Pack Merchants

I have noticed a feature that allows for bag space upgrades from the UI. With this feature why do we still have Pack Merchants in the game?

Because some players like to buy from npc in world rather than click in ui?
Same as why many wants Gold Coast Bazaar as location, not only crownstore section.
    PC EU, @Enemoriana. Ru.
Houses: all sets crafting hub at Rosewine Retreat inn room, Erstwhile Sanctuary as actual Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, Hunter's Glade as werewolf tavern (downstairs), Strident Springs Demesne as adventurer's house.
Wishlist: character slots, minstrel personality, molten war torte and white gold war torte recipes, Willowpond Haven, Kor and Hildegard houseguests, crown crates.

There's also the thought that removing the pack merchants at the same time as implementing the new UI feature might be a lot more work than is worth it. (And potentially cause some issues due to hidden dependencies within the code!). Easier to just leave them all in place.

If nothing else, they contribute to the feeling of a fleshed out, populated, functioning world. I mean, all those NPCs accidentally leaving their backpacks in odd spots across Tamriel are going to need to get replacements from somewhere!

I vote for the option to hide that line for storage capacity in the inventory and let me continue to buy from the npc merchants. I prefer the immersion.

I prefer buying from the merchants, personally. More immersive, as others said. QOL and convenience is very nice, but it's good to have 'less-convenient' options for the sake of playing a game instead of a spreadsheet. If I wanted to play a menu simulator, I'd go play a Paradox game.

This feature in the UI is the biggest troll in Update 49!

Look at this. It says I can purchase bag space!

skill respec shrines are also still in the game and are no longer required.
The short answer is that it takes work and effort to remove things. what's the harm in leaving them?

Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

-Playing since July 2013, back when we had a killspam channel in Cyrodiil and the lands of Tamriel were roamed by dinosaurs.

Are you using Advanced Filters, by any chance?

I hope their main reason for keeping them is not that removal means too much work, but that it's understood as being a part of town design, no matter if the functionality can also be accessed elsewhere or not. They're not just "respec shrines", they're shrines to the Aedra (or to the Tribunal, on Vvardenfell).

Yeah they're part of the world and they're cool. Some people might wanna still go to a physical merchant. I was also disappointed to learn that the new bazzar was not a physical location but a menu, funny enough, inside the crown store. You just so happen to have to go to the cash shop to get to the new "anti fomo" vendor.

I do not have this new feature on any of my toons. Not surprising on my CP 160+ toons but I had one sub-50 toon and still needed to go to an NPC to get upgrades. Thankfully, with the reduced pricing I was able to fully upgrade that toon.

But I did NOT have the ability to upgrade thru the UI. Maybe, should I choose to crate another toon THAT toon will have that function. /+fingers

This “addition” is really distracting. It’s worse than the Mundus stone addition in that it is not at the top of my inventory but is right below Supplies I think. I may have to upgrade everyone just to make it go away.
