Please bring back login rewards

Hello, while I understand the current seal concept, I miss meaningful rewards like crafting refinement materials (wax, resin, etc.). The login rewards were a simple and convenient way to obtain these without excessive, pointless farming. It's noticeable that less useful items, such as crown poisons, are hidden among the sub-rewards. Frankly, I don't care whether I have to mindlessly chop wood for resin or use an ultimate ability 20 times. The simple login rewards were a good way to quickly make these items available to everyone. For over a year, you could level up a decent set of armor with them...

1. It's good that the daily seals have been removed. However, the weekly ones are somewhat missed and should be reintroduced.

2. Unfortunately, seals only offer cosmetic endgame customizations, and let's be honest, if you already have your expensive crown mount, you don't necessarily need three more, do you?

3. However, it's good that the pointless filler items like crown poisons are now gone. Actually, only the three days with the crafting materials were interesting; this concept should be continued through logins.

4. The crafting materials were more useful.

--> These could also be integrated into the game without costing any time. --> Why daily login rewards? Why not have monthly ones in a much simpler version without the pointless filler items? Essentially, an (advent) calendar with only 5-7 doors.

5. These could contain resin, wax, blacksmithing alloy, chrome plating, Kuta, and perhaps a nice housing item for everyone who logs in.

What do you think of the change? Do you also miss the login rewards?

I love the change and no, I don't miss all the meaningless (for me) rewards and the FOMO because 'life happens' and now we do not have enough log-in days to get the reward we wanted.

I believe the new system will still contain the previous items based on the explanations I've seen on YouTube, except this time we get to CHOOSE what we want.

No, very bad idea. Daily login awards can go back where they belong, to mobile cash grab games. There should be no place for such systems in AAA games.

I understand that act of login in to receive reward is "easy" - but it is not "easy" to be available everyday to do so. People play premium price for this game, they shouldn't miss on things just because they have life outside of it. Some good rewards were on 14th or 21st day - that most of the month of login in. Have you guys even been on vacation?

The system that let you claim in extended time window all of the rewards for different tasks is better, yes there are some people that still might miss some rewards but that pool of people is much smaller now, which is good. Also game should reward for playing, if you log in just to get reward it's not really an engagement metric that is worth anything.

New system (Tomes - starting in April) will have an option to get what you need and want, not only cosmetic items but also typical log in rewards.

Bringing back the login rewards is a bad idea. Most people are not realistically going to be able to log in every single day. With the tomes, people are actually going to have to engage in the game rather than just sit in West Weald or Vivec City. If you're really in dire need of gold materials, simply refine raw materials you get from the wood and other things you are gathering.

Id like to see them replace the daily crafting quests with some other system in the future too. Even with the add on, it's still incredibly time consuming and most people are doing these things for the wrong reasons. They're also getting rewarded just for sitting in places like West Weald and Vivec City.

Endeavors were always meant to be the way to obtain lootbox stuff via ingame activities due to local law restrictions to lootboxes/Crown Crates.
The seals stay as a reward to claim in Tomes (also for ingame activities).
Most of the useful daily reward stuff will come back as rewards in Tomes. You just don‘t need to login every day to claim them. Instead you play the game, gain Tome Points and can claim rewards that you want.

The new „pick what you like“ mechanic in Tomes is better than daily login rewards with all those useless poisons.

Nope, I don't want to feel the urge to bring my laptop with me on vacation so I don't miss out on daily rewards. That stuff is for phone mobile junk games. So far it's really striking me that this new game director has a good head on his shoulders.

    Tamriel Tomes will have
    - Seals, 8000 in the free version.
    - tasks similar to Endeavours, but Weekly and Seasonal (not Daily).
    - the rewards that were previously in Daily Login Rewards, like Rosin and Potions.
    - the freedom to complete it within 3 months. You do not need to log in every day.

