New player gathering materials for crafting?

how does crafting work here?can i farm materials and ask some guy to craft the gear for me or are materials locked behind a characters crafting level so if i want a lv 30 gear set i would need to level my crafting up to level 30 before i can gather materials needed?

You can harvest your own materials any time at any level, the game will give you mats for your level.and you can find people to craft for you, usually you just have to ask and they'll do it if you supply the mats.

Once you level up your crafting skills you can make your own gear.

I don't know which sever/region you are playing on but if you are playing on PC-EU I could certainly help you with crafting some decent sets to get you going.

Not sure about other servers but just asking nicely in zone chat will usually get you some help!

Materials for levelled gear you gather alternate between materials for items of your character level and crafting level. So if you have reached the max gear level of 160CP but your blacksmithing is still level 1 you'll alternate between getting iron ore and rubedite ore.

Just to clarify, it's not the level of your skill (blacksmithing, in this case), but the level based on the number of skill points spent in the skill line corresponding to the materials used. (For BS/Cloth/WW, the one that goes up to level 10, for Jewelry to level 5)
