Outfit Station QOL improvement suggestions

First and foremost, the new ability to hide all outfit parts is pretty great, but with the growing number of motifs, it's just getting a bit unwieldy for me. So I got a couple of suggestions that would be game-changers for me personally.
  1. Moving around between selected motifs with the arrow keys. I know in the controller interface we can use the d-pad to select motifs, but with the default mouse and keyboard controls, we have to move the cursor around, clicking on each one at a time. It is not great, honestly. When you are trying to find something, you might end up doing 100 small moves and clicks.
  2. Undo and redo buttons. Again, when you are struggling to find the right motif or dye, and you finally do find it, but then experiment with something else, you have to find it again. If you can't remember the name, you are going back to the clicking and moving mentioned above.
  3. Marking things as favourites. This would help with the other 2 problems above as well. Being able to right-click and mark your favourite motifs, either moving them to the top to their own section, making a copy of them at the top, or just adding a lil star to the icon, could do a lot.
  4. Scaling icons up. This one's a long shot. I understand the textures are the size they are, and scaling them up might look terrible. But maybe my eyes are just bad, but I struggle to tell the difference between the 300 different styles of gloves sometimes. Either that or let us see them as a list with the name, like in our inventory, even if it would be a very long list.

Any other suggestions for small features that would improve the experience of the outfit station?
I hate poking the devs, but @ZOS_Kira is the QOL queen, I heard, so even just reading these suggestions would be really cool.

    Here's a "Gotcha!" that I stumble into a lot..

Apply gold cost from Bank Balance. Drives me crazy how often I spend time mixing and matching styles, experimenting with countless dye colors, to get it just right... only to discover I'm a few gold short in my inventory and have to abandon my work just to withdraw a few coins from the bank.

Let us preview dyes we haven't yet unlocked. I don't chase achievements unless I want a specific reward, and I can't tell what a dye will look like from a tiny square.

I miss when we had an addon that let us save and load what we had made but it was broken by a patch and never fixed. Apparently couldn't be fixed because of changes to the game.

If that could be fixed it would probably also allow undo and redo buttons to work.

Couldn't agree more. Years ago I went and killed the emperor in Cyrodiil for a red dye just to find out it made things really shiny.

At least dyes in eso are not one time use like in some other games..

Here are a couple of QoL options I'd like to see added to the Outfit station:

    1. Option to assign a mount to an outfit style
    2. Option to assign a skin to an outfit style
    3. Option to assign other visual collectibles to an outfit style such as head markings, facial hair, etc.

To be clear, I would want these to be optional, so if you don't want to tie one of these to an outfit style, you simply wouldn't specify these options.

Hats, for one, could just be added as a category under helmets.

Oh, yes. Don't care much about mounts, but one of my outfits require five(!) more items to switch. Each time when it is on/off. Sometimes six (use two personalities for that character, only one fit that outfit).

Wishlist: character slots, minstrel personality, molten war torte and white gold war torte recipes, Willowpond Haven, Kor and Hildegard houseguests, crown crates.

I had another idea just now.
Copy pasting from one slot to another. I wanted to make a new version of another outfit in a different slot. If I had been using gold I could have saved as I was going and gone back and forth to see what motifs and dyes I had on the original. But since I have outfit tokens it would be stupid to not finish it before using it. So I was stuck copying it in one go.

Now THIS is the most baller suggestion. Many of us do not have the patience or the computer space to download PTS when it comes around just to look and preview dyes. I feel like this sort of thing should've been implemented 10 years ago, not sure why it's something that hasn't been implemented.

I truly understand the motivation behinid this one, but I just very recently (as in two days ago) had an experience that would play devil's advocate to this.

Trying different shades/hues of a certain color dye, none of my unlocked dyes seemed able to provide quite what I was looking for. There were 4 more shades of the color that I had not yet unlocked so I picked one that looked like it may be what I want and I set out to get it.

