I was wondering why nobody was around the usual locations. Then I saw the big crowds at the jester's festival quest locations. If you think the game died because daily logins are gone, you unfortunately fell victim to confirmation bias.
Me personally, I started playing the game more, because when I logged in I would do the things I actually want to do instead of trying to complete an endeavor that I don't even feel like doing.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

Well it's been a month. I used to login every day, get the reward, do the three endeavors, the IC daily and that chest in Southern Elsweyr. I'd see like minded players farming skeletons or atronachs, even duel a random stranger. I didn't really even care about the rewards, I just collected them. A simple little low effort task to gnome around the game. They're all gone now. WIllowgrove is quiet, the group event in Sanguine's Demense isn't wiped, I'm not using poisons or visiting houses. I still log in every day, just with less to do and less reason to stay. Maybe some people really felt overwhelming anxiety over missing a handful of Dreugh Wax or enough seals to buy a non-combat pet I don't know. The old system wasn't broken, and I hope whatever replaces it restores the lost sense of purpose.

    Cheers

Since everyone has a different set of weekly Tome challenges (and they can be rerolled) we'll still see people doing these little tasks... just spread out over the week, and spread out doing different tasks from one another. Basically you won't find a bunch of people doing the same little tasks each day as if it's an event.

Us all having different challenges will be great. God forbid in fallout 76 they ask you to find 15 soaps. Or burnt books. Or toilet paper. The reroll is a good 76 thing they borrowed though. Love that.

To the op. You will soon have your fill of little daily tasks that you can log on and do and get seals or bars or weird costumes or whatever. While it's weird to me people actually logged in for that stuff, not everyone plays the same as me. But I'm sure you'll love tomes.

Maybe the game is not for you if you have to be bribed to login everyday, I mean I don't miss getting trash poisons or food I have to delete every day.

    So much this!

There's so many better reasons to log in than just to collect trash to maybe get a pretty pair of earrings later in the month.

I agree it was bad planning ending them so long before the start of tomes, but it's just a month. It's not like the sky is falling just because we have a little bit of a gap for a while.

I've been playing playing for 8 months or so on PC, actively working on completing zone quests and haven't even started on the base zones yet. There's plenty to do. Even on my PS account where I complete zones as soon as they release I never log on and think there's nothing to do. I even managed to log in before daily rewards were even a thing.

You seem to be late to the party. If you're behind on that info, I hate to think what a surprise you're gonna get on Thursday!

Basically the long and short of it is this: People felt like they were forced to log in daily just for endeavors and daily log in rewards. Zos has gotten rid of those things. Likely not because people didn't like it, but because they need things to roll into the rewards for the new battle pass coming Thursday. It has the added benefit of making people happy.

Now with your battle pass points you'll be able to purchase seals of endeavor as well as the things you used to get in daily rewards. Pots, food, poisons, and the like. So noore vendor trash, only things you want. That's a good upside. If you liked doing daily tasks, you'll be into the battle pass gameplay loop. It'll have weekly tasks. The downside being you'll have to choose what you spend your points on, seals of endeavor? Trade bars? New costumes? Though I'm sure there will be enough currency to get many things. I think Zos should have daily talks on top of weekly ones but we don't know pricing or how generous the final version of tomes will be.

So, good and bad. That's what ya missed.

It was never a bribe, just a reason. Same reason I take a stroll through the neighborhood. It's weird to me that instead of it being a reward for logging in, so many saw it as a punishment for not logging in. But you're right I guess I'll just quit playing completely. Good advice, thanks Aetherial!

You just proved me right, it's the reason you login. Then gas lighting at the end tops it off lol.

Thank you! I hadn't logged in since october until yesterday. i moved and had many cats tnr'd and adopted out and the loss of my dearest cat of 10 years with me who was probably 16+ slowly faded away from cancer... He's the first to go i have another i suspect is headed that way as well... 7 years with me also likely 16+. So much separation and grief and loss. This past winter was tough on me and the kitties. Still a lot of good was accomplished also.

The game is highly addictive. People feel pressured by it.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Losing a member of the family is never easy. Though welcome back. I would recommend you peruse the website for articles that have been released since you've been gone. We're going through huge changes and the biggest one starts this week. Though some of them are fun. Many new mounts at stables for gold, off the top of my head.

I kinda have the opposite. When dailies were a thing I often would log off sooner because it often felt like chores and some days it didn't feel like the dailies respected my time. I've been enjoying doing what I want to everyday and feeling more free to reconnect with things I love without feeling as stressed about deadlines.

It feels like I have more time for fashion, exploring overland, housing, etc again and doing that more in game has made me way happier than the rewards of the old system. I also feel the new system is going to be better longterm and while they probably should have had less a gap between the two systems, I think it will be worth the wait.

i never felt like the dailies before were that time consuming, i feel like doing the daily writs is far more of a chore than the endeavor tasks were

daily logins: i had an addon that auto claimed the daily login so i never even looked at that most of the time

endeavor tasks: usually on avg took me 15 min to clear 3 daily tasks, and sometimes even the weekly task on monday

i do agree that the new system will absolutely be better long term, because the old tickets system for events was terrible
Some of the daily endeavor tasks was so annoying, especially killing rare creatures.
And the you can only hold 12 tickets was annoying .
Now I fear the new trade bars might become a second seals of endeavors, you want to keep holding them as it might come up something expensive and very cool.

the tickets being capped was absolutely annoying

for the trade bars its going to depend on how many bars we get vs brand new items in the bazaar, theres nothing preventing zos from directly awarding stuff through events and then posting it in the bazaar for those who missed it

even for "rarer" enemies there were ways to find them

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)
