Trade Bar Satchels - Why?

Why do Trade Bars come in a satchel instead of just being directly rewarded like tickets were? Is there some limitation or advantage I am not aware of? If there isn't I would personally prefer they are just awarded instead of me having to find it in my bag and open it.

Agreed, it's an unnecessary step. It doesn't need to stack and other players can't steal them from you (like Tel Var).

Agree, sometimes I missed the ticket notification and forgot how many I had before. Spent an entire day once thinking the game bugged out when I wasn't getting tickets.

Perhaps it's to make it more obvious that you've received them. With tickets being limited to 12, it was a fairly simple matter to know what you started with and whether you collected them for the day, but with trade bars being a larger number and having no limit, it would be easy to lose track.

Perhaps there is also some backend reason for it, as it sounds like trade bars will be coming from more sources in the future.

I think that what this does is allows them to better dispense them as rewards for other activities.

Event Tickets for years had issues with the loot tables and in some cases just wernt being provided as loot. Especially in cases where you needed to say, loot a boss.

In theory this should address this. Also, it allows these satchels to be easier to be dispensed from say twitch drops, or in rewards for the worthy, or random dungeon runs or other such activities if ZOS wants to do that.

Probably due the system change. The games Engine was designed for the tickets but with this new addon portion it probably caused alot of problems. Besides you can store them better as you collect.

It makes it a lot more obvious that you've received them, which is probably a lot better from the customer support perspective.

There are some add-ons that open containers. They can probably be updated for this.

Nope, each one takes up its own inventory slot.

I like the satchels even though they aren’t needed for the same reason as tel var. I can see the currency on screen when I open them versus I might have missed it from the quest turn-in.

And too, I like to be able to glance at the inventory/bank icon to refresh my memory as to how many I have total. I'm not too proud to admit that sometimes I lose count, or just flat out misremember.

Hmmm.

It reminds me a bit of TelVar satchels, and the way satchels dropping from quests rewards can help you protect your TelVar if you accidentally open one while out in IC. I wonder if it's programmed this way because of something PVP related coming eventually? >.>;

Dolgubon's Writ Crafter add-on does it for boxes from writs and Jubilee.
very helpful for saving time if you are doing writs on multiple characters

They could leave the empty satchel who you could sell for one gold.

I once found an heavy sack containing 4 butterfly wings, making me question the heavy part of the sack.

I've wondered about that too, but then I realised that maybe the sack itself is heavy, not the contents.