The unlock required that I complete an epilogue quest for a past chapter that heretofore I'd never completed because unforetunately had completed both zones of the saga on two seperate toons. So I had to run the entire storyline of one of the zones all over again to unlock the epilogue quests. I wasn't thrilled at the thought of re-running one of the zones' storylines over again, but I did it. And then I tackled the epilogue quest to unlock the dye. When I completed that, I was all excited, fast traveled to my house eager to try out the new dye, and >BLEH!!< it was not what I wanted at all.

However; destpite all the effort it required to unlock a dye that wasn't what I was looking for.. I really did have a great time unlocking it, and enjoyed the content I needed to complete it. I was glad that I did finally close out an achievement that I'd ignored. And if I had been able to preview that dye beforehand, there's a good chance I'd never find the motivation to complete that content and I'd miss out.

Tbh if the logic is, don't let people preview dyes or they'll lose interest, then I'd argue that they need to offer more appealing dyes.

That was your takeaway? My anecdotal experience was simply that sometimes there's something to be said for encouraging exploration with an element of anxiety over an unknown reward. There was nothing unappealing with the dye color itself. It just didn't happen to be suitable for what I was trying to accomplish at the time. I'm sure there are other outfit designs in which the dye would be absolutely fantastic.

I know what you meant, but I do think the ability to preview a reward should have a positive effect on engagement, overall, and if it doesn't, then they should wonder why. Forcing players to guess at a colour can lead to disappointment.

I was in a similar situation as yours, where I made an effort to get a dye, and it ended up being something I really disliked. Whilst I'm glad I got the achievement, the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth, because the disappointment with the dye undermined my sense of satisfaction with the achievement.

I do think we need a better variety of dyes anyway. I really hope they put more dyes up and give us more options to play around with.

I also don't really think this is a particularly good devils advocate. The entire point of an MMO is player agency, if people don't want to play some content, they shouldn't have to. It's about picking and choosing what you want to do.

That sentiment surely isn't a bad thing at all. People choose whether or not to play tales of tribute, just like they would choose whether or not they'd want to play something based on a dye preview.

But then again, I don't think I've heard of many folks just ignore an entire storyline just because the dye is bad. You've still got other unlocks that make it worth it, like skill points or pets or other things like the armor in solstice. As well as a Bethesda staple: exploration.

Saying "preview dyes would make people not want to explore" is really not a good argument. If people want to explore, they will, regardless of a dye preview.

These are all great ideas. Also, do something better with the "favourite" dye section we already have. I've never been able to understand why it is the way it is. Yes, we can put our favourites there, but we cannot draw from them. So we still have to find it in the lower grid. It's mostly useless.

Maybe add tags to them for searching. I know the high elf motifs also show up if you search for altmer, but the ancient high elf does not. If they were all tagged with things like alternative names for the races, factions, maybe even types like skirts (some skirts are named skirts but usually they aren't.) etc. That could help.

What about Grand Overlord's Brass? Slaughterfish Flesh Pink? Lucentshard Azure that need finish trial in dlc zone? Patron's Gold that needs Tale of Tribute Master achievement (and dlc again)?
All that hero-of-something colors when you are in the middle of your alliance and doesn't want to break logic without reason, and there are lot of zones before needed? Of course, you can do it with another character, but still would be greately disappointed if rushed forward for something that wasn't what you wanted.

Another idea spawned from mild frustration..
If I manually sheathe my weapon when previewing two-handed weapons, it's usually because I want to see the whole sword, which I can't when it's unsheathed because it's cut off by the top of the screen. But whenever I click another one, they unsheathe the weapon again. It would be nice if I could see the whole weapon, either by just not unsheathing it automatically or by letting me move the camera upwards, maybe by zooming in. If we could zoom in and manually move the camera up and down that would be great.

Or just a button to change the scene to a blank grey room with a fill light, yeah.
Like the furniture preview scene, they can load the view into at any point, but for our character.
