So we're for sure going to Skyrim, and I in the speculation is Winterhold. For fun let's assume that is the case, what are some things you're looking forward to seeing in that zone, or some things you'd like to have in the zone?

I know we'd all like to see a rebuilt Winterhold, but I'd also like to maybe visit Saarthal, maybe see a faction that can be tied to the Saarthal scholar motifs. I'd also like to see the mage prison "The Chill" either as a location you can visit or as a public dungeon.

If possible I'd also very much love it if we could get a small "inn room" in the dormitory of the college. I don't need the archmage's quarters or a house in Winterhold, I really want a room in the college proper.

The main question for me, for now, is how big the map will even be. They called it what? There was a special term they used for the zone? In any way, it made me wonder if the map size will even be comparable to the old zones we got in chapters at all.

An excursion zone maybe? I'm sharing this concern, it doesn't sound like they want to do a traditional zone at all, or maybe just can't? Experimental content is cool and all but why don't we leave some stuff the way we're used to huh?

As far as speculation, Like most, I'm thinking winterhold. I'm gonna be basic with it. I hope it has a main story, many side quests, public dungeons, some world bosses. It doesn't have to stick to a formula, but that formula worked for 12 years and made Zos 2 billion dollars.

Winterhold always makes me want an ES spinoff game like Hogwart's Legacy where you live in a school and learn different schools of magic, just without the open world part.

If I got something like that and then could release my character into ESO's open world that would be rad.

I also want to be an Illusionist and Enchanter, as that is my favorite type of character....but alas. Still, releasing a new staff with the school would be great.

Meh, as much as I love Skyrim, Winterhold never really was something fascinating to me. Probably because I prefer non-mage builds, so the College is a big whatever in my mind. I still think the rest of All Of Tamriel should be filled in, but I’m not gonna go nuts about Winterhold specifically when there are so many other places we haven’t seen.

I am a bit disappointed though that they’re using Winterhold as their special zone, when there is another cold and icy zone that would work much better for a vet-level frontier zone: Solstheim.
At this point in history, there is literally nothing on Solstheim outside of Skaal Village (Thirsk doesn’t even exist for another few hundred years). I really don’t want them to shoehorn in a story there; I’d much rather see that used as like a vet-level all-of-the-mobs-can-kill-you kind of zone with only a set of dailies (the trials of Aevar Stone-Singer) and no story and small instances so it really feels like a brutal wilderness full of threatening beasts and challenging delves.

I always feel winterhold would be best suited as a separate dlc that focuses solely on winterthold, the city, the academy...and maybe introduces a new magic related skill line, alteration, 1h+spell etc.

I would love if they added whiterun, the city, the area as an adventure zone with stronger enemies like mammoths and giants etc...

But im happy about anything Skyrim

what are some things you're looking forward to seeing in that zone, or some things you'd like to have in the zone?

I'm excited to see Pre-collapse Winterhold city. They really do a very good job with the cities, post base-game. They're all stunning, honestly. An interesting question is: what style of architecture would they use? Something like Solitude? 1st-era Windhelm style? Maybe something derived from the College's style, itself? Something completely new?

Revisiting the College is a big one, of course.

Scope-wise, its hard to know what to expect- no one seems to really have any idea what "Expeditions" mean. I see a lot of people hoping for a final "connection of the zones" so they can circumnavigate Tamriel, and I'm here for it. But that would have to be a pretty big zone.

Then there's the world map- I guess they'll have to adjust it now? I hope so.

Did they mention updating Eastmarch earlier this year, or am I halucinating? I think they'd have to do some pretty major work to Eastmarch for the transition between the zones not to feel quite jarring.
a small "inn room" in the dormitory of the college. I don't need the archmage's quarters or a house in Winterhold, I really want a room in the college proper.

    Awesome idea. I'd love this.
I'd also be OK with the Archmage's quarters ngl though I'd get it if they didn't want to go there lol.

I'd had an idea to fill in some of the smaller areas like the gap in Elsweyr and in the Dragontail Mountains with "expedition zones" that have a base camp but the rest is sort of IA-style randomly selected spaces with various combat or puzzle challengees. The goal is more in exploring an uncharted and hazardous area rather than a typical zone with quests and delves.
I'm sort of hoping this new zone will be somewhat similar, with these "storms" needing to be navigated sort of blind with Winterhold being the base.

I hope we get Winterhold, and I hope it somehow ties into Scribing finally adding class scribing skills.

I'm optimistic about the area. But it is empty. There isn't much going on between Dawnstar and Winterhold but I love exploring in the game, not running into a quest or town every minute. If they take the pre-collapse and expand the landmass up north a bit and use the mountainous area in between and just make it a wasteland full of ruins and stuff to explore that would be cool. More about finding quests or going on excursions for the College of Winterhold to explore certain areas.

Have Dawnstar as a second small settlement like Morthal is to Solitude in Western Skyrim.

Excursions could mean a way to not give us all quests at once in an area. We get some to start out with and then they add more as the season goes.

We do not know how much collapsed really, if I remember right that is. But even then it could be frozen over ocean that we can walk on between islands.

I just really want Winterhold and the college as a place to roleplay and the last year has had me like
    n6vln44lrtdz.gif

They could also use Dawnstar later for Dark Brotherhood content and explore the sanctuary we know is there.
Or use the college's inclusion as an excuse to add more scribing features or a new magicka weapon.
