So not sure if this is a bug or not but since the update it feels like I've lost crit rating.

I was told before (Only started to play in December) that unless you were facing south the game considered you "flanking the world" As I found it weird my crit rating would go down or up depending on where I faced.

I naturally have 57.5% crit rate. With the Hemorrhage passive it says I gain 1314 crit rating when I deal crit damage what should increase my crit rating by 6% bringing my crit rating up to 63.5% then with my Master Assassin passive I should gain another 6.6% crit rating when flanking an enemy meaning my crit rating should go all the way up to just over 70% however when I look at the combat metrics of my attempts on the trial dummy it's showing my Effective crit at 60% with a max being at 63.5%

Of course my crit rating goes down when I swap to my Greatsword backbar. Basically 44% without any buffs however even if I just do an attempt on a trial dummy NEVER going to my bar back it still states my effective crit rating is 63.5% with a max of 63.5%

Basically I feel like the Master Assassin passive just isn't working. Unless for some reason they have "hidden" the increase in crit rating when you're flanking an enemy what would seem like a silly thing to change no?

When I check my older saved trial dummy attempts I can see for example it saying "Effective crit 65.3% with Max 68.7%" what would make sense as in that attempt 3 pieces of my gear are missing Divine. Yet now with all my gear having Divine on it and in theory more Crit than I previous did it's showing me having much less crit.

Maybe I'm just missing something or maybe it's a bug either way info would be lovely.

They removed the crit rating for Master Assassin from the character sheet:

“Master Assassin: This passive no longer displays its effects on your character sheet. Fun fact, this passive was treating you as a valid target in its calculation for UI results - and since entering your character sheet visibly turns your character to face you (the camera) on your client, but your actual character remains facing forward, it could count as a success of you flanking yourself.”

This is actually more accurate and consistent with how they do Force of Nature and other target-dependent (de)buffs.

Since you only get that flanking bonus while flanking, the extra crit is not inherent to your character’s stats and should not be shown as such. The fact it was showing only while facing a particular direction (due the way the camera caused you to “flank” your own character) was also causing recurrent issues where people would believe it only worked while facing that direction, whereas actual testing showed it worked as stated and intended regardless of what the character stat page showed.

If you discover this passive not working in actual testing, though, rather than going by what it says on the sheet, that would certainly be a bug. Instead of looking at the crit rate stat shown in the center panel of CMX, what is your actual crit rate? (Divide crit hits over total hits — these are shown off to the left side in CMX. For best testing results, do not use anything incapable of critting, like Relequen or Zaan, or that produces a guaranteed crit, like Stampede.)

    Many thanks.

So far my results have told me I averaged (doing the method you told me)

61.3% crit overall. 71.5% crit rating from only my front bar.
64.9% crit overall. 73.0% crit rating from only front bar.

Ok yeah thank you! Looks like it is doing everything correctly. Just the back bar lowering the average crit by a chuck.

(My maths isn't exactly perfect as it's hard to work out the maths when it comes to DoTs that will be dealing damage both when I'm on my front and back bar so I only did the crit rate for front bar of my spells that were direct damage)

I'll change the title since your reply has shown me that I was just misinformed.