And please stop using Seals and Endeavours interchangeably.
    Seals are the currency.
(Daily and Weekly) Endeavours are the tasks you (used to) get Seals from.

    edited to add:
i do not know 100% that the Tomes will have Rosin, but on the PTS version of the Dawn and Dusk tome there are
    - Tel Var Stones
    - Alliance Points
    - Crown Mimic Stones
    - Experience Scrolls
those have been in Daily Login Rewards in the past.
here is a link to a video previewing it

one of the Tome challenges is Daily Login.

Do your Surveys and refine your Raw Materials, you will get lots of Rosin, Tempering Alloy, Chromium Plating, and Wax.

I get we're in a weird transition period; login rewards are gone and there isn't a meaningful replacement right now. People who used to log in every day (myself included) are at a bit of a loss without the normal housekeeping jobs do.

This could definitely have been handled a little better so there wasn't all this empty space.

But I don't believe we'll be worse off when this all shakes out, even without needing the premium versions.

The main thing for me is going to be choice. You won't have to pick up all the inventory fodder to get the rewards you want any more. It'll be less busy work deleting the things you don't want and can't store most days.

As a long term player, I can't remember the last time there was something in the login rewards that I was excited about. As an occasional new PC player, last month I was desperately trying to find the time to claim them daily just for the research scrolls that came right at the end. Both versions of my game are better off with the new system.

I won't miss the daily rewards. Most of them were things I didn't want or need, and they haven't given us a "special" reward in a while (possibly because they already knew they were getting rid of them.)

I don't mind the endeavours being switched to something less frequent, although I will have to retrain my brain a bit.

I miss the daily login rewards. It felt like a friend greeting me every day with a little token of appreciation for coming to play. I may not use all of the rewards I received but for me it was more about being appreciated than rewards anyway.

Keep in mind that they also haven't said anything about getting rid of golden pursuits - those seem likely to continue as a potential source of some things we used to get in login rewards.

This month the pursuit is obviously intended as more of a direct substitution for login rewards, but previous pursuits have awarded things that used to come from login rewards like currency, cosmetics, gold level upgrade mats, and occasional crates.

I think this plus the tomes should be sufficient, but we'll see how the tomes work out. I personally prefer the flexibility of being able to complete my chores over time when I want to do them, instead of daily.

Except no you won't, where are people getting the idea you need to pay for higher tiers of Tome to get scrolls and stuff? That's being included in the free Tome everyone has access to and the Gold Coast Bazaar.

I have thousands of Tripots and hundreds of exp scrolls. I delete the Food and Poisons because I never need them. A lot of people are drowning in these things, and newer people who haven't built up a stockpile or people who weren't logging in every day will still be able to obtain them by actually playing the game. Many people can also make their own Food and Pots or buy it from others; the ones who can't probably aren't making a bunch of extra characters yet.

IMO, it seems like people are freaking out about something they don't even understand, instead of listening to the people who have either actually experienced it directly on PTS or who have listened to the podcasts or even, as I did, watch YouTube streamer explain exactly what is happening. It all made sense once I understood it and could absolutely see all the positives and no negatives.

As a very very strong "anti daily FOMO mechanic" figure, so much so that ive upset people with my bias toward being against it.

I would like to break bread with you on the idea and meet you in what I would consider a middle ground.

In no ways do I believe they would do this, BUT it's an idea which would "solve" most of these complaints. Or should.

Daily login rewards, which do not have a deadline. So yes, you would get a rewards on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. BUT, if you log in on the 30th... You would just be able to collect all 30 days of login rewards. No daily fomo, no extra benefit to Microsoft for getting people to alter their life toward a daily ESO focus.

Additionally, there could be daily tasks or adventurer guides for players to seek completion out on, but with rewards which are not substantial like the seals were. Maybe EXP rewards, raw gold or very obtainable things any day while doing other things in ESO as well.

Would these solutions be okay for the Pro daily crowd? Is this something we could ask for as a community together?
Let me know why not, from either side. :)

I don't miss the daily login rewards, but I do miss the daily endeavors. I know it is just a couple week hiatus before the tomes roll out, but the daily endeavors used to be a great launching point for "What am I going to do today?" If it was a kill trolls day, I could go work on one of the zones with trolls on an alt; if the weekly was treasure chests, then it was a good day to clean out maps. This Golden Pursuit was so easy that it was knocked out in two days, so I'm just in a holding pattern until U49 and the Tomes. I hope they are worthwhile.

