Another option is to make hakeijo and maybe some other loot available through another activity. IC PvP enthusiasts would continue fighting each other there, while players that were there only for farming and resent this change wouldn't have to come back at all

Its not. I've been getting more player interactions in there than I have in years still since the update dropped. The only people that left are the Oaken Lightning Staff spammers that run away from you (or try to Tri-Focus glitch you) when you do PVP in a PVP zone. Plenty of players in here and ones that actually enjoy the full set of mechanics IC brings to boot. Had a lot of intense 1v1s and outnumbered fights this whole week+ and I love it again despite DK's dominant stance at the moment.Reginald_leBlem wrote: »Erickson9610 wrote: »I lament no longer being able to PvP in Imperial City while waiting for a Cyrodiil queue. This was 90% of my time in IC prior to this patch. Doesn't suprise me its a ghost town now.
Dude. lol This thread its titled "IC Unplayable Now" because an exploit is being fixed by ZOS which will encourage PVP in a PVP zone. I'm not crying and never have. People tried to solidify "queue-out culture" as fair and valid "playstyles" and so I would defeat them in PVP and sometimes would queue out and sometimes not; not because I like the queue-outs but because I know they would do the same to me. We have had people crying about gankers and Tel-Var loss since the inception of the Imperial City and, woop, they weren't PVP players. The exploiters were all smug and now the bug/exploit is being fixed. Players using Sigils of Imperial Retreat have been playing the game exploit-free and are thusly NOT crying/upset. This is where gleaning the self-awareness on the situation will be a learning lesson for the long-term. Not just for ESO, but for life beyond this point. PVP players know how to exit the Imperial City expediently and fairly, as well as survive against gankers/gank attempts. They're not the ones crying.
are you not a pvp player then?
The pvp guys I know are like nope, not bothering with that nonsense. I'm a pvper and I'm nope not bothering.
Only the telvar clans roaming in there are happy about the change

Listen, friend. I'm happy that we've found a way to make IC playable for you after contributions to the discussion. However, it seems like the issues you've been struggling with persist outside of ESO itself. Metas, stalkers and harassment exist no matter what game you play. Taking it personally is not a great way to cope with it; it just taxes you mentally. If a mod allowed "corruption" from the beginning, it wasn't good. The mod (and all other addons) don't necessarily do more than what the game already provides, though, and gamebreaking behavior was encouraged regardless of mods installed. The queue-outs broke a sense of object permanence required for gameplay to make sense. Its been dealt with, and we've all adapted just like I adapted to when the queue-outs were put into the game.Dude. lol This thread its titled "IC Unplayable Now" because an exploit is being fixed by ZOS which will encourage PVP in a PVP zone. Well, again you can't just qualify this and say it's a thread of some people who are mad that we can no longer exploit exiting IC. I mean, yes, it's something should have been patched long time ago. I said as much, so did others.
The mod that allowed this behavior probably originally was intended to make it easier for farmers and casuals to organize their farming runs. But the mistake I think, was making it available to everyone because over the years it led to more and more abuse. Making the move from an organizer to something that interfered with regular gameplay by people stupidly just leaving at the first sign of trouble. I've seen it, been disgusted starting a fight and then poof they're gone.
It's as I said, while certainly it's not everyone, but the more people get in on an opportunity the more the possibility for corruption and turning it into something bad, which I believe IS what happened here. But that said, I have to be honest I'm no longer interested in duking it out with submetas, neither are perhaps most PvPers because of the submeta exploits ... every day ... and it's not a real battle. More like an execution. In IC, you really don't want to put yourself in a situation where you're forced to fight practically everyone you meet to get out of there. That was my first mistake in IC and the first lesson I learned from there.
It's a cycle of violence, a cycle of abuse, it starts with submetas and exhorbant damage and builds that are copy and paste heavy DPS ... not what people like but what will 'win'. That's key. PvP means I have a chance to win to, but I don't. I woke up and realized this. BTW - My IC operations are running again. I has a new schedule, with a new build, shiny new playbook, new approach with new car smell. But some things never change. I've dodged stalkers, enforcers and even a spotter ... who led an enforcer to me ... but I got away. Saw it coming. If someone from your faction keeps following you or suddenly shows up and then *stops* watch out.
Still not happy, but it appears I'm still smarter than them. And going forward, that's what this requires is using your noggin. Cause most of you, regardless of whether you like what I'm saying or not, you don't stand a chance either. So be smart, remember that doing stupid things only gives stupid prizes. But for those for whom this relates, learn to trust yourselves again because that's the only way we're going to make it this time ... it's not like before where it was so easy to run with other people from the faction. This time when trouble comes, there is no shortcut home and there is no real trust between players.
Be wise, be safe ... be aware.

