniversary. The purple boxes are also not really rewarding, so it does incentivize doing one of the quests and then finishing, meaning that you could do a different quest each day and be fine.

A lot of players don’t equate “longer and more involved” with “more fun,” particularly for event quests. For players who do want that, there will be a Rumors system coming up this year that will be more involved.

As someone who has been here for ages - personally I enjoy the festival. Sure, they could add some new quest lines in or "things" to spice it up a bit but... for what it is... can't you just enjoy it.

We don't have to always find something to complain about. Laugh a little bit... it's good for the soul.

I don't think it 'sucks', while it's not my favorite event I like the simplicity and there's enough easy dailies to get a stack of boxes in like half an hour even if you don't rush it. It's just a bit of goofery and you get your trade bars and some other stuff. Granted the loot doesn't do much for me in this event but in that case I can just choose to only do one quick daily for the trade bars. They could update it with some new quests like they did for New Life but all in all I don't have a problem with these easy and predictable events.

Welp, maybe it's not enough then, because this isn't something I noticed at all. Really, I was thinking more on allowing us to go to any delve to finish the quest as being the bigger thing. Either way, the quests become tedious after the first day you do them, IMO.

You may be feeling a bit of event fatigue as well, since a lot of events have similar daily repeatable tasks for tickets.

I saw we are heading into the Anniversary and right after that Zenithar. Always seems to have some or another event going on.

After Heart's Day, which felt fresh since it was new, I decided to take a break so I'm ready for Anniversary. I'm fine resting and just not getting tickets...err, bars, and then feeling refreshed when I do play.

Zenithar is late June, two months after Jubilee. May-June is traditionally always the longest gap between events. This year we do have Night Market in that gap, though.

I personally like that there is repeating quests, because I dislike the jesters festival overall. So I'm just there to get my bars and get out.
It'd probably be nicer for everyone if they had more in depth quests for those that want them, and then a simple repeating quest provider for those that don't.

I don't think allowing us to go into any delve in the game for that quest would be feasible, as it would entail updating every single delve in the game to add the coding required to let us capture a Daedra there.

Honestly I'd prefer a new, meaningful questline each event where we just get all the bars at least, and then they can keep throwing the random chests on bosses and stuff for other minor rewards.

If they are trying to move away from daily login requirements with rewards, it similarly would be nice not to have to do a daily repeatable that I've seen 10 times already every event too.

It's one of the reasons I prefer XIV's approach to events. You can usually get everything in a few hours and then resume your normal play.

This event is short enough that players who've experienced it many times before and have already collected all or most of the rewards from previous years can do a single quest each day for their daily golden event coffer and trade bars. And there are enough quests that said players could do a different quest just about every day to keep things fresh. For instance,

    - Day 1: Jester Queen Ayrenn's quest
    - Day 2: Jester King Jorunn's quest
    - Day 3: Jester King Emeric's quest
    - Day 4: King Boar quest
    - Day 5: Prank quest
    - Day 6: Musical band quest

The King Boar quest is actually 2 quests in one, although one of them is optional. I haven't tried it, but I suspect that we might be able to complete the optional quest by itself by accepting both, but instead of trying to kill King Boar just collect Mudcrab Apples and then leave. It might be a little tricky to avoid taking any damage long enough to be able to interact with the exit, but I don't think it would be impossible. So I think we might be able to accept and complete the primary quest by itself on one day, then accept both quests but complete just the optional quest (and drop the primary one) on another day in order to have a bit of variety.

The prank quest has a few different potential targets, so it could be done on multiple days without repeating the same exact quest each time.

And as already noted, the musical band quest has 4 possible outcomes as far as the types of Daedra and what instruments or roles they play in the band, so we could do the quest on 4 different days and get a different combination on each day.

So for such a short event, it's actually possible to have a different experience on each day of the event if we want. But players who haven't collected all of the rewards from previous years can still grind a certain number of purple coffers each day if they feel the need to-- 6 on one character, and 7 on each additional character.

I do agree that the quests in these holiday events can get "a little too familiar" after we've done them umpteen bajillion times, but there's really no need to do that if we've already got all of the older rewards. And some players do enjoy completing one or more of the same old quests each day, just because that quest in particular tickles their fancy for whatever reason-- it's the quickest to do, it involves the most fighting, it makes them laugh, etc. Also, I'd hate to see the old quests get removed due to veteran players feeling bored by them, thereby depriving new players the chance to ever experience those "classic" quests.

The event is more about the xp bonus IMO, I have just been doing 3 quests that are quicker. It isn't a bad quest, but it would be better if the boxes dropped from different sources.

So the OP wants special coding added to every deadra in all the delves in the game that have daedra, so that they can react in a special way toward characters on the quest vs a completely separate response to characters simply clearing the delve.

all for one specific week during the year.

    how tough could that be?

It has probably my favorite event quest in the game, the one where you cheer up the "grumps" across Auridon.

It's one I enjoy, as others have put if you're not feeling it one year you can just do a quick daily and get it done, if you want a different quest every day that's also doable. What I have stopped doing with all events is farming the purple boxes, ZoS broke me with the anniversary event last year when the drop rates were so low, and I missed the stuff I wanted despite it taking up all my gaming time.

If you just want to get the reward quickly I think Soars-in-Laughter's prank quests are the best option. Talk to her, pick up a kit, go to the target, place the kit, wait, go back to collect your reward. It only takes a minute or two and the specifics are different each time so there is some variety.

Or stealing the pig, if you want to avoid loading screens.

The daedra quest is the worst IMO, it's the most time consuming but largely identical each time and the payoff is a few seconds of music with no reaction from anyone, which is a let down after how much Sanguine hyped it up. (But then the Hearts Day quest was the same, ZOS don't seem to know what to do with him except making him a less impactful Sheogorath, but at least they don't keep telling us we like that.)

I like that the Jesters Festival has its own quests, my least favourite festivals are the ones that just stick a random box of junk on a standard daily quest, but after several years of the same ones it is going to get repetitive.

I used to really enjoy the jesters festival but something that was once fun has turned into a needless and cruel grind for myself and several others for sovereign sow fragments. The fragments have a really really low drop rate and the only way to earn them is by completing jester quests and opening boxes. I’ve probably done about 400-500 jester boxes in the last 3 years and only have 3 out of the 7 required fragments. It’s so frustrating that I cannot just buy the remaining fragments with event tickets/ gold bars or buy them from the guild trader. It’s a non combat pet that’s several years old. It’s time for zenimax to help us out and make it more accessible
