It would be nice if you entered an outfit station that your character is no longer displayed in the the same environment with the normal games lighting and shadow - as this makes it really hard to judge and align colors at times especially with mounts for example...
The best lighting has the login screen, so it would be really nice that you get ported or at least displayed within a similar lighting environment, maybe even including your chosen mount at the side - this would make it much easier to choose and align colors....

I wish there was a lighting/time of day/weather toggle in general but it would be especially useful in the outfit station.

I think it's important to give multiple lighting options to sift through though because there are some dyes that look very different in the dark too.

Outfit station? What about character creation? The lighting is HORRIBLE... sometimes you end up creating a character, only to see them in actual game lighting and realize how bad the skin tone is, or other features look. They really need to offer lightning adjustment in BOTH the outfit station and character creation screens.

Oh, agreed. For half of my characters, I made them on the pts where I have infinite character customization tokens and then screenshotted their sliders to make them on live. It's especially bad for dunmer, altmer, and orcs.

I'd prefer an option to change the lighting, with a few different settings, including the actual lighting for the area you're currently in. I agree that some outfit stations are in locations that don't always have good lighting, especially if they're outside and it happens to be night when you go there, but I also don't want to design an outfit that only actually looks right under very specific lighting that rarely/never occurs in the game. One of the advantages of outfit stations IMO are that they use real lighting so you can see what you're character actually looks like in the game world as you're editing things.

Also I doubt you'll ever get everyone to agree on what 'great' lighting looks like. I've had a few people recommend me a specific home with an outfit station (either their own or a guild member's) because it has "really good" lighting and then I load in and find it's so blindingly bright I can't actually see anything clearly, especially if they've used enchanted lights in odd colours.

But my favourite when I'm designing a new outfit is to go to one of my homes, because then I can move the outfit station around to different locations with different lighting, to see how it looks in different situations.

I placed an outfit station outside on the Seabloom Villa's upper level. Positioning the outfit station and setting the chronometer to a time of day when the sun is brightest, so that the sun shines directly on the character's face/front. Perfect lighting free of other ambient light effects. Though I'd speculate there are other houses with similar outdoor lighting.

There is a great outdoor location in Ebonheart, Stonefalls, that works well for outfit design... during the day of course.

They should as the absolute minimum add a button that shows your character in the same room as the furniture preview uses.
