Trade Bar Conversion FAQ

Hi everyone, in Update 49, Event Tickets will be converting over to Trade Bars. With this FAQ, we want to answer some player questions that have come up regarding the conversion. For a refresher on the conversion, any Event Tickets you possess before Update 49 launches will be converted into Trade Bars. This conversion happens automatically, and you shouldn’t need to do anything! Now on to the FAQ.

Q: What is the Event Ticket to Trade Bar conversion rate?
A: The conversion rate will be 1 Event Ticket to 100 Trade Bars.

Q: Will there be a cap on Trade Bars?
A: No, Trade Bars will not have a cap. One of the core benefits of this conversion of Event Tickets to Trade Bars is to get rid of the currency cap.

Q: Is there a way to get more than 12 Event Tickets on any character before the conversion happens in Update 49?
A: No, the total amount of Event Tickets will remain the same until they are removed in Update 49.

Q: With Trade Bars, how will the cost of existing items, like Morphing Collectible fragments, be adjusted?
A: Event rewards (including morphing collectibles) will have their price converted to maintain their value, as they are available for Trade Bars instead of Event Tickets.

Q: What happens if I think I did not get the full conversion amount of Trade Bars from my Event Tickets?
A: If you suspect there may be a discrepancy, please send in a ticket to our Customer Service team. They should be able to assist you. In addition, it is also a good practice to take a look at your full number of Event Tickets before Update 49. That way, you have the correct number recorded somewhere before the conversion to Event Tickets happens. Please note that the maximum amount Trade Bars someone could have when the conversion happens with Update 49 launch is 1,200 (for 12 Event Tickets.)

Q: How do I acquire Morphing Collectible fragments moving forward?
A: For the current Morphing Collectible, we made a change starting with Jester’s Festival where you can earn the current collectible fragment via the Event's reward boxes in the first event that collectible fragment is available. After the debut event for the fragment, you can still get the fragments through the Impresario with Trade Bars along with older fragments.

I'm usually that guy. With so many changes happening, it's important to take care of the community in what's in your power to do. It helps that it's easy to read and understand.

While Trade Bars function similarly to Event Tickets, how they work behind the scenes is different. The system needed to be built to accommodate no cap limit along with other functional systems. Which is why we don't have the cap for Trade Bars. It was not a simple, remove the cap off Event Tickets fix.

Probably because the Event Tickets were hard coded into the game. Considering how old the game is and how many events have been added to the game over the years, it's probably easier to create a newer system which they can have an unlimited cap to that currency.

As of U49, you will no longer need to acquire the Base Pet repeatedly to morph it.

Will we get an update on what will happen to the fragments for base pets from past events that the players might have?

For example, I might have some Nascent Indrik fragments in addition to the pet itself since I was planning to transform it into an Indrik pet of a variety for which I do not have the berries yet.

Again, literally *nothing* was stopping them from doing this at any time. Convert Event Tickets into Event Tickets 2.0 which didn't have a hard cap. This change is being advertised like it's a benefit only Trade Bars can accomplish, when it was entirely self-inflicted.

I guess if there was something to be mad at, for no reason, this would be it.

Like I said, the Event Tickets were something that might have been hard-coded in the system. Changing around something that is hard-coded can be difficult and high risk of breaking the rest of the game. SO, instead of going the difficult route, they changed the system entirely to make it easier on them, and actual seems like a better system going forward.

This is more or less what my previous post was trying to explain. Building Trade Bars to be more flexible from the ground up was the better solution here.

This is perhaps also why they adjusted the riding lessons to increase by 3 rather than reducing the riding skills to 20. The risk of adjusting math on one end is negligble compared to making the adjustments on the other end.

Not necessarily. Based on how its been explained, discussed, and revealed in patch notes a name change was warranted anyway. The differences

Event tickets: only able to earn via active events by doing specific event tasks or being purchased in the crown store. Only able to spend on event related items from current or past events. Limited to 12 at a time.

Trade Bars: earned via events, but also via other ingame activities, twitch drops, or possibly tome rewards. Can be used to purchase current and past event items, as well as other items that are made available in rhe bazaar. Trade bars can not be purchased with crowns, and have no cap.

The changes seem subtle but the scope and purpose has increased, which warrants a new currency. Awarding event tickets when no event is active would be confusing.

Honestly, with the conversion I dont see what the complaint is. The ONLY downside is that you cant buy trade Bars wirh crowns and I am not sure that its a bad thing. Even at the best conversion rate a single ticket is over $1 USD per ticket pre tax when you convert it. Having trade Bars only in game or as drops is a good trade off.

As of U49, you will no longer need to acquire the Base Pet repeatedly to morph it.

Is that actually going to be retroactive to all previous morphable pets? I had got the impression from the PTS notes and last event that it was only for those and any future ones.

Also curious if the same approach can be applied to non-morphable pet fragments tied to events, since there are now rather a lot of those.

I personally don’t really mind it myself. When I get Oroboros Crates for watching a Twitch drop the only reason I’m getting them is for the gems that I can convert the items in the crates into.

I know that a new benefit of ESO+ is that you are supposed to get trade bars with it, and I know you have plans to get those whose ESO + renewed earlier this year. When is that supposed to happen?