I believe some will be included in the free tier, but I also think some will be locked behind the Premium tier too. How much we’ll get for free versus how much we’ll have to pay for is something I’m very curious about.

As to where people are getting the idea that scrolls and such might be paid, it’s not unsubstantiated. Here’s a page from PTS with Companion xp consumables and Alliance War scrolls on the Premium track:

    pb2twudd76ht.png

This certainly doesn’t mean scrolls won’t appear on the free track. On the other hand, while it doesn’t guarantee that scrolls will appear on the Premium track, it does strongly suggest the possibility — especially since things we have been promised would be on the Premium track were also there on PTS (like the multirider spider) too.

Perhaps the Premium track will be reserved for these rarer/new xp consumables. (We can already see writ vouchers and chicken dinners and other things from daily logins there, though, too.) Perhaps not. I’m looking forward to finding out in April.

I miss them. I would log in get my dailies done then turn to to endeavors. I tried a lot of different things that were asked for the quests and after 4 years ignoring companions I actually activated one. Thank you for Tanlorin btw. I hated that little complaining dark elf that was first so much I never tried a companion again till an endeavor needed it.

Don't have much hope for whats coming but I'll wait and see. Been here since day one. I went and renrewed my year sub just cause that's what I always do near anniversary time, but I immediately canceled it again.

Point of view of a veteran master crafter : you know what's great about daily crafting ? You don't have to complete the master writs if you don't want to, you can stick to daily writs, get the rewards and easily obtain gold and materials that will grant you golden refining materials.
Also, you can sell master writs for more gold that you will use to get more golden materials.

This conversation has lasted for years, we were all bored to death by the daily rewards, the lack of waw effect, the fact that there were only consumables and scrolls, ONCE, years ago, there was a full DLC (Murkmire) and from time to time a costume or memento... to be honest daily rewards weren't rewards anymore, they had become chores because most of the time items needed to be deleted (I like to craft my own situational potions, thank you) or stored (no idea how many xp scrolls I have at home, I could play under permanent XP boost if I wanted to).

By deleting these daily rewards, devs have found another way to solve, at least partly, a common problem in MMORPGs : the concentration of gold in a small numbers of rich players and guilds (especially since NPC merchants often don't offer anything worth spending gold to them). Now they have to *buy* whatever materials they need, and make the economic system function. It's sane and I like it. As a veteran master crafter, I'm rich, and I can afford to buy materials from other players too. I will. So should you.

About seals of endeavours... the other players have spoken, I have nothing to add.

I buy very little on the market. Shopping around pays off as some of the prices you see are just eye watering (and good for a LOL). It feels like there is an obsession with diddling every last gold out of you. Doing the master writs and resource maps isn't a big deal to build up your own stash. But to each their own; sometimes it's just more convenient to buy stuff.

But do shop around, the price difference is shocking. I really wonder what some people are thinking.

The daily rewards were quite rewarding during the 10-year anniversary period, so much we even got a notable house on the second or third day of the month. As they were part of my daily routine, I do miss them - same with endeavors. The amount of gold mats, however, usually wasn't anything about which to write home and these new tomes are supposed to contain some of the same stuff we could get with the daily rewards. The problem, as someone already pointed out, is they retired the old system a month before the new one was to start, so we get this weird void in March. Today is already the 9th and I still find myself checking the endeavors tab on occasion. We can only hope these new tomes are worth the headache caused by such steep changes - and bug free. Yes, yes, I know I wrote "bug free" about a TES game...

Let’s also be honest about the fact that the generosity of what’s in free to earn is going to change overtime.

Literally every monetization system works like this… to slowly convert customers into the paid tier.

Using carrots AND sticks as motivation. Likely more carrots upfront and more sticks as time passes.
