Companion helmets in combat only? Adornments?

I know they don't want us to be able to completely cover companions faces as to not obscure their identity. I was wondering if perhaps a good compromise would be to have an option where companions only equip a head piece while in active combat, then remove it when out of combat.
If anything, I think that would only add to their identity. When we see other companions out in the battlefield, it won't feel so generic seeing 5 Zeriths and 3 Sharps in the mix.

Or maybe allow us to slot major and minor adornments on them.

I actually wish the new team would have a different view about helmets on companions, there's no reason to enforce that on the players.

Not obscuring the companions identity should be something up for the players to decide.
@MorvanClaude on PC/NA, don't try to trap me with lore subjects, it will work🦇

A helmet doesn't even obscure, hide or remove a companion/character's identity. I find the notion and this reasoning of theirs ludicrous. Is Sotha Sil less Sotha Sil because he wears his mask? Or Almalexia when she dons hers? As Lucien Lechance less Lucien because he wears a hood? Is Bacaro Volorus/Ascendant Lord not himself when he wears a bloody helmet? Examples goes on. Like my characters, no matter if they are in ESO, tabletop DnD, or some other game doesn't stop being who they are, just because they wear a hat, hood, helmet or something. It's silly. Like Isobel wants and going to be knight without a knight's helmet, that's going to be a short knighthood.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

I agree. Companions should be allowed to change head gear, it's the OLD ZOS that felt they shouldn't. I mean, doesn't everyone rush into combat without head gear? Apparently they thought so.

Exactly - 100%. Is the game's slogan 'play how you want', or is it 'play how the devs think you should play'?

Players should be able to equip hairstyles, major adornments, hats, helms on companions.
PC NA(no Steam), PvE, mostly solo

I was about to make another thread on the topic and saw this! We need Companion Helmets.

It is highly immersion-breaking to see duplicates of any Companion that is not Azandar!
Dragon Priest [Restoring Light, Draconic Power, Grave Lord]
Death Knight [Grave Lord, Winter’s Embrace, Siphoning]
Pyromancer [Ardent Flame, Dawn’s Wrath, Earthen Heart]
Summoner [Living Death, Grave Lord, Daedric Summoning]
Ranger [Animal Companions, Green Balance, Shadow]
Druid [Earthen Heart, Animal Companions, Stormcalling]
Elementalist [Stormcalling, Winter’s Embrace, Ardent Flame]
Dawnguard [Dawn’s Wrath, Restoring Light, Ardent Flame]
