Refund in crowns to all outfit slots many players spent money to buy for years should be automatic

I read some place some folks are "asking" refund (in crowns) for all money spent buying outfit slots. If this is true, in fact ZOS has the responsibility to refund all players who buy this stuff BY DEFAULT.

We spent a lot of money and yet we need to "remember" ZOS we deserve the refund in crows? This is really not fair.

    Not going to happen.
By your logic everyone that bought a Chapter over the years should get a refund for all those being made available through ESO+ and free going forward.

I always found it a bit unfair that my purchases are not viewable anywhere on consoles.

I have been using a spreadsheet for a few years now and thankfully tracked how many outfits slots I have purchased. It was around 90, since I had deleted a few toons, and couldn’t provide an accurate figure.

I submitted a ticket and they were quite generous with their refund. I wouldn’t be surprised if the crown refund functionality depends on tickets in someway.

ZOS does not have the responsibility to automatically refund. They are actually being nice about the process by even offering it. Rather than post about the "responsibility" ZOS has, why not just submit the refund request ticket? It's pretty fair for ZOS to allow an avenue for refunds rather than not even offer a possibility. "Fair" is a loaded word.

Are purchases viewable on PC? We have a billing history for things we pay RWC for and for any redeemed codes. I don’t see anything bought with crowns there. I’d have thought there would be some record we could see, since the one time I asked to refund a crown store cosmetic I was asked for the date of purchase. I replied reminding them they don’t provide that information, so I couldn’t say for sure if it had been two days or three. I asked Gina if there were some way to see this or for them to show it to us, but never got a response (I’m sure it just got lost in the chaos that must be doing the equivalent of five+ people’s jobs).

I'm only aware of the billing history page, like you mentioned.

As for support having that kind of information - they for sure have it in some form. I've submitted tickets in the past where support recounted my transaction or activity history back to me. I don't know if that's changed, or if it was unique to my account or something. But I find it very hard to believe they don't have a record of every transaction. It would be great if CS or the CMs could clarify that.

Regardless, I would just submit a ticket. It's really nice of them to do this, they don't have to.

It's not a big deal to submit a ticket. I'm glad they are doing this at all.

It's really nice they made the decision to give refunds in this situation.

Maybe they didn't have an automated way to do this, since many purchases may be many years old at this point. They are still spending manpower on it though so it is hard to be upset at them.

I wasn’t even expecting anything, but I put in a ticket and got some crowns back (which was most effective, because I’m gonna spend 12k Crowns on character tokens in the next two weeks because I have some character changes coming up)

While automating this would be easier for the players, it’s not an imposition to just do tickets. Also be sure to spread the word too.

this is what your not understanding the way they done this you are actually losing the use of something you paid for unlike dlc's or chapters that become free that you dont lose the use of like them that has gotten more then 8 slots because thats when it starts being an negative and theres a lot of players who had upwards of 50-160 slots paid for ( 136 myself ) so yes zos did the right thing here for once

I am glad you can get a refund upon request but you are not losing anything. If you had ten characters with maxed out outfit slots before you will still have ten characters with maxed out outfit slots. Basically it is like you paid for early access.

You can get a refund with a ticket, but not necessarily a full one. I only got half the amount of my extra slots returned. Was nice to get anything back but still a bit disappointing when so many people have posted about getting full refunds.

I'd bought 18 slots and got 6750 crowns back

Untrue. This was a functionality change. They were individual and now they're account wide. If the crowns store allowed for it, nobody sane would continue to purchase account wide slots after they had already purchased ten. But they would buy individual slots after already having 10 for different characters. This leads to a drastically difference in purchase behavior because the function is different. Blackwood didn't change how it worked when it got cheaper. We lost individual slots because they changed the basic gameplay function to account wide slots.

    ETA
It's not solely about the number of outfits that can be made. But whether or not the customer would make the same purchasing decisions given the drastic change in functionality. The answer to the latter is no, that's not the product we purchased and we would not make the same purchase today. So, it's a good thing for ZOS to refund the crowns. It gives confidence that ZOS takes drastic altering of core functionality of paid products seriously.

No, all we had was a general question from the announcement where they’d “look into” doing something, and then that was it.

I found out from the forum thread when @spartaxoxo mentioned putting in a ticket, so I just put one in and linked the thread. They got back to me pretty soon after, so that was great. Like I said, I wasn’t expecting anything, so to get something was really awesome.

No. But you find screenshots on Reddit of others who have put in a ticket and got their crowns back. I filed my ticket in-game under the item assistance/I have a problem with a crown store item category and then explained further on the automatic email. They had a very quick turnaround time and the process was simple and easy.

Needing to make a ticket seems like a decent compromise—sometimes businesses are more likely to agree to be generous when that generosity requires a few extra steps.

It's unfortunate, but they are unlikely to announce something like this. The fact that they're doing it is fantastic even if it doesn't effect me, but it'd be nice to see an in game message.
