Expiration for tome points and tome point caches?

I think I read in a post in one of the threads that only 2000 tome points can be carried over to the next season. So, if you have more, the rest will be lost when a season ends. True of False?
What about tome point caches? Do they have an expiration date or, once received, can be opened on "as needed" basis?

✭✭✭✭✭From what I understand:- Tome Points are specific to the tome in question and reset each season, save for the ability to carry over 2000 unspent points from the previous tome
- Tome points are earned from weekly tasks like endeavors were and can be spent to purchase the various items from the tomes (cosmetics, currency like Gold or Seals or Trade Bars, or consumables like we had in the daily rewards)
- ESO+ gives one Cache per full month subscribed as of January 1. These caches can be spent to instantly get 2000 points in a specific tome without doing tasks. They accrue until they are used.
- ESO+ also gives one Token per full month subscribed as of January. 12 tokens can be spent to upgrade any one Tome to the Premium version
- Premium (paid) Tomes will still be available after the season ends, and you can still use Tome points to buy things from them. The free Tomes will leave at the end of the season and unpurchased goods will be lost.

Tamriel Tome: Expires when the season ends. Purchase a Premium tier to keep it permanently.
Tome Points: Up to 2,000 carry forward. Anything above that is lost at season end.
Tome Point Caches: Never expire. You can hold them unopened across multiple seasons.
Premium Tome Tokens: Do not expire, but can only be redeemed on a Tome that is currently active.
Challenges: Removed when the season ends.

Carry that forward four or five years and a player could potentially have 16 or 20 Tomes hanging around around with unpurchased rewards. One would think that at some point the Premium Tomes would age out or there would be some mechanism to manually remove it after they've purchased the stuff they wanted.I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.2 -

✭✭I don't particularly like this system as I don't always like what's on offer, and if there is only one item I like in the premium tome, then it would be silly to purchase it just for one item. This sounds like an extremely restrictive system. I was fine with the crown store and the endeavor seals, and I'm a little worried we now have this new ultra FOMO system with expiring points. I hope they continue to add appealing items to the crown store.7 -

The XP scroll will more likely be one of those "if there's nothing else interesting to spend points on" kinds of thing. I can get almost four hours of 100% XP from one Perfect Roe (provisioning passives apply) and 120 Tome points for one-fourth of the effect isn't knocking my socks off.
To be clear, I'm not griping about what's in the Tome. There is some stuff in there that I fully intend to spend Tome Points on, just not all of it. I expect that at least those 5-7 items will remain unpurchased indefinitely. Does the Tome of Dawn and Dusk continue to clutter my UI indefinitely (because permanent) or will I get the option to remove it after I've bought everything that I want to buy from it? It's nagging at the back of my head in the same way that those "can't be abandoned" quests in the journal do.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.3 -

Yeah, ditto on that. I reviewed the original article and the PTS Patch notes for the most recent cycle and don't see anything about losing Tome Points at the end of a season. I'm currently revisiting the 2026 reveal stream on YouTube, but it's about 45 minutes without any timestamps (-cough-cough-) and that's the only place I can think of where that tidbit might have been mentioned.I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.0 -

AlwaysDancing✭✭✭✭Is this the first time that the game has taken away currency that the player earned? I can't remember this happening in the past, but I am getting kind of old so my memory is untrustworthy.
I have always played this game with a goal of increasing my numbers. Gold, achievement points, writ vouchers, AP, sticker book completion, trial scores, etc.
This is a very concerning practice if ZoS is now going to take stuff away from us.

It's a pretty standard battle pass thing if not a Zos thing. They want you to grind for the currency every time. To fear missing out on stuff in the next pass, so you engage with the gameplay loop. Bring able to grind out currency and save it doesn't line up with that. Fallout 76 is just now or soon having used currency turned into a different currency already used in game called bullion. This would kind of be like trade bars. It took 8 years. So 2000 to carry over is cool I guess. It's better than zero.1 -

✭✭✭✭Soooooo...they reduce FOMO by making all future content free and introducing the Bazaar, they introduce Trade Bars that get rid of how limiting and restrictive Tickets were...but then make it so Tome Points expire save 2k every new Season.
