So my son has a steam deck and suggested I might like the portablity for ESO. I think that steam is supported? But would I have to buy a new copy of the game. I have ESO+ will that transfer? If I do need a new copy fo the game will it be an entirely new account with no shared crowns (or shared like between server now).

I'm ok with starting over. I set up an account on the PSEU after playing of PSNA for years. It wasn't all that bad.
thanks!

I don't think so. I have played on Steam Deck from when it released -- back then installing it required some tricks, but nowadays you can just install it.

If it is in your Steam library, you can install it, because it uses the PC version on Steam. If you have a PS account, probably not. You can't install ESO on your PC either, afaik. If that is not possible, then Steam Deck is not possible.

Because Steam Deck is basically a Linux based portable PC, you could install pretty much any game running on PC, regardless of the platform -- some just require more tricks than others. But I don't think ESO license is transferrable from PS to PC.

Yes, Steam is supported. But if you don't have it on Steam already then you have to buy it again.

    S I have ESO+ will that transfer?

It's possible to link the Steam account to your Elder Scrolls Account (at least for PC). Then everything including your characters are available on Steam.

If you had a PC account you could play it on your Steam deck, but because you have a Playstation account you'll need to buy another copy of the game (getting it via Steam would be simplest) and nothing from your current account will transfer over.

At some point in the future we're supposed to be getting cross-play and then you might be able to use your existing Playstation account on your Steam Deck, but that could be years away and we don't know for sure how it'll work, so I wouldn't wait for it.

If you want to take advantage of add-ons, on Steam Deck, watch this video. It's far more complicated than I expected. https://youtu.be/8e4cU9I7J0A?si=U8HhbNxKSAH7xust

Also, since the Steam Deck version runs in "console mode" - you can't change how add-ons are set up; they're either on or off. It is possible to run the Steam Deck in desktop mode, and then you are best off getting a USB-C mouse and making changes with that.

If you decide to go down the add-ons path and you have any trouble, pm me - I only fixed my add-ons last weekend.

I use my steam deck to play eso on occasion. No issues. But there may be some steps to set it up.

If you bought your copy of eso and habe your eso+ through Steam then your good. Just install, login and play.

If you bought it via the eso web page, its easiest to link your web page account to your steam account. Then login and play.

If you own it via epic, it gets more complicated but still possible. Though it might be easier just to get a steam version.

You.can also use it without steam but again its a process to set up and launch.