Now, this is what I don't like or understand. Who, exactly, are you smarter than? Are we talking about developers? Harassers? PVPers? Because this part of the post seems to show a dangerous mentality when approaching gaming communities. A superiority complex over an exploit being patched. Everyone was aware of the queue-outs. Its not secret knowledge, and the current exploit will also be patched. I sympathize with you dealing with players following you and harassing, but I hope your mentality about "smartness" and the chip on your shoulder heals.
Playing smart, picking battles and assessing risk is Imperial City's core gameplay. I'm glad that the end result of the exploit being fixed is a reinforcement of what IC is all about. Cheers!
I'm only here because the thread was titled "IC is Unplayable" when it is very playable. You either exploit a loophole or you don't. At least admitting its a loophole to selfishly gain unintended benefits would be the mature thing to do. We don't have to go about mental gymnastics and culture warfare to keep smug about abusing exploits. The hyperbole that content is less playable when an exploit impacting its playability (vanishing from the content by queueing during combat is the opposite of playing the game) is fixed is indicative of this behavior. Of course I will defend the core gameplay of the Imperial City. "I don't care about the game, I got my gold coins" is the mindset that I am against and understanding that this is what has victimized the Imperial City since it got torn away from Cyrodiil is where you can pinpoint the damage. At that point, why even play Imperial City? Why play ESO at all? Gold is so easy to get.Listen, friend. Thank you for your rather severe analysis about me. My thoughts expressed on here, are genuine. I have no need to defend myself. I have no reason to provide any more details because you're making this about me instead of listening, friend.
Reading thru this thread, I do admit I've kind of held back. However, as I see it now, my opinion of your thoughts on here is you seem to be at everyone's throat. You also seem rather accusatory. Like we're all a bunch of exploiters, which is never been the case and then in your reply before last you talked about why this thread was opened. It wasn't to complain or exploit, so I opened it. Not you. I think my word holds more than your accusations and personal attacks of me.
When you engage in personal attacks, unconstructive and hostile assumptions towards someone else's character, you fail to realize that reveals something about you. And since yolu're being so honest, let me be honest and tell you that constantly arguing with everyone and reaching all these negative conclusions about people posting says something about you.
I have said what I have said. I'm a person like everyone else and the fact that I can be empathetic towards others opinions and feelings, while you seemingly take offense to that, says I am secure in all facits. People can disagree with me, be themselves and if you don't like me that's fine but don't disrespect me especially after all the respect I have showed everyone on here. No one deserves that.

I was not the one engaging in personal attacks at all. In fact, a different chat member did that to me which incurred moderation in this thread. "Name and Shame" TOS rules are real and nobody should be doing that. I speak on-topic. Otherwise, when I discuss the perceived meaning of why you have created this thread, I do try to understand why it has been made at all. So, of course, since IC is indeed playable (moreso now than in years), I will come in holding statements accountable and asking for debate. Questioning philosophy is NOT personal attacks. Using an exploit speaks for itself. Lamenting the removal of an exploit; more of the same. It is only safe to assume those abusing the exploit are the ones upset about it being fixed. I was right about that. Where is the personal attack in that? If I PVP, I am a PVPer. If I PVE? A PVEer. PvPvE? You guessed it. Exploit-abuse? Yes; an exploiter. Its not a personal attack.
Thats cool. There's nothing to hide from or to grandstand on either. Its a videogame that we care about. There are players who want a get-rich-quick simulator and another that vye to see rich gameplay mechanics with varying levels of difficulty/complexity. I will continue to advocate for the core gameplay mechanics of the Imperial City since their inception and I am applauding ZOS for stepping up and finally taking a stand for the content that I enjoy!I'm only here because the thread was titled "IC is Unplayable" when it is very playable.
EDIT: The attempted "un-PVPing" of the PvPvE Content Imperial City is wasn't the own/win the PVE community thought it was in the long-term.
Cheers!
The last couple replies on here reminds of what it was like dealing with hmm maybe 2 or 3 Guild leaders. It didn't matter what I said, or even in several instances where they was blatently wrong, they'd never admit it. When pressed on why there were not shall we say, in my favor, they were silent and hid behind their fake authority. Others on here, when one of us makes a point that bothers them, they hide behind what they perceive, to be weaknesses of a more personal nature, which said discussion of which in and of itself should be outside the discussion.
We all hide when we're afraid. I'm still standing. And you haven't changed my opinion one bit.
I'm not crying and never have. People tried to solidify "queue-out culture" as fair and valid "playstyles" and so I would defeat them in PVP and sometimes would queue out and sometimes not; not because I like the queue-outs but because I know they would do the same to me. My guy you are acting high and mighty about wanting to reintroduce an exploit
