First fragment of the collectible, 'Blooming Saddle, not on the gold box?

Have I misunderstood this?

I don't have the fragment so I'd expect to get it before starting to get pages, but on one of my accounts I just opened the gold box and rather than the fragment I got a page.

Are the fragments 'a chance' as well now, so conceivably one could participate in the event and not get it? (like the piggie for instance, which I still haven't finished in a couple of accounts).

If that's the case I don't think I like this new system very much.

Then I prefer the old system

Not really keen on leaving the time-limited collectibles to RNG.

As I mentioned still haven't managed to finish the Sovereign Sow in a couple of accounts despite participating enthusiastically on the event every year.

I really don't crave more of that.

The fragment will be buyable for trade bars later. I think the intent was to ease the pressure on spending trade bars by giving people a bonus, but tying it to RNG is always going to have some people miss out.

the new Wildsteed (*Thorn's Bite Withersteed) mount fragments will be purchaseable at the impressario during q2 events starting with Jubilee on April 2.

we are getting a chance at the first fragment early

That makes sense now, thank you. I didn't realise that was the case.

After the experience that was the grind for the style pages during the 10th Anniversary event I tend towards the pessimistic outlook when it comes to... 'surprises'.

I’m right there with you about the grind for the 10th Anniversary style pages. I still haven’t quite recovered over all of that. 😢

Short answer: Yes, you are misunderstanding the wording.

Your daily golden coffer can drop any of the items that the purple coffers can drop, but in addition to that they also have a chance to drop either a new "One Bad Knight" page or the first of the fragments for the mount morph.

Neither of those is guaranteed to drop, but if one does drop then you won't get the other one in the same golden coffer.

And you won't receive the first fragment of the morph if you've already received it on a prior day.

But there is nothing in the announcement that says you are supposed to receive the first fragment before you can receive one of the new pages.
