Agree with OP and have had the concern of effortless rewards now requiring chores instead.
Yes you could look at logging in daily as a chore too but less so than having to log in AND do some pointless task for a checklist.
I'm someone who likes a lot of independence as to how I spend my time in the game. Logging in was fine.
I already skipped daily endeavors and sometimes golden pursuits if the tasks didn't interest me.

You can reroll the new tasks.
But the thing is, you won't have to pay to get the stuff that we see currently. There may be MORE of them available if you pay, but I remember during my time looking at the Tome on the PTS that the free level included the Monster Hunter Personality, I think it was a pack of 3 or 4 Crates, numerous Style pages, and of course stuff like exp scrolls. You can still get them if you really need or want them, but you won't have to pay unless you want MORE of them or want the more situational things, but the free version will include the stuff as well.Except no you won't, where are people getting the idea you need to pay for higher tiers of Tome to get scrolls and stuff? That's being included in the free Tome everyone has access to and the Gold Coast Bazaar.barney2525 wrote: »Logins are a Great idea.
where you going to get basic stuff like xp scrolls, repairs, food, tri-potions etc for those Extra characters you decide to create?
Oh, yeah. You get to Pay Cash Money for them.
I believe some will be included in the free tier, but I also think some will be locked behind the Premium tier too. How much we’ll get for free versus how much we’ll have to pay for is something I’m very curious about.
As to where people are getting the idea that scrolls and such might be paid, it’s not unsubstantiated. Here’s a page from PTS with Companion xp consumables and Alliance War scrolls on the Premium track:
This certainly doesn’t mean scrolls won’t appear on the free track. On the other hand, while it doesn’t guarantee that scrolls will appear on the Premium track, it does strongly suggest the possibility — especially since things we have been promised would be on the Premium track were also there on PTS (like the multirider spider) too.
Perhaps the Premium track will be reserved for these rarer/new xp consumables. (We can already see writ vouchers and chicken dinners and other things from daily logins there, though, too.) Perhaps not. I’m looking forward to finding out in April.
Edited: yikes grammar on a phone
There is absolutely no way of know if they're going to "reduce" rewards and sitting here claiming over and over that they're going to is only unnecessarily going to make other people angry and apprehensive over something we don't even have yet.SummersetCitizen wrote: »I believe some will be included in the free tier, but I also think some will be locked behind the Premium tier too. Let’s also be honest about the fact that the generosity of what’s in free to earn is going to change overtime.
Literally every monetization system works like this… to slowly convert customers into the paid tier.
Using carrots AND sticks as motivation. Likely more carrots upfront and more sticks as time passes.
How many of those login rewards did you genuinely use? Asking sincerely not trying to be snarky about it. Were there a lot you actually used or just a small number? Effortless rewards don't much matter if they're going to be something you delete or ignore (in the case of stuff like Pets or Costumes, which we haven't really gotten in a while).Agree with OP and have had the concern of effortless rewards now requiring chores instead.

And with the new system you aren't forced into doing things on shorter timeframes. You'll have months to complete your Weekly and Seasonal Challenges. Weekly ones will carry over every week for the duration of the Season; miss a month because you were sick? You still have several weeks to work on those tasks.
The reroll CAN change things because if you get a set of Challenges that don't align with what you enjoy doing in the game, you can reroll up to five times per week. It gives a decent number of chances to get things you actually enjoy doing or will passively achieve as you do what you like doing.
This system will give you MORE independence and ability to curate what you get rewarded for doing than how things were.

Follow-up question then, again bein' sincere here and not a butt. Out of the things you listed, are those things you can't craft better version of (Poisons, Potions, Food) yourself, or know someone who could? If you don't do crafting yourself (which a number of people don't for whatever reason they have), then I assume you also don't do any of the daily crafting writs? Since you can get the gold mats from those. A number of these rewards are just being shuffled and moved into other ways of getting them and aren't something you get immediately. They'll still be available. How many of those login rewards did you genuinely use? Asking sincerely not trying to be snarky about it. Were there a lot you actually used or just a small number? I used a lot of them. Tri-pots of course, crafting mats, and I also used the Food. Even poisons though not enough to get through them all. More importantly, things like 100K gold or unique cosmetics that came here and there.
If there was nothing I cared for, then the daily logins had no impact on my habits.
I'm sure some people really like logging in, looking at a checklist, and doing random things. Like going into your house and picking up and placing items for no reason. Or going to zones and specific areas like in some Golden Endeavors to kill specific mobs.
I don't find this immersive and simply a waste of time for me. I have to REALLY want something to put up with mindless timesinks.
A number of these rewards are just being shuffled and moved into other ways of getting them and aren't something you get immediately.

The rewards weren't in any way a must have or something. But just a nice...yes; reward for logging in.
This is the mindset I'm talking about not understanding. Playing the game, not getting random items that there's a 50/50 chance you'll never touch, should be the reason to log in. And I'm not trying to attack this mindset but it simply makes no sense to me that getting Potions or some Mimic Stones or a tiny helping of TV/AP or a couple of Riding scrolls should be more of an incentive to get on than the game itself.Right now, there are no login rewards... so why log in?

And again, the Gold Coast Bazaar is having stuff moved to it as well. And as I mentioned there are systems coming that we don't know ANYTHING about yet because they haven't been discussed yet, like the Sage's Vault. These things could be literally anything, which means they can also be additional ways of earning things. We simply don't know yet.
