The devs crammed so much stuff into IA that unless you really enjoy it and run it every day you will never get it. I wish I could opt out of the style pages and get more leads instead.
i dont know if the leads and style pages can drop separately, i honestly dont remember and cant test it now anyway as i already have all of the style pages lol
i ran it significantly more when they added new stuff, otherwise i do basically fun runs (i think it took me about 3 weeks to get all of the 2nd gen class gear and all of the 2nd round of achievements), and would definitely say i enjoy running it more with another player than by myself or with a companion and would happily run it with anyone who needed help clearing higher arcs or farming drops on PC NA (could potentially include console too if they ever get around to adding the crossplay stuff lol)
They may drop separately but it seems I get more of the style pages than leads. Probably just a lower drop rate for leads.
I was just saying it would be nice to somehow narrow down the amount of loot in the massive pool. Of course there isn’t.

A couple/few updates back, IA looting was changed so that style pages and leads no longer excluded each other. So getting a style page shouldn't prevent a lead from dropping. I think they also made the reward coffer from the daily quest curated as well. Can't recall exactly because I'd already farmed it out by the time that came about, so can't say as to how much it helps.

You might want to check guild traders for them to see how the process compare. Gold is easier to farm than Fortunes. I ran across one purple plan I did not have and got it for less than 20k gold from a trader.

at least the leads last significantly longer now, so your more likely to get ones you actually need instead of farming it a lot in a 30 day timespan lol
if you have eso+ you have a solid year to dig up the leads, so at least should be able to thin down any missing ones

Sometimes the same source (like the IA) can drop multiple leads. I've run into the situation where I want lead A from a source, but I keep getting lead B instead (and I usually already have item B up the wazoo). So I've learned that if I want lead A but I get lead B, not to dig it it up right away, because then subsequent attempts won't drop lead B again.
I do what you do.Elvenheart wrote: »…is how many players (like myself right now) are running the IA to get fortunes just to buy the weekly furnishing plans that change each week, and maybe an antiquity lead if it’s really hard to get otherwise?
I used to run the IA just to get all the books, and right about the time I finally got all of them they added the three weekly furnishing plans, so that’s what I’ve been doing ever since. I’ve just been wondering if a lot of other players are doing that too or if it’s just a few of us. 🙂
But what I still find incredibly annoying is that bosses like the dragons appear as early as Arc 1, instantly killing you. Why can't that be a challenge starting in Arc 2?
SilverBride wrote: »That is one of my biggest complaints about the IA too, and I previously made a thread about it. But I don't know if I've ever seen a dragon in Arc 1.

I've seen a dragon in Arc 1, usually cycle 3.
I've never liked the platforms. It's frustrating when you just make one small mistake (or the game isn't responding quickly enough to input!) and end up being knocked off, especially because you have limited lives. I always feel as if the game is cheating. One of the reasons I don't engage with the IA much.

Unfortunately from what I understand that doesn't actually make a difference to how often Lead A will drop. B is still coming up just as often, you just stop seeing it.

It has felt different to me. When I hang on to B, I eventually get A. But if I don't have B, then B seems to be all I ever get. But YMMV.
I run IA three times a week (to complete Arc 2) and only buy Undaunted Style Masks or Shoulder page. I don’t need leads anymore (everything’s at 3/3), and I don’t want furnishings plans (I’m not really a “housing” guy), so the only thing I’m interested in from the vendor is the Style page—and that’s practically the only reason I run IA.

in the archive ive typically gotten a vast majority of my leads from scamps or bonus portals than boss chests, i think tho'at has a chance to drop leads and likely marauders too, but since those are very limited per arc i usually get them mostly from bonus portals and scamps (of which you can get multiple per arc)
ive also had better luck getting leads in higher arcs, though im not 100% sure on that, it could have been runs where i had few bonus portals in the lower arcs and more bonus portals in higher arcs. usually when i do an arc 3 or arc 4 run, i tend to get at least 3-5 leads almost every time i do that with how many bonus portals/scamps spawned
and like the other post mentioned, if you have a lead and you dont need it, it wont drop that lead for you again until it expires or you dig it up

At first, I started collecting the style pages, but that used up my fortunes too fast and I realize that most of the monster Helm styles are things I would probably never use. I was very happy though when that one style came up, the Baron Zarvis mask or something like that.
