Overcharged Stats

Astrid2909
I don't understand "overcharged stats" at all. No matter what I do one to three of mine always say overcharged. I have reset skill and attribute points. I have tried different gear.... it just makes no sense to me. I try researching the issue online and every article I can find on the topic just confuses me more.....HELP! I'm new to all of this so I need it explained in terms I can understand. Also, I get how to raise the health, magic and stamina base using skill points.... How do you raise to base for the right side regen stats? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

over charged just means that you have hit the soft cap and you will only gain half of the value from that point on, my magic regin, amour, and spell resit stay soft caped

My health and stamina recovery are overcharged now with no gear on. Yesterday as long as I didn't have a full set of light armor on (which makes my magic resist) I was not overcharged at all. How did tjis happen?

there is also a graphic bug ware it dose not show the correct stats as well

I took off all of my gear and jewelry thinking something I was wearing was causing this and it didn't change. I don't understand how to raise the recovery and regen base stats so you have a higher cap. I'm assuming the skill points raise the base for magica, health, and stamina. I am a noob to all of this though so I may be wrong.

Overcharged stats aren't a penalty per se. It just means you hit the soft cap. Which is good. You should try to focus on different stats and not try to increase too much the overcharged ones. I am VR8 and have health, magicka, all regens, spell resist, armour constantly overcharged with gear + food buff.

Ok sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by "half the value". This thread caught my eye because I too have been wondering about how being overcharged on something affects me. I don't usually have much of a problem with it and switching out one piece of armor for something else usually fixes it but I'd still really like a really good clear explanation of it if anyone has one:)

You don't need to "fix" anything.

When you're not overcharged, every point of magicka on your gear gives you 1 point of magicka. When you are overcharged on magicka, every point of magicka on your gear over the soft-cap gives you half a point of magicka.

Being overcharged doesn't affect you in any way, unless you're a min/maxer and are shooting to be just under the cap on all traits.

Soft cap is just a ways to help normalize stats between players. So for example, at VR1, you soft cap for Magicka as a sorcerer is 2000 (just making that up, don't know the actual number off the top of my head). Between gear and mundus stones, etc. you have 2400 Magicka.

That is effectively a 2200, you get full credit for the first 2000 pts but every point above that is 2 for 1. I can still be worth overcharging if you can get a chunk, but you have to debate whether those 400 pts would be better invested in HEalth or Stamina.

Awesome answers, thanks very much to both of you!:)

Thank you to all....I think I get it now! Except for how I am overcharged with no gear or jewlery on. I have the majority of my points in magica as I am a Templar healer on this character....yet the overcharge is on health and stamina recovery...but I'm just gonna quit worrying about it and play. Thanks everyone and have fun I am!!!!! On a side note....if anyone would be willing to help me up my enchanting that would be awesome. None of my friends play and you all no it's a losing battle trying to do it on your own.....thx again!

hmmm, even dumping every pt into the stat shouldn't result in it being overcharged while standing nude.

What mundus stone are you linked to? YOu are removing jewelry and weapons as well? What level and what is the numerical value or the stats that are overcharged it's possible it's displaying incorrectly.

I am currently a lvl 34 Breton Templar. With all clothes, jewelry and weapons removed now I'm not overcharged....it was a paticular staff causing it. Thx huntgod I never considered the weapon. I had everything off but my resto staff. With a full set of light armor I am at 1230/1120 +122 on my spell resistance....because of my light armor passive. I have to replace 4 of the7 with medium to stop the overcharge but I don't really want to so I think I'll just play like this.....Thx again!

I have been overcharged on a stat with nothing equipped and nothing like food/potions/other buffs in effect. Happens to characters that push one stat above others. I have just ignored those orange letters now.

You are welcome...spread your pts around a bit.

You can't really do it too wrong, I am running a magicka based sorc, so I only really wasted 2 pts in stam, everything else went to magick and then health. I can shift the glyphs on my armor to move those numbers where I need them. If I decide to go with a stam build I would need to respect my stats, but I don't see that happening.
