Give more shouting NPCs the Stuga treatment

I must confess, I almost miss Stuga (and her old voice). But that's probably simply because I have not heard her in such a long time!

The same cannot be said for Sorinne Gaerard chiming "The first rounds of the Tales of Tribute tournament is[sic] about to begin!" every time one of my twelve characters is just going about their daily writ business in one of the starter capitals. All because I was so desperate to finish the story, I played up to that point with several alts so I could get more dailies per day.

Or how it's become a game in itself to try and visit the bank in Skingrad without triggering Leramil's voice line, if you haven't started the story in West Weald. She has great eyesight and it's almost impossible!

But I don't want to complain about Leramil too hard because it's fair, it's the zone story and should be easily discoverable.

Sorinne on the other hand, and other such mid-questline town criers who show up in places in no way related to the story, several years after its launch, if there are any others like that... Could we please relegate them to the Stuga category (or alternatively give us in-game settings to choose how much shouting we want to hear)? Thank you for reading.

Actually I just walked past Lady Arabelle's posse whilst doing writs in Gonfalon with another character, and I think she has got a bit easier to avoid. (Historically she has been much too easily triggered, and their chat goes on forever.) So perhaps something has been done about the trigger ranges of NPC convos already, possibly as recently as Monday's update. If so, I appreciate it greatly!

    That Sorinne, though.

    100% Agreed.

I don't want to be annoyed into doing content. That's what it feels like. Each DLC has a quest giver that appears in a dozen places. The companion quests (Ember's especially, oof) are the same. It's so immersion breaking to see the same NPCs pop up 100s of feet apart. The base game is also littered with quest givers that run up to me, stalk me, block wayshrines, and get in the way of me doing other things.

I really wish they'd address these issues and add a volume slider for ambient dialogue.

I think they should have the zone dlc starts in the crown store, the "free" port that every zone dlc gets that is usually next to but not in the main city and maybe a couple out of the way places that make sense story wise like outside of markarth for that dlc

But I shouldn't be porting into a city to hear the same intro "please pick this up" dozens of times

The ones that really bug me are the "town gossips" that have to comment on everything I've done in that zone.
    "Did ya hear!"
    "Can you believe it!"

All I can think is, "I know, I was there. I did it. Shut up and get a life."
NPCs living that "main character life" vicariously. Lol!

I can sort of understand those shouters who let you start a questline. Is it ideal to hear Prince Azah sighing about Master Merric all over Tamriel? No, but better that than players needing to google where they need to go for that story.

But ideally, there's be a built-in way to control the ambient dialogue. I don't particularly care for much of it either, but I also can't be made to get an addon to control it, and I don't want to get rid of all of it, because the world would probably feel pretty bare without any of it. So having something like frequency options like those for companion comments + taking care of those Sorinnes of the world, and we might be approaching a pleasant amount of chatter for everyone.

And while we are discussing sounds, I would pay for an addon or setting that lets you selectively mute annoying sounds in in the world. Like... Aeliah Renmus' panflute :#

Since I use Riften as a base the subclassing lady is by far the most annoying to me right now. Does she have to set up right by the wayshrine? It makes the area unpleasantly crowded too.

And bards singing. Their volume setting isn't under dialogue or music, but effects. Cause that makes sense, right?

I don't know if it's available for consoles, but this addon has been a blessing:
    https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info3429-ShutYerTrap-MuteNPCs.html

That said, there are some it can't catch (coded differently?) like the NPC who constantly yells at the Khajiit, Mizashur, near the Belkarth wayshrine. I hate this and either run away from the area before they start, or mute the game.

And of course, base game / non-addon options are always nice if possible.

I tried this for the panflute once, didn't work (because the flute isn't dialogue. I wasn't surprised, but I had to try). Have been thinking about giving it a try for Sorinne, but been too lazy :D I understand it lets you pick which traps you want to shut and that's good.

This case is especially un-ideal since he also laments about "guild master Merric" if Merric shouldn't be the guild master yet, because the player character has not finished the Fighters Guild base game questline. It's basically a spoiler been yelled at new characters - including new characters of players who just started to play ESO - when ever you enter or leave your faction's starter city. In Davon's Watch it's particularly jarring.
