The ground was covered with NPC bodies from wayshrine to merchant area. How is it even possible for a player(s) to do this.

High Sneak character and using specific gear such as:
    3 items of Night terror
5 items of Vesture of Darloc Brae
    Use Blade of Woe

I Have done this type of spree solo with my Khajiit Nightblade its fun.

Cp passive puts you invis after woe. When I saw ppl mass murdering they weren't being sneaky about it. They just aoe everything down then ran for more.

So long as they can evade the guards and avoid the one shot kill they eventually start using after chasing you long enough, they can keep going till they get bored of waiting for the NPC's to respawn.

ZOS could counter it to some extent by making it so that if you have X amount of bounty, say for example a 100K bounty, you become easier to detect by 1 meter at a time, every 10K over the 100K you lose another meter until you stealth sets and CP bonuses are eventually cancelled out and your exposed to the guards out in the open as one of the worlds most wanted.

Of course players can still avoid some of the penalties by just banking all there gold when they die, they will still lose their stolen goods, but it adds incentive to use those pardon scrolls and pay down your bounty.

I saw that today while doing a couple Jester's fest quests. It was totally unexpected and made my daily grind much less boring.

Optimise all the fun out of stealth and you can basically stand on top of an NPC's head and pickpocket them and then Blade of Woe them. You need a couple of sets, some speed boost, a mythic, few passives and CPs, preferably a vampire, and the cloak from NB Shadow skill line. You never need to do any combat.

Pretty much moving in sneak faster than many sprint, no NPC can see you, and even if you get caught you can just jog away and enable the cloak. A guard might throw a flare at you, but if you invest in speed, you don't need to care about the flare because you will be out of the aoe before it lands.

Skywatch has a lot of NPCs you can rob. After pickpocket it takes some time before you pickpocket them again, and with less probability of success. Up to 3 times, so the optimal way is to pickpocket -> pickpocket -> blade of woe -> loot the body. If you pickpocket the third item you would have to wait after the second pickpocket and then have very low probability. So after the second pickpocket, just kill the NPC so you don't have to wait and have 100% chance... since the NPC is dead. And soon you have an inventory full of stolen goods you can sell and advance your various thieving achievements. But that leaves behind a lot of dead bodies.

I dont know if I've ever taken it that far with the guards. But im definitely going to now😂 I maxed most of my thief stuff mostly due to the fact so much time has passed rather than a concerted effort. I was able to acquire 1 piece of Shivering Cheese over the years, but perhaps the new thieves guild will give us a chance to actually renew our interest in thieving.

Just out of curiosity, which guards would you guys say were more comical, Oblivion or Eso?

We do murder farm guild events. Could be something like that. Pick an area and just go nuts killing every npc possible in a town.

I just wish ZOS would adjust the timers so that dead body collection took place either just before or just as the dead NPC re-spawned. Because THIS is just creepy:

I made a very good friend three years ago at a Skywatch spree during Jester's. It was very amusing to watch the mayhem. Some players are seeking very high bounties in their millions and they accomplish that with these sprees that give us bystanders something nice to watch. Everybody wins. Well, everybody except the murder victims.
