Two things I want most for Sorcerer 'Rework'

When you go over Sorcerer stuff please consider:

1. Please remove the transparency effect to Hurricane, I've never liked never being able to see my character ever again in combat. It'd also be nice if Hurricane was actually like a Hurricane with water+lightning effects too, but more than anything I've always wanted to remove the transparency effect. I don't wanna play a ghost.

2. Sorcerer in this game just lacks any actual nuke spells that go "I'm a powerful mage" to anyone. As a Dragon's Dogma enthusiast it's very underwelming. We have a small crystal we hurl at something and it breaks and that's pretty much it for high damage nukes.

Boundless Storm and its morphs literally have the user manifesting themselves as avatars composed purely of electricity/air, idk how you remove the transparency effects from it without also needing to change the flavor text.

Fully agree on the transparency issue.
I really hope Hurricane and Surge stay in the same skill line, I won't forgive them if they swap something there just for the sake of swapping.

Maybe glowy eyes? I find the Storm animation and the crackling lightning to be plenty actually.

I disagree, maybe make a free skill style for it that removes the effect

The transparency also makes it hard to see mechanics, like first boss in SCP’s icy aura denoting you’re being chased by an AoE and LoM’s blue glow denoting you have the curse. I am really excited to see new hurricane, the rocks floating around on one of the morphs always bothered me with how 2D they are. Seeing how beautiful igneous shield is now has me thinking we’ll get some nice 3D wind effects!

I feel this. As a Sorc main I don’t particularly use Lightning Form / Hurricane, but, before you ask for this from a purely visual standpoint, in PvP, the transparency adds to the benefit of the skill by making the player harder to track and therefore harder to hit.

Paired with the mobility buff this is a descently passive way to try and avoid damage.

I’m not necessarily against this as a change but at the same time I also don’t want to see us asking for a change that results in our class having even less competitive skills.

I agren 100%, Sorcs have nothing that’s competitive for a high burst spammable. Our skill lines are full of redundant utility skills which see us having to borrow heavily from world skill lines to really deal any damage besides the ol heavy attack.

The other thing Sorcs need BADLY are skill animations that are MUCH faster. Whether it’s PvE or PvP Sorcs just aren’t competitive. Skills like Streak take way too long to wind up the animation, leaving us far too vulnerable to skills and attacks that execute super quickly. Other skills like Mages Wrath were one of the few ways Sorcs had to actually earn a kill. But since that was needlessly nerfed now it’s just near useless. With Subclassing every other execute is now available and they perform far better. In PvE enemies often die before the animation can even carry out seeing us charged resource for the cast but no damage done. In PvP the animation takes so long that anyone can just dodge, even after the animation has already begun and evade the damage all together.

Our skills are aged, redundant, slow, and clumsy in contrast to what other classes being to the table. Sorc needs more than a refresh, we need an overhaul if we’re not only going to be able to compete with these new refreshed classes but also subclassed builds.

Lastly, and this too is for the Devs, when you do the Sorc refresh, PLEASE, don’t make the same mistake you made with DK. At least make some or portions of the new Sorc skills ONLY available to non-subclassed builds (ie pure Sorc only). The idea is to empower the Sorc class with this refresh, not everyone and especially not subclassed builds even more. That’s what happened with DKs Flame Lash, it’s been cherry picked and abused to spam without any sort of consequence or skill. We’re not looking for the new Sorc skills to be used against us.

If we’re going to have skills that can proc more powerful conversions or benefits then they need to stay within the Sorc class.

Mag stacking lost its viability as Ward got gutted into oblivion again. The upcoming class masterys are doa for the most part with the current class kit. Lacking a self aimed burst heal is really not helping either .....Vibrant Shroud is dogwater .

Sorc's design is like two opposing souls fighting. In Chinese, we'd call it "left-brain versus right-brain fight"

Surge encourages Sorc to increase damage and Critical Chance to trigger healing, but many of Sorc's abilities have cast times or delays, such as Curse, Shattering Spines, and Crystal. Furthermore, until u47, Sorc's class abilities lacked Major Prophecy and Major Savagery, compared to Nightblades' Assassination passive, which has three abilities that increase the player's Critical Chance (Master Assassin, Pressure Points, and Hemorrhage).

Lightning Form and Streak attempt to make Sorc a highly mobile class, but because many Sorc abilities have cast times, and movement speed is reduced during cast times, this negates the supposed high mobility. Not to mention, other classes now have better sources of speed buffs, such as Bird of Prey and Concealed Weapon.

Expert Mage encourages players to equip more Sorc skills, but due to the lack of many Sorc buffs and its relative weakness compared to other skills of the same type, players often forgo equipping Sorc skills in favor of other class skills or even general skills. The only potential effective use of Expert Mage is through pet gameplay, as pets require at least six skill slots (two pets require four slots: Daedric Prey and Storm Atronach).

Energized encourages players to use Physical and Shock Damage, but in reality, over one-third of Sorc skills are neither Physical nor Shock, and all Dark Magie skills and Curse are not Physical or Shock damage. Therefore, it's difficult for Sorc to focus solely on enhancing a single elemental damage.

Amplitude and Twilight Tormentor attempt to make Sorc deal more damage to enemies with higher health, reducing their health enough for an execution, but the Warlock's execution skill is the worst of all classes, with a high skill delay and damage that doesn't scale with the target's health like other classes. In PvE, players are even reluctant to use the Twilight Tormentor because the extra damage it deals is extremely low, and using the skill can even result in a DPS loss.

Such contradictions permeate Sorc, making it a collection of contradictions with no unified design direction. Hopefully, with this year's Sorc update, the developers will re-examine Sorc and unify its design direction; otherwise, we may witness the demise of Sorc.
